The page I saw (Magpul's Facebook page) said it was polymer G17 mags, I saw no mention of slides, and I highly doubt a polymer slide would have enough mass to function.

They have also released a Remington 700 short action chassis, the Hunter 700

Also of mention is that their new AK mags are now steel reinforced. Edited by nightrunner

Correct.  Just mags at this point.  The photo of the Glock slide is a stock Glock 17 slide... not polymer.

My bad... that's what I get for glancing. Was on my way out the door....

Corrected post.

It was a happy thought none the less.  I'd be interested in seeing how they could do something like that and produce something even lighter weight.

I'd definitely be in for one if they made it. :)

I like the polymer cover on my Five-seveN because when carrying all the time, I don't worry about it getting wear like I do with the metal coatings like Glock uses, and then there is the benefit of the weight savings.

One of the main reasons I don't carry a gun like my Beretta 92FS is that thing feels way too heavy hanging off a belt or paddle holster.

And I like carrying my full size pistols in the winter just because they're concealable with the winter clothes.

I go back the the Shield 40 and XDs 45 in the summer, though.
