I saw this and thought it might be of interest to some here that may be looking for a good muzzle device.  Actually, this article raised my respect of the standard A2 flash hider a bit more.

I've got a BattleComp on my AR.

Does it work?  Yes.  Is it worth the money?  Not so sure.

If I had it to do over again, I'd probably just stick with an A2 flash hider.

 

Same with my 7.62 AK.

I have two AR carbines, one with an A2, and one with a BattleComp. The battlecomp IS effective. Who knows if it's worth the money. I reckon that depends on the individual.

I'm thinking the whole thing is pretty subjective. Not only to each rifle but to each shooter. I'm liking linear compensators lately. Not as effective I guess but to each their own.

The bc does what I wanted. Helps keep the muzzle on target. I does reduce recoil some, but wasnt a requirement for me Edited June 19, 2014 by mikegideon

I like my A2. I didn't have to spend anything extra for it, and in the freak event it breaks I can get another very cheaply.

I'm partial to the YHM Phantom.  It's cheap, looks good and is effective.

I have a couple of those. None in 5.56

Running the Fortis RED brake on one of my 16" AR carbines right now, so far I'm really impressed with it. Of course, it's loud as brakes tend to be. But with the gun gassed correctly and this brake, it literally feels like shooting a .22lr On the 10.5" pistol I'm building right now I'll be running the Kaw Valley linear compensator. All benefits of the Noveske KX3 without the weight or cost. I've ran the KX3 on a 7.5" barrel and it worked, I just think there are equal alternatives in that area now for less money. I'd put money up that the Griffin Armament comp I have on another 16" carbine works as well or better than a battle comp, at a fraction of the money. If we were to get scientific and all.
