Good TGO blog by Straneevy on EMP attack and gun safes

I'd really forgotten about the blog section of our site and decided to check it out again. I saw a really good blog about EMP attacks and electronic locks on gun safes. I don't know why but Strangeevy seems to have joined in Jan of this year, posted the blog and hasn't been back for whatever reason. I left a thank you comment in case they do come back. This blog got my attention because I do have an electronic lock on my Cannon safe. I've been researching the subject matter of Strangeevy's blog and it may do us all well to do the same. I'd suggest anyone with a safe that has an electronic lock, or want's to think about ways to protect your electronics in case of an EMP attack, take a look at this.  Here's the link:

That's a great move on your part, xRUSTYx. I wish I'd have done that myself. I have done some reading on Faraday Cages. It seems that for small electronic items even a small garbage can, metal ammo can etc....can protect them. I'm thinking about having an aluminum box made that will fit over my electronic lock on my Cannon in some way and be easily installed/removed.

myth busters did a bit on emp attacks a few years ago.

IIRC they put a car under a simulated emp device.  While it disabled the car for the most part there were still working electronics on it.

fwiw.

That's interesting. It could have been the body of the car in relation to the position of the electronics that shielded the ones that didn't fail. I haven't seen that show.

I also assumed it was where the electronic was inside the car that may have not killed it completely.

Mine is electronic with a key backup. Bought it in 2008. I'm assuming by now most have an option of dual entry (back up) if not already built in besides a lock smith or crow bar? I need to upgrade in size one of these years.
