yeah, when that happens its usually the spring. i recommend just buying new wolf springs so you don't have to throw away the magazine.

many females I know carry the walther p22 in pink... As for all the .22 haters, just know that shot placement and being comfortable shooting one is more important than the size of the caliber. The .22 creates lilttle recoil and little noise compared to other calibers which will teach her not to flinch and not to pull. If she gets a big caliber she can have a nasty habit of pulling down due to recoil then she is going to miss if she ever has to use it and I wouldn't want her to be liable for what she does end up hitting. just a thought.

technically it is the mini-windrunner from EDM Arms. The whole gun can be taken down and packed into a bagpack. That's pretty Awesome! http://spectre23.wordpress.com/2010/01/23/nemesis-arms-windrunner-at-shot-2010/

I am buying the parts to build a custom .308 that I have already nicknamed "Grim Reaper". It will be a tactical rifle that will be occasionally shot, but will be mainly made to remind me of the fallen soldiers and officers who have died serving our country. Its going to be a Manners T5A, custom painted by OnTarget (in a black/gray skull grim reaper look), with the mini-chasis system. I have just ordered the Defiance Rebel Action. The atlas bipod is here waiting on the rest of the gun. I have already decided of getting a Jewell Trigger and a NightForce Scope but both will be purchased later. The action will be here late June, and the Stock will be here late July. Now on to my question, which barrel should I get. I wanted a Krieger 5R 23" barrel, but now after talking to Brandon at MidTN Gunsmithing (who will be the one building it) I am considering a Lilja 23" 3-button barrel. So for the barrel contour grandwizards out there, would you get the 3-button barrel and what contour or straight taper would you get. The whole contour or straight tapering confuses me, other than once the barrel gets hot, the gun becomes less accurate. Is straight taper better? I don't mind the extra weight to be honest. Or which contour do you recommend? John

First AR: should I buy the whole gun or build from parts?
alwaysonjohn replied to a topic in Long Guns
Building the lower on mine is what I did. Plus that way I got the upper I wanted (which is more important)... the BCM EAG Tactical 14.6" with battle comp 1.5 pinned. Just check out all the specialized uppers at BCM (BravoCompanyUsa). BTW I don't recommend pinned flash hiders to increase your OAL, since it sucks when you want to change a gas block, or quad rail, etc... just get a 16" barrel. -
lol. i clean mine every month. i don't think I can say that without sounding dirty. Plus I clean to/from the range. There are different levels of cleaning though, and I don't break out the Hopped 9 every month.

try midtn gunsmithing. He is cerakoting my Remington 700P as we speak (well I dropped it off yesterday so he has it). He is a great guy to work with too so feel free to e-mail him with all your questions (like I did). brandon@midtngunsmithing.com I believe he will Parkerize/blue it so just check with him on what you should do.

You have to realize that 911 dispatchers are not POST Certified meaning they can NOT lawfully give you an order. Take their ADVICE as is and without warranty. I can tell you some good stories about bad advice dispatchers have given... but everyone has those stories and I don't want anyone to tell mine

get some nice ones from hoguestore.com be prepared to wait two months though.

question about my planned build
alwaysonjohn replied to a topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I would say for 5.56 that would be too short. Go with 300blkout and you'll be fine. I plan on going with a Spikes Tactical 10" with 9" SAR or I may get a 12" BAR to hide the suppressor. The normal steps would be: 1. Purchase a NFA Trust from a TN lawyer ($250-$400). Remember you have to initially stick one thing in the trust. 2. get a normal lower. get it engraved with with your trust's name ($400?) Make sure you give the shop the details on NFA Rules on depth and locations. 3. Send your tax stamp off that your building a sbr. ($200) You should already know which upper you want to buy at this point. 4. Once your stamp comes back purchase your sbr upper and mate the two. (just know you may also have to pay a NFA Item Transfer fee from the shop you use, sometimes the transfer fee can be around $100) The next time around it should be cheaper since you don't have to repurchase a trust. As others have said, resale on a NFA item is a bad idea because you WILL lose money, so make sure you pick items that you intend to keep until you have used them past their lifespan. -
if you don't mind that ugly deer on the receiver... someone had to say it.

