I just looked at the new website and noticed that the front page needs proper spacing between the bullet points. It almost looks as bad as when reading forum posts with long response written as one single paragraph with no spacing. Very hard to read.

If you decide to redesign the new website, I would like to suggest that the website not use technologies that slowdown the loading of the web page. I hate websites that want to play some intro/demo or heavy graphics each time you visit the site. I also dislike the use of frames since you cannot easily link or add to favorites to quickly return to that section of the website.

I would recommend HP. Not sure I would order it from Best Buy.

New site looks great. *) On the main page, I would change the store hours format from: 9AM-9PM to 9 AM - 9 PM to make it easier to read. *) The FAQ I would add change the question from: Do I need to bring my own firearm for the class? to Do I need to bring my own firearm and ammunition to the class? *) It would be better if there were an accessories page broken down by various subgroups like range bags, cleaning supplies/lube, etc. *) It appears that your range membership is for families. What is the cost of an individual membership and for family members that do not which to share a lane? What is the cost of shooting at the range without membership? All day or by the hour? *) Type of firearms or caliber limits for the range? *) List transfer fee. *) Add gunsmithing capabilities.

The reason I make the recommendation to use the carry ammo at all times is to recognize a problem has started. An example is a friend was having FTF/FTE issues with hollow points that previously worked in his handgun. To be fair, I can't remember if we tested with round ball ammo when the FTF/FTE occurred due to it has been too long ago. Also I can't remember what was causing the problem, however he fixed the issue and now the gun feeds hollow points reliably. Maybe a better compromise for those who consider my recommendation as "silly" is to retest your carry ammo the next time at the range. If you shoot 200 - 300 rounds a session, consider shooting 50 -100 rounds of your carry ammo by using all your magazines. I am not saying 50 - 100 rounds per magazine.

As I stated, yes it is more expensive. This issue and the question of this thread, is how many rounds fired reliably is considered acceptable for use in your handgun? My response to this question for consideration is that I would always want to use the carry ammo at all times to make sure the handgun continues to shoot reliably with that particular brand and type of ammo after the break-in or testing of ammo. I don't mean for the next statement to come across as harsh, however it makes the point I am trying to make on this topic. I value my life more than the cost of ammo. Of course, each person will decide what makes them feel confident in their handgun and ammo.

For a new handgun, I first want to break it in with 500 - 600 rounds using the carry ammo. Generally, I shoot about 200 – 300 rounds per range session. Clean the gun after each range session then return to the range on another day to put another 200 – 300 rounds through the handgun. Then put another 500 rounds over the next 2 or three range sessions using the carry ammo. Anytime you go to the range to practice shooting or just to have fun shooting, use your carry ammo. I know this is more expensive. However if any problems start occurring, it is better to discover the problem during a range session than in SHTF moment.

Actually, the FBI was testing the 9mm and .45 calibers as well as the questions surrounding hollow point effectiveness and reliability.

The greatest challenage I have encountered when trying to research what is the most effective handgun caliber or bullet of a given caliber is to find credible research verses internet opinions or informal testing. We both know that this topic enters into the realm of politics and religion debates. I am willing to accept new empirical results to use a different grain of bullet for a given caliber. Can you post links to the newer credible research that recommends something else other than 147gr for JHP in 9mm or other calibers?

Using the database, a visitor to the website can look up the name of anyone who has a permit to carry a hand gun in the state of Tennessee. Information listed includes the owner's year of birth, along with his or her city, state, and zip code of residence. Givens said his phone has been ringing off the hook from clients upset about their personal information being so accessible. "By publishing this database your employers, your co-workers, church members, even relatives that may not know you have a permit, now know that you've got one," he said. The Commercial Appeal purchased the permit information from the Tennessee's Department of Safety. Thursday, a department spokesman said his office has been flooded with angry calls and e-mails from permit owners. In response to that criticism, the Department of Safety issued a statement that said the information is a matter of "public record" and Commercial Appeal is not breaking any laws by releasing the information. However, the department spokesman added, he feels it's questionable for the Commercial Appeal to make the gun permit information available in the way the newspaper has. A spokesperson for the Commercial Appeal has not yet commented for this story.

I have not had the need to visit any gunshop except for those that have an indoor range.

I could understand the change if FGS was under new management or staff. However FGS has the same personnel working at the shop today as in 2004. I guess over time, they have changed their attitudes towards their customers for the worse.

It seems to me that gun industry has many businesses and manufactures that fail to understand the rudimentary business concept that they are in business because of their customers, not in spite of their customers. Another issue I have noticed with many gun shops, sites or manufactures is if you are going to put your business on the internet, then you need to be staffed appropriately to handle the internet orders and responding to both emails and phone calls. I have experienced and read on many other gun forums people complaining that their emails and/or phone calls were never answered or were answered weeks/months later which included the gun manufactures. I am disappointed on the recent postings regarding Franklin Gun Shop. I had a pleasant experience at FGS the last time I was in their shop back in 2004. Jerry Hassler is very sales oriented to the point it makes me want to leave the store. I liked Mike Hassler who seemed very knowledgeable and very low pressure sales. Mike would answer my questions and then back-off to allow you to make the sale. Mike was the complete opposite of Jerry who was like a desperate car salesman trying to make a rusting old car seem like a brand new car. FGS will deal on price if you talk to them about prices you have seen elsewhere or in my case; I just said what can we do to lower the price? The answer I got was to pay in cash and they would reduce the price to X. YMMV

Improper assembly is a possibility. I am trying to ascertain if the gun was completely dissembled or if a part failure may have occurred. The most prudent advice is from John Wall. Take the gun to a certified Glock Armorer to determine the reason for the three round firings.

No offense to the gun shop owners, however I cannot see any positives to a reality TV show for the gun shop nor the gun owners. You can assume that these reality shows will edit and/or create controversial and contentious situations which will not present the gun shop, the staff nor the gun owners in a positive portrayal. Some ideas the writers of the show might come-up with (yes, reality shows have writers; so how can it be a reality show): Show the gun owner/store owner that almost shot someone in the store while looking at a new gun. You know, the new gun was loaded somehow. Show the incompetent “the joker†gun shop assistant doing something stupid with a gun. Maybe showing the customer how to load the gun with live ammo and then almost discharge the firearm. Better yet, have them blast a hole in the wall. For effect for those watching the show. Show a customer testing if ammo will fire by trying to hit the primer with their car keys. Are you getting the picture yet? In my view, these reality TV shows will only provide more fuel to the anti-gun advocates.

Glass said she had just pulled into a spot in the Dillard's parking lot around 2 p.m. when she said a man in the passengers' seat of a van started cursing at her. "The next thing you know, he pulled out a gun and he cocked it at the window, and he was shaking it at me," said Glass. Franklin police were close by and arrested the suspect, Joseph Sepulveda, 29, of Fairview. "He actually chambered a round in the gun and brandished it, pointed it at her, or in her direction," said Sgt. Charles Warner of the Franklin Police Department. Glass said Sepulveda also had a woman and a child in the vehicle with him. She said she was so frightened by the incident that she never finished her holiday shopping. "The guy was just waving the gun at me over a parking spot. (I thought,) 'You can have it, I'll move if it's that serious,'" said Glass. Sepulveda is being charged with aggravated assault. He was released from the Williamson County jail after posting $2,500 bond. “We would like to take this opportunity to reiterate the importance of being courteous over small things like parking spaces and right of way,†said Sgt.
