Just opened the first bottle of Eagle Rare that was recommended to me recently. I like it much better than the Four Roses Small Batch and Corner Creek that were also recommended to me. But I'll see how I like the other two over time. I've learned that I sometimes grow to like some things more after I've had it a few more times. However, the Eagle Rare is really good. The Ruger MKIII 22/45 is a fine choice and one of my favorites. And when it comes to opinions about .22 pistols and rifles, I am reminded of the old E.F. Hutton commercials..."when graycrait speaks, people listen." [emoji4][emoji106] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

On the topic of Rum, the best I've ever had is Prichard's Private Stock. I don't know if they are distributing it to stores yet, but it is available at their distillery shop. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

CMP has HXP with clips and bandoliers in spam cans
LCPfraTN replied to LCPfraTN's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
The crates are no longer available. They have already depleted their supply. On my first order of three, I got a crate and a separate cardboard box with the can inside. My second order was all separate boxes. I believe the CMP forum said they were out of the wooden crates after the 10/4/15 orders were processed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Anybody pick up any of this from the CMP yet? 192 round spam cans loaded in clips and bandoliers for $115 shipped. I ordered a few cases a couple weeks ago, but they didn't ship out until I was out of town for a few days, so I have to go pick them up this week at FedEx. Great price for reloadable boxer primed ammo with extra goodies. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

The part of the bill changing the CMP's charter to allow the sale of these 1911s is a very small part of the defense bill. I'd be surprised if Obama will be willing to take the flack for vetoing the bill just because of this small amendment...but I've been surprised before. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Don't be fooled by what appears to be readily available 22LR ammo in west TN because it is far from it. Unless you just happen upon it at the right time or get to one of the stores in time that you hear about, it's still not readily available unless you want to pay up for it. Purchase quantities are generally still limited too. Notice also, that most of what you are seeing posted is 50 and 100 round boxes with purchase limits. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Finnish M39s at Classic Firearms
LCPfraTN replied to LCPfraTN's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Unfortunately, a lot of the M39s buyers are receiving did not live up to the puffery in their website video. My hand select rifle would have been pretty good if it didn't have a long crack in the forearm of the stock. I decided it was worth keeping as long as Classic gave me a refund of the hand select fee, which they did do. Too many of these rifles were shipped with horrible cracks and many were hand selects. I think Classic is ruining their reputation with their sales tactics. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Finnish M39s at Classic Firearms
LCPfraTN replied to LCPfraTN's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
The force was strong with this one...the temptation too great...I succumbed and added a VKT to go with my Sako. [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Classic Firearms apparently bought the bulk of the remaining cache of Finnish M39s that Pat Burns has been slowly selling for years and has put them up for sale on their website. They have Sako and VKT versions for sale. [emoji3][emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you really have to have a thumb safety, a Kahr is out. I love my Kahrs, but I don't consider them pocket pistols. I like Seecamps, LCPs and the S&W Bodyguard for pocket carry, but you don't have thumb safeties on all of them. What you do have is long smooth DAO triggers that take some practice to get good with, but are all are great guns. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Unfortunately, Midway doesn't give C&R licensee's dealer pricing anymore. [emoji20] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have to agree with Hozzie...they can't do anything about how their emails are handled by your email service provider and their cash versus credit card pricing is stipulated in their terms. I will say that Bud's Guns got enough flack about this in the last that they changed their pricing presentation and show both prices now, but SOG is not as sophisticated as Bud's so I don't expect them to change any time soon. I've ordered several C&R guns from them with my license and have had no problems. I don't like that I can't easily buy non-C&R guns from them directly and have them sent to the FFL dealer of my choice...so I am a bigger fan of AIM Surplus and Classic Firearms for their ease of ordering anything, but I won't throw SOG under the bus because they do have some great deals from time to time. You know guys, there have been plenty of threads in the past trashing and bashing CTD, and I participated in the trashing and bashing. I stated my position on dealing with CTD above. There are lengthy threads on Surplus Rifle Forum and Gun Boards about this ammo, but I didn't see anything on this forum and I wanted to make sure anyone here that might be interested wouldn't miss out. If all you have to say is more CTD bashing...it's been done enough already and I get it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I only shop CTD when they have deals that you can't find anywhere else...makes me feel like I'm taking advantage of them that way. [emoji2] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My favorite vendor CTD [emoji6] has some really cheap surplus .303 British that appears to be mostly HXP in the 480 round cases that are still remaining. The cost is less than Mosin 7.62x54R and HXP is brass cased and boxer primed ammo. I bought some of the grade A that they had last Fall and it was really nice stuff, but almost twice this price. Some of this will probably need to be cleaned up, but still a great price while it lasts. I'm surprised they still have any of it left since they've been selling it for about a month now. Congrats to your Father! I think he received a very fair price for that revolver. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I think it should bring $300. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I obviously think you made a wise choice as you can probably tell from my avatar. [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'd actually put the value on that one at above $250, and probably closer to $300 especially if it's a model that came after the R-101 series. The snub nose nickel finish Hi Standard Sentinels in that kind of condition are harder to find. If the other side doesn't have scratches on the frame from the cylinder ejector (the R-101 and -100 are known for this because the ejector rod didn't have a return spring), I'd ask at least $300 for it if it were mine. As previously indicated, most pistol issuances and training are based on your military job (MOS) and/or your rank. Many NCOs and officers are issued pistols. It was a long time ago for me, and certainly things have changed, but I carried a pistol almost my entire time in the Marine Corps. We didn't receive any pistol training in boot camp, but I became a squad leader in a 60mm mortar section of a weapons platoon soon after boot camp and received training with the 1911 and carried one for about a year. Then, I was honored to serve on Embassy Duty and carried a revolver every day for over 2 1/2 years. I think we had close to a week of pistol training at Quantico before serving on Embassy Duty. I purchased a Zastava M70a a few months ago from Bud's Guns. I had to have the first one sent back for replacement because the magazine disconnect safety kept locking up the trigger even when the magazine was fully seated in the pistol. I still haven't taken the replacement that I received to the range, but the magazine disconnect safety doesn't seem to be defective thus far. I wouldn't trust this as a carry gun because of the magazine disconnect issues. I found a video on YouTube where a guy was talking about this problem and showing what the likely cause was.
