Alot of .38super double-stack guns are 18+1, which is phenomenal... and I would bet that since most newer pistols are chambered to accept 9x23mm as well, the barrels are most likely closer to .355 than .356 already. That's just a guess. The older .38super-specific guns are .356" for sure.

You can shoot .32s&w long and short in a .32h&r magnum gun... and the new .327magnum guns will shoot all four. You can shoot .45acp in pistols chambered for .45super. You can shoot .38super in pistols chambered for 9x23 (and sometimes vice-versa, the 9x23 is higher pressure than even .38super +p)

Stupid SBR question...
molonlabetn replied to creeky's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Converting an AR pistol into an SBR also requires that the receiver be engraved, correct? -
I would argue that if you plan to carry and use an off-hand flashlight... it would behoove you to carry a firearm which is less likely to require reloading (such as a high-capacity pistol).

.38super is best in double-stack guns as a good high-capacity and major power-factor combination.

Anyone wanna throw in on an M60???
molonlabetn replied to Magiccarpetrides's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
If it was a 240, then we might be talkin... -
If it's a .40s&w M1 Garand, yeah...

Another holster thread...finish wear
molonlabetn replied to fizik's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Kydex holsters generally wear in distinct patterns or locations on the firearm, whereas Leather will rub off the finish more-or-less uniformly... I prefer kydex holsters for polymer-framed pistols (that way the main retention points are plastic-on-plastic), and I'm a big fan of stainless all-metal guns in leather holsters... don't have to worry as much about rubbing or moisture held against the surface by the leather. -
Buying a nice 1911 is like buying a restored/rodded classic American muscle-car... depending on who put it together it'll spank the ever-living-**** out of your neighbor's European coupe, and even if it doesn't, it'll look and sound a whole lot better doing it... maybe it's not as user-friendly around town, but all faults disappear when you press the gas/trigger.

No reason not to. It's just un-necessary... Remember also, that I don't clean my regular shooting pistols until they start to jam (which for the XDs has always been well into the second case, or sometimes the third). So the mags generally have a combined gunk buildup of a couple thousand rounds, plus dirt from dropping them... which is usually alot. I clean the carry guns more... usually moreso on an interval basis (every month or two), than a round-count or their performance.

Honestly, it should be the victim or their next-of-kin's choice as to the disposition of a person sentanced to death. Give them the last word regarding whether they are kept alive to contemplate their 'issues', or are immediatly thrown into a pit of starving wild pigs. I think at some level, the victim (not the criminal) deserves the opportunity to gain closure either through some measure of forgiveness, or through what they see as appropriate justice.

Do you carry with a round in the chamber?
molonlabetn replied to bubbiesdad's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Yep... I keep gas in my car, too, even when I'm not using it. -
I've got a few internal organs on e-bay right now, to fund my own... (the left kidney is going fast, might even be able to afford a suppressor!)

The only gun-shops which have ever lost my business were for 2 reasons, usually in combination: 1. Treating their customers as if they were an unworthy, inexperienced waste of their time, who possess far inferior firearms knowledge than themselves. 2. Attempting to take advantage of said customers as if their patronage is owed, regardless of the price. The gun-shops which have gained my business was also primarily for 2 reasons, usually in conjunction with one another: 1. Learn my name (even for just 15 minutes) 2. Waste no time in offering to put at least one of the guns I'm eyeing into my hands.

Yep, the individual parts needed would probably be cheaper... but the complete upper will be much easier, and then you'll be able to swap calibers much easier, as noted.

Sounds like a couple improperly sized cartridges were preventing full return-to-battery (which would disable trigger), and because the cartridges were oversized, the slide may have been more difficult to operate. I had this happen with a 1911 once, shooting cheap ammo in a tight chamber. One solution is to polish the chamber... but the best option is to find the brand of ammo your gun prefers. Doesn't sound like a magazine issue at all.

I'll disassemble mine every once in a while and clean them out with some Simple Green and a toothbrush. Maybe once a year...

I wouldn't suggest shooting slugs through a full-choke barrel... I've seen some handle it, but it's really not a good idea.

That's true... and this species might even be smarter than us, having avoided interacting with human society for so long. Oh well... first contact with a new, possibly intelligent species is represented by some rednecks who proceed to blow it's guts out. Sigh... It's probably not true anyways.

Let's say Hooters opened a drive-thru, manned by Rosie O'Donnell, but the same food was 20% cheaper if purchased at the drive-thru... Wouldn't we all still go in and sit down for a meal? Service before, during and after the sale matters, and I see that as somebody taking time to get me what I want conveniently and educationally, for a price. Niether Hooters girls nor gun-store clerks do what they do for just a pat on the back (however low that pat might be). But, if you know what you want, and don't and won't need or want any assistance getting it or resolving problems later... yeah, online is the most logical and cheapest solution.

And what about the creature?

Yep, once you factor in a $10 TICS, $30 or so for the use-tax, and some amount for the transfer... that $99 difference in the deal you mentioned would nearly dissappear.
