I wonder how often we each have been so close to disaster, but never found out...? You're right, a good reason to carry indeed! Glad everyone involved is okay, and properly disposed.

G&A Reviews the H&K P30 and declares it a home run hit
molonlabetn replied to TGO David's topic in Handguns
Well, for the record... Pretty much every PD which I have seen purchasing new standard sidearms in the last few years, has been replacing their Glocks predominantly with Sigs or M&Ps. There are still a good number out there which use Glocks, but their numbers are being displaced by other designs. And most specialized units chose to acquire (surprise!) 1911s... The Glock was the Polymer king of the late-80s and 90s, but they just haven't matured at the same rate as other manufacturer's designs (rather, hardly at all...). This argument isn't even as simple as Chevy vs. Ford... it is more like comparing an '86 Camaro with an '06 Mustang. Technology has moved on since the inception of the original design, no question... I'm a Chevy guy, but I still have a firm grasp on reality Noone would argue that just because most departments still use older full size Fords & Chevys, that either is the opitome of vehicle perfection... -

Those look like 2 different versions... the PDW and the Pistol, perhaps? Looks like it takes Glock magazines, by the angle of them... -
Middle TN: Class III Demo and all around good time?

Bring the beater. Trust me. -
Spent mostly in quiet reflection when possible... caught a few of the commemorative events broadcast and local. Spent most of the day working... and also had to bury my wife's old beagle, which certainly added to the sadness of the day.

Perhaps I should get another Sig then... "To hell and back..." -
One could argue that the purpose of self-defense is not to ultimately cause loss-of-life, but to prevent it using extreme (necessary) methods... Execution is performed with the sole intent of removing a soul from the mortal plane... hopefully after all steps of due process have been fairly taken. Looking at it from another angle, however... execution is merely a belated reaction which the victim(s) of the accused were incapable of performing at the time of their own demise. The end result is the same as lethal self-defense, only, the direct victims of the crime are no longer present to benefit from it, and the perpetrator has had time to ponder and be faced with his/her actions in the full view of the public.

If the photo is already hosted on another server, just click the button in at the top of the new-message input field, and paste/input it's url. If you need to upload it from your hard-drive, click on the "Photo Gallery" link at the top, in the menu bar, and then Click the "Upload Photos" link in the upper right on the next page... it will guide you through it. Once uploaded, you can select your photos to insert in your message in the Advanced message input screen (hit "Go Advanced").

Aside from the initial, minor QC issues I've heard about, they seem to be awesome rifles... I got a high-end AK instead, after tossing the 556 idea around for a couple months, but if .223 ever comes back down in price there is still hope.
-
What about lethal self-defense in public with a firearm? Is that not state-sanctioned if one has a 'carry-permit'? Or, lethal-force used by police?
-
Not actually... If the state isn't the party making the decision whether to execute or enforce lifelong confinement, they aren't sanctioning execution (unless using a loose definition of 'sanction' as 'permission')... they merely pass that decision/responsibility on to the people, on an individual basis.

Just about every new Sig I can look up costs more than it's H&K counterpart by about $50-$100... So does nearly any 'tactical' 1911, by alot more. Heck, even a brand new Beretta M9A1 or 90-Two will run nearly what a full-size USP 9mm does. ...from the places I can look up online, anyways, like impactguns.com and budsgunshop.com. -

I can probably make this one. -
I don't think that executions should have to be state-sanctioned, or a cost burden on taxpayers... just so long as there's an effective mechanism for good people to eliminate evil from society, I'd support it privately and voluntarily. Found guilty of a capitol offense? You are then handed over to volunteers who have 'bid' on your sentance-contract, whether they be people who choose to pay for your care to keep you alive in confinement... or people who choose to swiftly execute you. Neither choice would be involuntarily imposed or taxed on anyone other than the judged.
-
I regret that anyone would get to the point of being capable of the evil this man carried out... it's a sad thing. However, I am not sad that appropriate justice will be carried out by the state, and by God thereafter. He made his choices, regardless of his motives or frame of mind at the time (which noone else can judge), and he should be held accountable for them. This seems appropriate to me, and apparently does to him as well, marked by his resignation to the fate which he has been judged to fulfil, and chosen to endure.

Attention Wal-Mart shoppers…. Look what you paid for.

I suppose the same argument could be used that the petroleum consumption of the US is what primarily funds terrorist operations which kill Americans. But, in reality, countries and groups will find a way to carry out their agenda with or without our help. (ie N. Korea) -
I bet they are nice to suppress... no gas blast in your face.

I'll be surprised if they are much more $$$ than the P2000 line, which are very affordable compared to any high-end 1911 or Sig. -

JD pie...? Is that the kind that you mix together, put in the oven, sit back with a bottle of Single-barrel, and know that it's done when you're too drunk to tell how long the pie has been in the oven? Hmmm... that works for beer & bbq, why not pie? Thanks for the recipe... I like Rooster's adaptation as well!

Actually, it was more like: "I took a ****ing class, and here is the bad-*** fighting **** that I ****ing learned" Yeager is irrelevant, truly... He's welcome to the personal successes and failures in his life; but don't try and argue that he is a competent warrior. Too many real soldiers know that he is not, regardless of my opinion or perspective on what I've seen and read. The few things which I have seen directly from him were unwelcome, even before his questionable past was brought up here. We are all free to be impressed (or not) by whomever we please.
