  1. In other words I have been known to cast into trees gentlemen, trees. I am out of practice in other words and asking if anyone wants some company somtime for a trip to the lake. Turns out a club where my friend is at routinely takes folks out with them if they do not have someone else to go with.
  2. Hello, I was talking to a friend of mine who found a group of folks in OK who sometimes take strap hangers fishing. In other words, I have fishing gear but no boat and wondered does anyone go fishing with a boat but doesn't have a partner who fishes for bass (and Woody Woodpecker occasionally). I figured I would ask around here as we have similar interests and such.
  3. People prop open doors like that all the time - employees taking out trash or going for a smoke. Easily able to pay for the ticket and walk out the back.
  4. Is that the sad state of affairs here in the US Patriot? I am afraid the answer is yes... The presser was really good by the govenor and the mayor. Unlike after the Lochner issue they were nonpolitical and didn't jump on stupid things - the governor even said something about going on about our lives and maintaing our freedoms (paraphrased). This is really sad, and very frustrating. I still intend to go. I am not worried, and will not allow this nonsense to cause me to be fearful to enjoy my life.
  5. Twitter killed their account right after this was posted. It came back with little explanation that I have heard of.
  6. Call Kimber. A buddy bought one used and had something break. He wound up with a brand new weapon.
  7. My only thought is that the people of Arizona have been without representation during nearly a year. It's awful yes, but really it should have been decided earlier without politics figuring into it.
  8. I would be interested, as the lady and I already have been exploring some although we do day hikes due to lack of camping equipment. Although... All this talk of gear makes me wonder why I do not see any firearms given the forum!
  9. Ok, I'm tracking what is fighting with you after your second post (hey it's early and I am waking up). I gently insert it with the slide stop below the spring until it rests on the frame and the push it up against the spring which allows it to pop into place. Only problem is the first time I did it I added my first scratch to my weapon. Haven't scratched it since. So be warned, it works but you may scratch the finish.
  10. I like the pacing thus far, and I definitly disagree with commercials. Seems like to me that the run time is longer than most shows. Now I am wondering if that is true or not.
  11. Sure was not an Abrams. Mine had about enough room in it to sneeze if you didn't mind blowing it on your own face! And only driving a few hours before ya gotta refil is bad with gas prices today haha
  12. I am sure the grip angle is going to drive me nuts for a few hundred rounds. Glocks just do not point well for me, however I am going to learn.
  13. tnhawk, that just gives it character My Kimber is about worn clean near the muzzle. Although when I first got it, I scratched it putting the slide release back in and nearly wept. Now I just look at it and say hey, its a working gun and that is nothing to be ashamed of.
  14. Thanks all. I basically decided that a Glock is more common and may be in my future line of work, so learning them now is a good thing. Nothing against the XD's, just figure if I am going to have to tote one someday for work, might as well get my hand broken from my 1911 (which is what happened to the XDs - I picked up my first 1911 not long after getting my permit and, well...) Thanks for the input folks, you have all given me good food for thought and a place to start. Much appreciated.
  15. I EDC three Surefire flashlights. One in my pocket and an additional two in whatever bag / jacket combination I am wearing. One in my pocket is a E2E that got me out of a mugging in my hometown in WV. Then I have a ED2 for long time "on" work as it is LED and variable output and a 6P. Why so many? Well with lights I follow the two is one one is none rule after having to many dump on me at just that moment when I am sticking my head into a hole where someone might be gonna poke me in the eye. I have not had any of my Surefires dump on me, but have ran out of batteries. My 6P has (through a dumb moment) been under the tracks of one of my M3 Bradley CFV at one point on concrete and other than being scratched up is still running great. Incidentally I also managed to let it get ran over by a light pickup once as well... I am hard on lights. Anyway, Surefire is expensive, and YMMV, but I have had great luck with the brand thus far. The white light versions do burn through batteries quick and get warm, but I use them a lot and honestly I have not bought batteries in quite a while. Have not replaced them in awhile either.
