  1. good point, will have to take a measurement or two.   i haven't done anything yet
  2. Evening,   So I've got a one piece Weaver rail that I need to cut so that the scope objective bell will fit with the rings on the base.  Host is a Remington 700 short action.   I don't want to get taller rings as that will mess with my cheek weld.  So, I need to cut the rail.   Has anyone ever done this?  My guess would be a hacksaw and the hand file to smooth.  Finish with aluminum black or a paint pen.   Am I on the right track?
  3.   and that's why two of my cans are with them right now
  4. you have brought shame to this place, sir
  5. I know that a popular Magpul photographer was giving some of those away on his Facebook giveaway……...   I'll just say that you get what you pay for.  I value having an actual person I can call up when I have questions.
  6. John Wells set mine up.  I went to his office in Brentwood.  An hour and a half spent, well worth it.   1.5 hours = 30 minutes Trust talk/set up + 1 hour of ancillary gun talk
  7. Hallelujah, a conversion :)
  8. I remember doing the same analysis over an Aimpoint a year ago.     I bought the 4 MOA for two reasons:  1) it was cheaper and 2) I thought I'd be able to 'pick it up' easier.  It's the same logic that I used in getting a wider front sight post for my Service Rilfe in High Power competitions..........I'm likely to appreciate a bigger sight years from now when my eyes deteriorate.
  9. Agreed. I sent mine to Jeff at Guns and Leather and he installed the Volquartsen. Absolutely brilliant trigger pull! Granted, mine is a Mark II
  10.   I surmise you are correct, so my re-submission will only note the address i'll stay at.  hopefully if i step off that property DHS won't drop out of the sky and arrest me.
  11. from today's experience via USPS   when filling out form 5320.20 for interstate travel with an NFA item, in my case a SBR, your request will be disapproved if filled out like the below:     7.  Transporting to:   123 Name Avenue Sometown, KY 44444  and other surrounding areas in Kentucky       I had read online (mistake) that adding this would allow for legality across the entire state and that isn't the case.     a 5320.20 must be filled out for EACH location within the state
  12.     it was just for general info and offering my experience, but if you see my thread.........you'll note that my M1 is the former, not the latter :)
  13. I went for the Service Grade and I'd suggest the same for you.  I have a thread in Show & Tell with pictures.  http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/73772-m1-garand-cmp-sa-service-grade/   I was so pleased with the condition of the rifle and, as I learned more about the variety of WWII parts mine had, my appreciation grew all the more.  Throat/muzzle wear indicated it'll be a great shooter for years to come.   It can be a 'luck of the draw' when it comes to what the CMP sends but I think that's part of the mystique; it's very Christmas-morning like when that Fed-Ex employee marches to your door and drops off a piece of functional, beautiful and fleeting piece of history.
  14. Welcome.   I too live in Mt J.  I also shoot at Gallatin and I grew up in West TN.
  15. I bought the Silencerco Sparrow.  Two biggest reasons is the ease of cleaning and the customer service of the company.  It's not the lightest can on the market and it's also not the cheapest.........but for shooting a lot of nasty lead .22 I think it's the best one on the market.
  16. Daniel Defense makes great fixed iron sights.  not sure of your setup, but I don't find them to be 'in the way' of a red dot   Joe Bob or Primary Arms would be cheapest for them
