  1. Some new hogue G10 extreme grips (in the right color) can make that pistol come alive!
  2. make sure you get your muzzle brake first. that way the shop can make the threads align to the muzzle brake. Most gun shops will have a gunsmith that can do this or they know someone nearby to ship off to or where you can go yourself. You just normally drop off your muzzle brake and your gun.
  3. Thanks guys, i will make some calls to see what the prices to install are. But its honestly a straight shot to its resting spot (two doors, no stairs) so I will still decide on friends/beer/dollies. Thanks!
  4. The crossbreed supertuck is number one in many folks books for a reason. If only you didn't have to wait for them to custom make it!
  5. for private buildings its up to the owner and the LEO if they want to prosecute (If there are signs I wouldn't risk my gun being taken away!). But back on topic, I have worked interesting cases of a soldier that ran off armed to catch some burglars that never took anything from him. The questions is whether he was justified to point a gun at them when he was not defending his property. In the end, since he caught them in the act of burglarizing other folks cars, it was at night, it was 3 on 1, we decided that he was justified to use his pistol. 6. i don't like mine so far back. but honestly I leave it down when i shoot anyways.
  7. With all the Bravo Company postings I decided to show off my M4. It's a mid-length BCM EAG Tactical upper with 14.6" Barrel and a pinned Battle Comp 1.5. It has an aimpoint PRO, flip-up rear, fixed front, Tango Down Scar Panels, and Surefire M910 Weapon Light. The lower is a DPMS Lower with Magpul BAD Lever, Magpul UBR Stock, and Magpul MIAD grip. It also has a Spikes Tactical ST-2 Buffer. Other items: Magpul MS-2 Sling, UTG Covert Gun Case This rifle is offically done. My only upgrade left is to upgrade the m910 to led. This rifle is pretty awesome, little recoil. Next I want something lighter so i'm going with a DDM4V5 LW. Enjoy the gun porn! Bravo Company M4 EAG TACTICAL pictures by alwaysonjohn - Photobucket
  8. Well I got a good deal on a Patriot Safe "Collector" 39 Gun Safe. I don't take delivery till March, but I paid under $2000 for the safe with a pistol rack and door organizer. The dimensions are 59X39X27 so I assume this safe will be pretty heavy. I was wondering what do you guys use to move your safe? Do I need to rent a dolly or pallet jack to get this thing inside my house?
  9. I was going to say the same thing as others... Do not get a Red Jacket firearm. I would get a DD M4 V5 LW. Its a lightweight mid-legth quad rail m4. The price is about the same and their customer service is amazing. I have a Bravo Company myself but my next one is going to be a DDM4V5 LW. I don't think bravo company is taking orders on complete guns right now (you have to order an upper from them and get a lower seperately), plus their e-mail only customer service can piss a guy off. Call Butch at Outpost Armory for prices on DD products or you can always look online.
  10. When i tried to cancel they said they could send me a new receiver but it could be another hr-22. They couldn't guarantee that I would get a newer model receiver such as the hr-24. They also said this would put me in another two year contract (and without any discounts at that). I have had them since 2006 which is how long I have had that receiver.... The incident that caused this is the fact that the new guide (which looks better) has slowed my receiver to a crawl. Changing channels take 6 seconds for the picture and sound to show up, and just asking the guide to show up takes 6 seconds too. If I change from a HD channel to a SD channel that takes even longer. I may try my cable company again. Thanks guys.
  11. After having Directv for years I feel i must weigh my options. Directv is unwilling to upgradge my 3 year old HR22 HD DVR since they say its still on their list of receivers that are used... So i want to know what you guys recommend. I am seriously thinking of switching to the America's Gold package from Dish Network. What do you guys think?
  12. As long as there are not signs, and the building is not a federal building/post office/school/bar/airport/, and i'm not drunk... I carry. If someone complains (not that i open carry), then I leave... For parks i always try to look up the park rules before I carry there.
  13. I'd do what I have already done. Get a Remington 700P .308 and add optics and a bipod. Then save up for a choate stock and add it. Now I am getting the barrel threaded for adding an AAC 51t Muzzle Brake along with getting a phoenix bolt knob. Soon I will be repainting the gun (not the stock though) and getting a new stock (either manners or AICS) with bottom metal for a magazine. And later I will be adding a better optic and a sound surpressor. I would attach pics but my gun is in the shop. Big Iron Munitions is doing the barrel threading and bolt knob right now. Total spent: $800 for rifle, $200 for scope, $200 for choate stock, $100 for bipod, $550 for threading muzzle break and bolt knob planned upgrades: $1000 (Manners stock with bottom metal), $1500 Nightforce scope, $250 Atlas Bipod, $850 AAC Surpressor Plan to sell: $150 Original scope, $150 choate Stock with bipod I hope this inspires someone...
  14. check noveske. you may have to email them... they make better barrels anyhow just expect to pay more.
