  1. I honestly don't care too much how anyone tries to label any type of firearm... there shouldn't be restrictions of ownership by certain 'classes' of citizens upon others. The government should answer to the people, and that cannot be if the people are powerless, or tightly regulated.
  2. follow your instincts
  3. Long-range BBQ seasoning? http://www.seasonshot.com/
  4. Hands off-a me Lucky Charms or I'll blast ye'!
  5. I see this smilie was appropriately added for just such an occasion... Do you think that Jeffrey Skilling would make a good Business Ethics professor?
  6. The X5 has a longer barrel (5"?), and I believe most come with a SAO trigger.
  7. I do not personally know anyone who despises him, or has an ill-will towards him. But many people who I do respect, do not respect him... he would have a lot of bad reputation to overcome for me to come to respect him, and even then his attitude displayed on this forum would not be easily forgotten. I would have no problem explaining that to him in person. The insinuation that he wants to fight or intimidate anyone who voices poor conclusions drawn against him based on his reputation and correspondence, only counts against him further... And confirms any suspicions regarding his character which I personally may have had.
  8. I needed that, today...
  9. To who, you or him?
  10. If it keeps you alive when/if the time comes... that's what matters. I sincerely hope that the money was well spent, in that regard. You won't hear many (if any) positive things from people who actually depended on Yeager when the SHTF... Especially from the dead ones. He's great with people who think he's the schiznit, and unquestioningly fall in stride with spoken bravado. I've got no beef with him (other than his attitude), may he live forever.
  11. I was pulling for Sen. Ed Kennedy in that role...
  12. Is Hillary a Sith... or the Emperor? ...and more importantly, who equates to Yoda in this race?
  13. Save yourself some money: http://www.bushmaster.com/catalog_parts_upper_receivers.asp#BURA3B16M4GP I've heard some rumors of 416s having parts breakage sooner than the traditional DI system (makes sense... more moving parts = more opportunities for failure). The AR's beauty, and inherent accuracy is a result of the low mass of the reciprocating parts. If you want a reliable gas-piston rifle, get an AK or FAL. The standard AR is far more reliable than the hyped criticism it receives, and is very accurate to boot. I don't see the 416 going anywhere... not with the Sig 556 and XCR already on the market, and the Magpul Masada looming.
  14. I see Fred Thompson as an excellent opportunity to postpone the Apocolypse for another 4-8 years. Go Fred!
  15. Some scoring systems (using targets with X, 10, 9, 8, 7,... rings) give more point 'weight' to the hits which are closer to center... This method is preferred, but the TN requirment is simply to hit the black portion of a B26 (I think?, or B-27?) silhouette. Either way, you passed with an excellent score! Congrats!
  16. I believe that Don Hume has a few open-top leather paddle holsters as well.
  17. Perhaps the government should outlaw mental instability, making 'crazy' a felony... I'm sure that will be very effective
  18. The Kahr will be the smallest and highest quality, though I believe that the PF-9 is slightly narrower.
  19. I've never had an issue with the .357sig ammo I've gotten from them... but I've had numerous .45acp cartridges fail-to-return-to-battery in a couple of guns (out of spec cartridge?), which would eat everything else including Wolf. Their rifle ammo is excellent...
  20. Winchester loads their Ranger .357sig anemically, likely so as not to compete too much with their +p+ Ranger 9mm... but even so, it launches its pill 100fps faster... The same velocity as the WWB .357sig practice loads. For a true comparison, find a 'real' .357sig load, such as Double-Tap or Buffalo Bore... Then we're talking a nearly 300fps difference. Or, my favorite load, the 147gr at 1300+ fps... Seems to me that many folks like to denigrate the Sig cartridge from a closed mind... but show them similar numbers associated with .357magnum and all you'll hear is what a helluva cartridge it is, or how it's a 'for sure' load... Sure, it's a bit more expensive to shoot (about $30 per case)... but no more so than .45acp or even .40s&w if you get the ammo from the right place. And, it's performance is certainly more in-line with those cartridges than the cheapest 9mm. If I want to plink cheaply, I break out the .22... but if I want to practice, there is value in practicing with a load which approximates the recoil of an actual carry load... not some watered-down load which will desensitize me to how it will function in actual usage.
  21. to avoid battering or blowing up a 9mm with ammo which is marked exceeding SAAMI pressure specs, just to come within 100-150fps of a decent .357sig load. And to be able to practice with loads which compare to those hot carry loads for a reasonable price. Same reason folks carry .357magnum instead of .38special +p when they want power.
  22. touche'! I'll take you up on that... hopefully we'll have a mid-tn shoot again soon.
  23. Awesome rifle man! It needed a good home, I'm sure you'll provide it. (I guess I'd better behave, if I ever want to shoot it... )
