There are plenty of other options out there, these are the only personal ones I have pictures of though.  If you plan on changing calibers around take a look at Esstac (I like them can't you tell?). You can swap out the back panels to go from .308 to 5.56 or whatever while keeping your other pouches on the front vs. having to swap everything around.  With Essatac you can get several types too. Trim Bush- 4 mags, Bush Boar- 6 mags, and Boar- 8 mags, split front or solid front.  Other thing about Esstac is that Stu can make anything you could think up that's not on the website, like back panels for MP5, Uzi, or MP7 magazines.

If you want to try anything let me know and I'll let you run around with it.  I have some other things too if you want to try them out.

OK I have realized that I didn't put in enough information. The rig would be used for AR mags most of the time but possibly AK mags. It will be on top of hard armor. I don't want too much crap or too much weight. It would be something I could grab and go with. I would prefer 6 mags but I guess I could do with 4. I don't necessarily have a limit on what I would spend but I would prefer to spend less if possible while still getting good quality. Other than that I don't know of anything else I could want.

Look in to the D3 chest rig from Haley Strategic. It will hold 4 AK/AR mags and will clip on to a plate carrier if needed.

I personally went with a SOE PALS micro rig and put HSGI Tacos and a D.A.R.K. medical kit. But this was before HSP offered the D3. (But i hardly use this option.)  Every class I've taken and anytime I train I use the HSGI Leg Rig V1. In the Tennessee heat and humidity a small leg rig that holds 2 rifle mags and 3 pistol mags is very attractive.

My set up has changed and I run much slicker now. Also changed to a g19 from the kimber.

I think the SOE Micro Rig will probably be what I end up purchasing but I'll have to try one out. It seems to be more than enough for what I would ever use it for. Plus I don't see any need in spending more than $150 on a rig that I'll only use a few times a year. All the money I save I can just put down toward a set of plates or more classes.

I'd say focus on a good plate carrier you can put the pouches on, or a rig you can clip onto the carrier.  I'd go minimal size carrier with a belt if you need extra storage for things like a pistol and pistol mags.

As to the 4 vs. 6 mags, you have to ask how much you want to have sticking out, adding weight, making more things to get stuff caught on, and placement.  Also, take some time to think about what needs to be on your kit, and what can be better stored in a bag, or on a belt if you still need it within a quick arms reach.  A good compromise is to put four mags on the rig/carrier, and the last two mags on your belt.

The micro rig is solid. I have a plate carrier and can run the micro rig on top. Mostly i run the micro and a sturdy gun belt with an additional AR mag and pistol mags along with my pistol, dump pouch, knife, etc. Distributes the weight a lot better.

OSOE is great stuff. I don't know about dealers, I order direct from his website. There is usually a wait time if you order an odd color combo. Don't be an idiot, follow the instructions, and don't order then start sending emails the next week asking for updates. John will cancel your order and put you on blast on facebook. He's a good guy, he just doesn't deal with bullshit. I ran an SOE Mookie War Rig light, 8 mag setup and loved it. When I switched to a .308 battle rifle I ordered up a Micro Rig in .308 and ran it. My first order took about 2 months and my second took about 3 since I ordered them in OD which isn't a high volume color combo. His gear has a cult like following and for good reason. I have also run BDS gear and they offer a complete custom setup usually shipped within 6 to 8 weeks. Their gear is also top notch.

Anyone have pictures that I can see of what you're running. I'm thinking a micro rig so that I'm not tied into one setup. That and I really want to buy a plate carrier with plates. So I'm going to lean toward something smaller.

If you go plate carrier you will probably also want a battle belt.

That's a little too tacticool for me. If you saw me with all this crap on you'd think I was a damn mall ninja. I can dig the plate carrier but not the battle belt. Plus it's also extra money that I don't want to spend.
