Someone is offering me the following trade for something I have worth roughly $550. They are offering $200 cash on top of this shotgun towards my item, I'd essentially be giving them $350 trade credit for it. Is it worth that? Isn't the Express a cheaper version of the 870?

Looks like about $379 new. If you had $380 or so would you purchase this shotgun or a different one? Why?

So maybe a good deal if you are in the market for a shotgun, if it is almost new, but not a steal by any means. Exactly what I was looking for.

You summed up what I was going to say. I wouldn't say you're getting screwed but also not an amazing deal. It looks to be in like new condition from the pics though.

If you're going to keep the shotgun, it's probably not a horrible deal. If you're going to sell the shotgun, I'd pass. When it comes time to sell it, you'll likely get stuck accepting bottom dollar, which is why he's offering the shotgun as part of the deal, rather than selling it himself. He knows that he'll never get what he wants you to believe it's worth.

It's a good tactical home defense shotgun. Good shotgun, but the Police Magnum is a step up in a few key areas and worth the extra money for something more than a range toy.

While every 870 I have owned or handled has a tighter fit than the comparable Mossberg, think of the 870 express as equal to a Mossberg 500 quality wise and the 870 Police as equal to the 590
