  1. I gave our tickets to my father-in-law, otherwise I'd be there too. Probably won't make the shoot though.
  2. Melting the platter is the best option.
  3. That article makes it sound like we should be ashamed to be carrying a pistol... It's one thing to recognize when discretion is needed or not, truly another to be so paranoid when you're not doing anything wrong (at least in many states).
  4. Jeez. That's dissapointing. It's always better to let the other party be the 'bad guy', instead of trying to pre-empt a reaction by involving someone who doesn't even set store policy.
  5. I've been wondering how long it would be before Google developed their own browser... cool. If it's an improvement on Firefox, I'll be all over the Linux version.
  6. The kid will have good genes. No complaints here.
  7. I can only imagine what kind of photoshopped pictures will be popping up in the next few weeks... Either way, I thought she was a good pick even before I saw a picture... but now that I have, and fully recognize that she is indeed a very attractive woman (her husband is a lucky man), I am even more impressed. If anything, it will make more people pay attention.
  8. For the first time, I am excited about this election.
  9. Don't pursue non-lethal methods if there is sufficient reason to fear serious harm from the guy. If he comes after her again, it should potentially be the last thing he does... but, for no other reason than to prevent harm to the victim. It would be a bad idea to escalate the situation by seeking him out to threaten him once he is released. That indicates premeditation and desire for retribution, if an incident did occur. Bad mojo.
  10. Be scared... be very scared...
  11. Hmmm.... Might be onto something there...
  12. I've handled the 2 or 3 I've seen at Hero-Gear. VERY nice, well put-together pistols... probably the first 9mm/.40 gun I've seen rival a P7 for slimness. Has a 'Glocky' trigger, but better. I'd check one out before anything else, given your criteria.

  14. What's the prognosis if you have a weedeater, but it won't start?

    any H&k guys?

The LEM is a weird trigger, that's for sure... One I've felt on a P2000 I really couldn't get used to, but a USP Compact I tried did much better. Like anything, I'm sure one could get used to it with practice.
  16. That's like asking if it's necessary to wear funny pants and hat to the golf course, or overalls to the Co-op...
  17. Heat and Goodfellas were awesome... these are two of my favorite actors. Definitely seeing this one.
  18. I have firearms-related dreams all the time... the gun always works, what sucks is I run out of ammo. (which is one reason I always end up placing my Georgia-Arms and Double-Tap orders in the middle of the night...)
  19. ...There's always .50beowulf, .458socom, and .45bushmaster...
  20. Double-Tap loads 6.8SPC: http://www.doubletapammo.com/php/catalog/index.php?cPath=21_69 It's not cheap, but then, none of it is yet. For hunting it'd be the best choice, but not for high-volume shooting. SD might be best served by a heavy .223, such as 75gr, etc... which would allow you to practice alot more for the money, and it'll make a BG just as dead.
  21. I had Easter Bunny and Leprechaun stew for dinner last night...

  23. I would have to watch it again to lay out a full list, and give it due credit or criticism. But I do remember from last year (when my wife took the class), that there was little if any accurate, up-to-date, or relevant legal information provided. Most of it was feel-good advice which was either misleading and had no basis in actual law. I haven't run across many knowledgable people who don't feel the video is at least inadequete, and at most a complete joke. Showing solely the video in a class would result in totally un-informed, confused students... if the state wants their permit-holders adequetely and uniformly certified, the information in the video should be complete and accurate, only requiring the instructor to emphasis and clarify the information, in their own presentation, instead of the current need to contradict and correct it.
  24. Quoted for effect. Considering that the majority of the information in the state's video is incorrect, misleading, or flat-out biased... and any instructor worth their salt has to spend most of the class time providing the correct information, which the video fails to provide, so the class is simply a 'certification'. Also, the range qualification is simply a rubber-stamp... I've heard of folks who were legally blind passing just fine. In light of this, unless the HCP class is combined with an NRA Basic Pistol class, or the like, it's in your best interests to get the cheapest one out there and do your own free research on the pertinent laws.
  25. Nope... the 9x18 is actually a 9.2mm bullet (.363"), and the .380 case is shorter, as well. It'll probably fire, but it won't be accurate, and the cases will bulge, maybe rupture.
