  1. I am copesetic with the current design
  2. Perhaps make the url optional... and maybe make having the username on there optional, as well.
  3. I've never had an issue with any AR15 or M16 I've owned or fired, other than the occasional failure to strip the first round from the magazine. There is nothing wrong with the weapon's design in the least, the direct-impingement system simply compromises resistance to fouling with lower reciprocating mass (thus higher sustained accuracy). It's simply foolish to state that mounting something externally would affect the reliability of the gun, unless we're talking about an inertia-operated gun, like a Benelli M1. I've got an AK-74 now, not that I think they are generally any higher quality than AK-47s, but because the ammo is cheaper... actually, in most cases, the guns are the same except for the bolt, magazine and size of the bore. The 5.45x39 round is superior to the 7.62x39 when it comes to longer range shooting (flatter trajectory, similar to 5.56 nato), and I've found it to be more accurate and easier to hit with. I would have no qualms with going back to an AR platform someday...

  5. Awww... da' po' widdol poweece awfissus feewings ah huwt!
  6. Welcome from Tullahoma!
  7. They would have to properly post the parking lot to prevent carry of firearms there. Even the unsecured area of the Nashville Int'l airport wasn't properly posted last time I was there. You would have been fine, as long as you have a permit.
  8. Exactly... though it is impossible to fully support the groove in casing above the rim, which is where this rupture occured.
  9. Not having been hassled, myself, after OCing for several years now all over mid-tn... And not having been forced to use my weapon either. I can't honestly say that it is worth it or not. Either of those things occurring is a big 'IF', and based on the publicized reports, the outcome is favorable to the the person OCing when there is misconduct by LEOs... and there is no evidence or reasonable suspicion that OCing would increase the risk of criminal activity. There's no down-side. In the summer, I can carry and stay cool while carrying something bigger, more effective, and easier to quickly bring to bear. I don't OC in the winter much (unless I take my coat off)... it's mainly a convenience thing.
  10. The round was certainly majorly overcharged, based on the condition of the case and primer.
  11. Hallo mein neuer Freund, Willkommen zu den Tennessee Gewehr-Inhabern!
  12. I took my future BIL shooting early on... He's very respectful.
  13. I'll buy that he may have an attitude problem, and I agree that is not a good combination to have when carrying a gun. But, is it proper police procedure to provoke and escalate a situation with a person who is doing nothing illegal, regardless of their fondness for police 'authoritai'? Methinks that it would take a LEO with a power complex of his own to bring that situation to this conclusion.
  14. I'm hoping to make it... I'm sure that it will have similar vendors as the Pope shows, given it's location.
  15. I've run into a couple who have done it. It's just as much speculation as a driver safety instructor telling their student's not to drive a sports-car because they might get a ticket by drawing more attention simply due to appearance. Yes, exactly!
  16. They are indeed junk. Don't bother with them.
  17. How is either one anything other than the visible existence of a legal form of protection which could cause harm to someone who disregarded it? Or is it 'tactically superior' to conceal the fact that you have a guard dog, to let the dog get the drop on them ? Do "Beware of Dog" signs cause more dog-nappings? Uhhhh... no.
  18. One of the popular arguments for Open-Carry is very similar to having an ADT sign, or a "Beware of Dog" sign in your front yard. It may be just as effective to let either of those things be a rude surprise to someone trying to break into the house... but has certainly proven to deter many before they even attempt it. And in the cases of a determined criminal, the mode of carry will matter zilch. I'd much rather be able to get to it quickly. Tactical disadvantage? Pure speculation in the absence of evidence.

  20. Now the question should be... What will people notice first, that they are topless, or they are armed?
  21. That's true... I do. (that logic works both ways, ya' know...)
  22. There will always be those who choose to flash their breasts in public... and there will always be those who choose to be visibly armed. All of the temporary regulations this government can put on paper will not change thousands of years of human nature.
  23. The case ruptured, and the barrel contained it very well. Nice to see that the metal components didn't come apart like I've seen several other handguns do.
  24. Same as anything else that is controversial. And for the record, I don't think that anyone who doesn't OC is any less 'worthy', respectable, or capable of influencing freedom. We just don't agree, and some of you like to hypothesize grave consequences for actions which you disagree with. That's you prerogative, I suppose. The problem isn't with the opinion, it's with the mentality perpetuated by it... which falsely concludes that rights must be hidden to be protected.