  15. get the ghost rocket connector. Beyond that maybe get a threaded barrel from storm lake and a surpressor
  16. If you go with a flat top I would suggest no iron sights at all. The large front sight is detracting but if you get a rifle with one there are guides on the internet to file it down if its annoying to you. If you go with a large manufacturer you will get a good gun (Colt, BCM/bravocompany, RRA, Spikes Tactical, Daniel Defense, LWRC, Noveske, Armalite). Also I'm a fan of mid-length gas systems. For a cheap carbine length but good beginner AR-15 i recommend getting a Colt LE6920/SP6920 as long as you can find it around 1000-1200. It's a good beginner ar that you can modify down the road, plus it keeps it's value! For a good mid-length is the Daniel Defense V5 Lightweight. It has a quad rail, no sights to block your full view, and its incredibly light which is always a good thing when trekking to the woods (just call around till you find a good deal around $1300?) If you want to spend some money on a real hog gun check out the new 300BLKOUT round down the road. There are not a lot of manufacturers making the 300BLKOUT as a complete rifle (unless you want to spend $2500 for Noveske). You can buy any ar-15 lower and and mate it with a 300BLKOUT upper. The 300BLKOUT upper is sold directly from AAC for around $1000. So you can attach which upper you want to shoot (.223/5.56 or .300BLKOUT) Most of these rifles/uppers are made to attach a surpressor from advanced armament (AAC) on them which is something to think about down the road!
  17. Big Iron Munitions on Tiny Town Rd does duracoat. They are a new shop so please go over and see them. They are also a class 3 dealer!
  18. I didn't know where to post this. I noticed noveske offered discounts for buying straight from them for LEO so I was wanting to get one due to their quality. Normally I do special orders with local stores but I wanted a nice one due to the fact I will be keeping this rifle forever. I plan on getting a Noveske 8" 300BLKOUT rifle . I was just wondering how much did you guys end up paying for the transfer fee and if you had to pay TN sales tax at the store or did you report it and pay it later. Also, did the local store get mad that you didn't go through them. I still plan on calling guns and leather to see what prices they can offer, if they can even offer noveske. John
  19. things to think about: if the barrel is less than 16" then it is considered a SBR which is a $200 tax stamp (you pay per gun specifically per lower receiver). The way around this is to get rid of the stock and you now have an ar pistol. Or you can permanently weld a flash hider or muzzle break to make the overall length (OAL) over 16" (my own ar is a 14.5" with a battle comp making the OAL 16.1") Just make sure you pick a lower you like because the sbr tax stamp is specifically for the lower so you can sell/trade your uppers. You can also cut the barrel off your current ar (well let a gunsmith do it . Then its $200 tax stamp for any surpressor (you pay per surpressor not gun). So you can have three threaded 1911s and pay nothing but $200 when you get your AAC Ti-Rant 45 (that's what i want) Full auto is another $200 (per "machine gun" or per sear) but you have to find a gun made before a certain year (i think its 1986). These guns cost a lot and you can even register just the full auto sear (so you can put the sear in a compatible gun), but it has to be made before 1986, and those sell for $12,000 by themselves. Full Auto is pretty much out of the question for most people unless you want to serve in prison for 10 years (do it illegally), have a load of cash, become a class 3 dealer, or join spec ops or a tac team. So in other words if it was full auto he would have had to pay 3 tax stamps.... hope this helps
  20. WOW :-) Keep us updated on how it does. That is similar to my next planned build (9-11.5" barrel, 300BLKOUT, 762-SND-6, EOTECH) i just haven't picked an upper I like! Nice SBR!
  21. get a storm-lake barrel. They are made in TN, offer LEO discounts, and are accurate. Not to mention they sell threaded barrels with thread protector covers. They do sell complete drop-in assemblies so you don't have to take anything off your current barrel. Price is around $200 to 275 depending on your configuration and discounts. Only negative is that they normally have to make your barrel so wait time for me was around 2 months. LINK: StormLake | Barrels built for accuracy Also, I forgot to mention to e-mail them before you order to ask questions. They are pretty helpful and they normally get back in a day or two. I was able to order a barrel for my Para Ordnance that doesn't follow normal 1911 barrel specs. The threaded barrels are awesome and they can now coat barrels in black. e-mail support@storm-lake.com and also don't forget to include your caliber when you e-mail them what you have.
  22. i bought the remington 700p used and the barrel on it measures 25" which is different from the 26" that the 700p normally comes with (maybe i'm measuring wrong), but its definitely a bull barrel. i have shot it and it shoots great.
  23. Thanks. After reading your post i decided to do measurements. My barrell is actually 25" measured while its screwed in (i bought it used so i don't know if its the stock 26" cut down or if it's considered 26 with the threads on the inside). With calipers this means: 25": .828 24": .832 23": .837 So for my next project I'm going to get a gunsmith to thread the barrel for 5/8-24, install the removable muzzle (just make sure it aligns the right way with the threads) and install my tactical knob. I'll probably go with MidTn if they can do it, they are closer than anyone else. This will be a January project btw along with an AICS 1.5/2.0 stock or Manners T5A Stock (which i will need bedded also). Thanks everyone for the input, now my only question is the age old... AICS or Manners?
  24. okay. Just looking at their prices it looks like I'll have to save up a little more dough if I go with them. Thanks!
  25. I am just wondering which muzzle brake i need to buy for my remington 700P .308 caliber (its the older 24" Bull Barrel). I have decided to get a Badger Ordnance FTE Removable muzzle brake. They come in 3 sizes: SKU# BO306-38 for 3/4-28 thread and .875†minimum barrel diameter. SKU# BO306-38B for 5/8-24 thread and fits barrels at least .800" diameter. SKU# BO306-38C for 3/4-24 thread and .875†minimum barrel diameter. So which one do i need? Plus any "competent gunsmiths" who can install this and also install a badger ordnance tac knob on the above gun? I live in Clarksville if that helps, and I am planning on this upgrade this December.