i don't know the specs of the walmart dpms but my dpms lower has done great for me. I know DPMS rifles in the past (over 10 years ago) had problems with the lowers cracking due to the manufacturing process. But now they seem to have good quality and no issues. The price on dpms is in the lower end and for the price it doesn't have a lot of competitors besides the cheaper bushmasters etc. My only advice is to look at the barrel and see if it has the twist rate you want. If you see the specs the better guns have receivers made from aluminum 7075-t6, dpms is mainly milspec so I wouldn't worry too much about the rest. As for the finish wearing out you can always cerakote down the road if it bothers you. There are some areas on the rifle that the finish will wear out no matter which manufacturer/finish you choose.

Tromix Saiga 12?
alwaysonjohn replied to alwaysonjohn's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
After reading your posts it looks like I will just try to do the first one myself. I'll just have to find my dremmel and shop around for good prices on new Saiga's. Is there anything I should know when buying a Saiga 12? -
I was just wondering if anyone here has put up the money and wait time for one of these guns? I was thinking about getting on the list next year for a tromix s17 build. Thoughts? Suggestions? I haven't even bought a Saiga 12 yet, I figured it would be easier and cheaper to just get one from them at the same time. John

not to get into "legal" issues, you can carry a gun like that as long as there is not one in the chamber. Plus, having one in a chamber with the barrel folded would be a dumb idea anyways (not sure if its even possible). On other notes, if you want to shoot something nicer, I have a sig 220 you can shoot or glock 22. I just sold the glock 27 to make way for something else...
-
What is the actual serial number? Was it CML052? Was it entered into NCIC? There are so many glocks and unfortunately guns are the few items that hardly get recovered, but I hope your buddy gets his gun back.

i think the point of the ksg was a lever where you could load two different types such as slugs and 00 buck and not necessarily switching to more rounds. For example, 50 yards you want slugs, 15 yards you want 00 buck.
-
I used a M&P40 for a while and I must say it's a very comfortable gun. It's definitely one step above Glock in the grips/comfort department. As for reliability I never had a problem with the one I had, but I didn't abuse it, I kept it clean/oiled and it didn't jam.

Got Something in the mail today (Hogue Grips)
alwaysonjohn replied to alwaysonjohn's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
the wait time was killing me. Some may not like the piranha grips since they are pretty rough. On to my next project: getting my manners stock (3 more months to wait for my order)! Then its getting my NFA Trust done, 300BLKOUT SBR, Suppressor, and finally my Tromix Saiga that I always wanted... -
Well about two months ago I decided to fix up my Sig 220 Stainless Elite. I hated the fatness of the stock wood grips and also the dull looking screws so I ordered some new screws and the Extreme G-10 Piranha Grip G-Mascus Black/Gray. They finally came in today so I took some before/after pictures. The new grips are slimmer, rougher, and lighter. So here are the pictures to prove it!

I would get a traditional scope. That way they can zoom in and play with it. I got a 3-9x Barska Scope with rings for around $35 for my 10/22 recently (yes I still shoot it) and I'm enjoying it.

Good Three Point Sling
alwaysonjohn replied to MiddTennTaco's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
i too like the padded vtac, its my favorite two point sling. I hated the ms2 from Magpul since its too thin, but I still haven't sold it. Supposedly the ms3 fixed that problem but after the ms2 I won't buy it. The MS2 was a one point sling that easily and quickly converted to a two point. I used it with quick disconnects. The newest sling I bought is the Patrol Vest Sling which I plan on wearing on duty down the road (as long as it gets approved). It uses a velcro design to attach to body armor and stay on underneath the t-shirt. It is a one point sling by design but it has many adapters to make it attach to virtually any weapon how you want it. Of course its specifically designed for body armor. -

will a 45 can work well too? I honestly don't own any 9mm. all my pistols are 22, 25, 40, 45. I looked at the Spectre II, it looks pretty nice and the price is pretty good too.
