G&A Reviews the H&K P30 and declares it a home run hit
molonlabetn replied to TGO David's topic in Handguns
If a BG was about to be right on top of me... I'd pull it a third time, too. -
would it be worthwhile to specify in Article III that the members must be able to legally possess firearms (ie, barring known felons, etc...)? You won't be able to perform background checks... but the membership application should probably require signed affirmation that they are not a criminal or otherwise prohibited from possessing firearms. It might also be worth stating that the organization will not condone discussion or participation in illegal activity, or activities which violate the school's policies. Looks good to me.

G&A Reviews the H&K P30 and declares it a home run hit
molonlabetn replied to TGO David's topic in Handguns
If a gun will second-strike, it will usually fire a hard primer. If I have a limited number of rounds at my disposal, in a fast-paced situation... you'd better believe that I'd hit it a second time before performing a failure drill! -
I don't agree with the draft, either... for similar reasons as others have stated. But, I do think that there would be benefits to mandatory military service for men and women, regardless of background... everyone wants equal rights and opportunities right? those come with equal responsibilities). Effect with placement based on aptitude, college financial-aid, opportunities for officer training, and retirement upon completion of voluntary continued service. There would obviously have to be accommodations for those with adverse medical conditions, pregnancy, young children, religious factors, etc... but not really much difference beyond how those things are handled currently.

G&A Reviews the H&K P30 and declares it a home run hit

I'm still looking for mine... The XD I have and the P239 were both very close, I'm hoping that the P2000 will be it, kinda in between the two. -
Well crap... the 1.6% occurred I have to go in early to take care of some stuff. I won't be able to make it to Nashville tonight... I'm sorry guys, Tungsten... I'll have to make it another time. Guess ya'll don't have to worry about the weird guy OCing restricting dinner options Sorry again, I was looking forward to this one... hope it turns out better than I'd hoped though.

VCDL - Manassas City Police Abuse of Authority
molonlabetn replied to TGO David's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
In that instance, they were not enforcing any 'law'... if they had been, there would have been arrests made. As it was, they were simply intimidating people who's practices they did not agree with, legality be damned. -
Anywhere's fine with me, name the place... I assume around 6pm or 'quarter-till.

*Special* 155gr .40s&w from Georgia Arms
molonlabetn replied to molonlabetn's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
H&K, Glock, and Baby Eagles are the most common poygonal-bore handguns. XDs are conventionally rifled, and would have no problem with these rounds. -
$140 per 1000rd... http://www.georgia-arms.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=3187 I don't shoot .40, but I saw this and thought somebody might want to jump on this deal. I would!

Howabout a postal-match? That would be a neat monthly thing to do...

Well, the one good thing is, if the Nashville chapter officially goes t**s-up (again)... Chattanooga is the same distance from me as Nashville. I'll look into making a visit.

Glocks and things like kabooms, firing out of battery, etc...
molonlabetn replied to TGO David's topic in Handguns
Good point. I don't know anyone who mics all of their ammo before loading and firing it... and there is no way to verify the powder load, so if a handgun blows up, it can only be attributed to a design flaw or defect of the gun, or improperly loaded / out-of-spec ammo. I suppose the user's intelligence might come into play in terms of not clearing a squib load and firing another cartridge right behind a lodged bullet, or the questionability of buying a particular brand in the first place... Having a negligent discharge is certainly a result of a lapse in judgement, or incompetence in the first place... -
As of right now (0448 CST 9/18), I am 98.4% sure that I will be there. See ya'll when I wake up...

Sounds like I'll have to buy another .22 pistol... I don't have one currently.

I've seen them at WM as well... They are of noticably lower quality than the 700, but for the price I've heard they are worthwhile. Good for hunting, not so much for precision shooting. 7mm is plenty for any game we have here in TN.

TFA Nashville Chapter June Meeting (06/19/07)
molonlabetn replied to TGO David's topic in Events and Gatherings
When/where did they announce this? This is the first I'd heard of it still being alive... -
I used to have a PT-145. (it wasn't a 'Pro', though...). It makes every other handgun which I've owned look really good. I'd suggest a 24/7 before any other Taurus product.

I'd be surprised if many criminal shootings are committed with legally-acquired, registered handguns... So IF they actually get a hit on a spent casing at a murder scene, it will most likely point to a gun which was reported stolen years prior. Criminals are dumb, and I hate to underestimate that, but how likely is it really for an unstable person to pass a background check, wait the 3 days, and take their new (microstamp equipped) handgun over to blow Johnny's head off? Besides that, what's to stop the perp from picking up their brass? Or, worse yet, leaving someone elses' microstamped brass there to be found... This one has all the signs of being regulation for the sake of regulation... not to save lives. It would be more effective to require serial numbers on the base of bullets themselves (same # on all bullets in the box), which could at least be traced to the original retail buyer via DL# or something. (not that I'd advocate that as very effective, either...)

I hear they all look the same, but smell different...