  16. Howdy folks, I have not been in a gun store in far, far too long. I have recently been thinking of picking up a Glock for carry. The thing is I have two weapons that fit that bill already, and I will probably have to trade them in to foot the bill. I have a .40 Springfield Armory XD Service with 3838 rounds through it and a stainless Sub Compact with 2321 rounds through it. Both are in excellent condition. Neither was carried much and both are cleaned and oiled after every trip to the range, and usually once every couple of months of sitting around. Cleaning my weapons is habitual for me since my time in the military. Both are mechanically sound, and I have five 12 round magazines for the service size, two 12 round magazines (with the grip extension) and a pair of the 9 round magazines for the Sub Compact size. Both still have all of the items that come in the box from Springfield as well. I have a IWB Galco holster that works with either. So, now all that said, I am wondering a) what I may get out of them and what does a 21, 30, and 36 run now days, (preferably with night sights) what do the magazines cost, and is there c) anything I should know about a Glock that I may not know having not owned one before. Just trying to gather some information before I go looking around gun stores seeing what I can see, since I figure there are a number of folks here that are "in the know" so to speak. I appreciate the input folks. Thanks
  17. CM1021... Where did you get your information? I watched the season's first episode and didn't catch it. Oh, and by who I wonder? Remember ol' boy's brother is still out there and probably a little upset after hacking off his hand. Made me wonder if it was him trying to get a little even. My biggest cringe was telling people that they cannot have their weapons. Undead wondering around and you want to have my weapon? I think not!
  18. The sling usually gets in the way as you have to pick up or ground the rifle in most stages I have seen - although it can be handy for moving from stage to stage.
  19. I figured so, but it is a firearm forum we can definitely forgive that!
  20. The executive is in charge of the military, and if POTUS is not signing death warrants but delegating that then it is a bigger problem than we think. The problem folks, and one I have said multiple times and been ignored and then insulted after, is that we have no proof of him being involved past blowing his mouth (first amendment, not second). If he had detonated bombs at abortion clinics he would be an operational terrorist, an less involved than what we know about his activities so far... So I am confused about how it would be a LEO issue then and not now. If he was a member of the KKK that went past their hateful rhetoric and launched attacks then he would be a terrorist and still not be assassinated, he would be hunted as a fugitive. The argument of he was AQ does not wash with me. What then keeps us from saying so and so is part of AQ to place them on a kill or detain list? Nothing. This is why we use separated powers, and do not deny citizens due process in any situation without two branches if government looking at the situation and saying "yup, kill that cheese-whiz fool twice." It is the same problem with us having a search warrant written by the same agency that executes it as a possible civil rights problem. Another thing that folks are not answering is where is the evidence that we knew he was a real bad guy, not just a half baked moron (which I believe he was anyway). Inspiring is odd language to describe someone who is a walking talking command and control facility. One last thing, I am fine that some folks disagree with me on it. That makes us a great nation where we can debate and come to a consensus, but disparaging remarks do nothing but chill speech and insult all of us.
  21. Dolomite, I am well versed in Constitutional issues and was making a point to a fellow poster, not to the board administrators. I find this atmosphere rather confusing as I have always thought this forum was very friendly to discussion on different sides, and the last batch I have found myself feeling defensive. If I have pushed someone into feeling defensive, as I have felt, know that I was simply voicing an opinion and questioning what has been said. That is all I am not judging what was done, just asking questions.
  22. I think it is... Inspiration can be as simple as a hollywood movie. It is bad yes, but what about figureheads that speak out against the government all the time in the media and such. Could that be used as grounds to take them out? If we are going to go after folks for sedition or treason that still gets a decision in court. Gadon (I spelled it wrong I am pretty sure) was tried in absentina for treason. Why not do the same thing here? Hey are both mouth pieces and it's a little different than Lindh, who was actively taking up arms and was in the combat zone This chucklehead is in a (supposedly) allied country and taken out through deliberate attack not in combat and as far as I know not an active combatant.
  23. Perhaps, however again why all the confetti and no real defining beyond the "inspiring" of attacks? By that standard no imam is safe in SWA and the mullahs in Iran are in for it... Of course that last part might not be such a bad idea...
