We had a local O.ther G.overnment A.gency (ie. cia) safe house in our area of Iraq. My squad was on rotation to guard it and our regimental HQ decided to have their halloween party there. I was up on the roof and could hear music and stuff so I walk over to the edge that overlooks the patio. A few people are in home made costumes but I see this one female LT in a cardboard box with some wires sticking out of it. After a couple of minutes it hits me as to what she is. While at first I was pretty upset by it I got over it and looked at it more as a joke like she intended.

As has been said. Be careful about who sees the costume. My wife is a Navy MP and she has had more than one internet related personnel problem. People just don't seem to understand how fast something can come full circle on the web. Usually it has picked up quite a bit of momentum. You Tube, My Space and Face Book can be a career killer.

You know, I understand there are rules, especially for the military, but what people do in their own homes should be their business. If I want to dress up like the tooth fairy and sing nursery rhymes while drinking a Jack and Coke and post it on You Tube, that's my business.

If you come to work on Monday and perform your duties, what does it matter? People are to sensitive nowadays to shenanigans. I prescribe two of these :(:chill:

The problem is, when you sign on the line and make that check payable up to and including your life you are saying that you will abide by their rules 24/7. A soldier is NEVER off duty.

You're no longer a civilian, and it's no longer a job. You're a soldier, and it's a way of life.

Preaching to the choir there. I understand the military is a different than civilian life. I was directing it more at civilian jobs.

Yep. I grew up on military bases. An idiot in my DODDS high school screwed up pretty badly and cost his dad a stripe. I understand the discussions at home became a tad ... heated.
