I'm sure some would think that. I was one of the ones who popped in and out. I'd already heard of it and so didn't have much to say. But I am still a gamer, even if I spend less and less time at it!! Also, it might do better over in the Zombie section....

Even if the frames last, your eyes will likely change and you will need new lenses. I would suggest talking to your optometrist about your long term needs to get an idea of what is going to happen. One possibility is buying the generic crap from the pharmacy. As you get worse, you can use them to try to compensate.

I agree with this except the part where you start telling them what happened in detail. Because you will leave out a detail or twenty, and when you retell it and change something that you had wrong, or remember something else he said it will sound a lot like you are changing your story. Used to work with cops day in and day out and everyone I spoke with told me pretty much the same thing, say you were in fear and STFU. The more you talk, the more they will have to testify to. If you tell two slightly different stories, a prosecutor or lawyer for the plaintiff can force them to say so on the stand, and it won't matter a damn if you were innocent.

Post Collapse Security Considerations
Makiaveli replied to plank white's topic in Survival and Preparedness
@TMF 18B I get what you are saying, but I don't think that would work if there was a total collapse. It would be more like the early 1800's, so yea the community would band together and form a "posse" once someone noticed that the 18B family hadn't come into town recently and they discovered your burned out home. Assuming the local small town still existed. This brings up the debate between security through strength or obscurity. Fences, patrols and cameras give away your position. Then again, hiding only works if they don't see you. -
Post Collapse Security Considerations
Makiaveli replied to plank white's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Not implausible that gangbangers with military training or ex-military types could plan such operations after a collapse. -
We aren't talking about the original story. I am trying to make a point to WD-40. Back up a few posts.

Ok you have changed the situation around. Before you were merely holding a gun on someone, now you are actively stabbing them. Also, your scenario is missing some key data. Is the guy on the ground? Is he actively attacking you? All of those would influence a decision to get involved and if so, to what extent. If you were holding him at bay, then the logical thing to do would be call 911 and stay out of it. If it looked like you were defending yourself from an ongoing assault, or were attempting to murder him, then the situation would call for more action on my part. I don't I ever said that someone SHOULD automatically shoot someone they see holding a knife or a gun. It depends on the actions of the other person, such as who is screaming DIE **********!!!! and who is screaming HELP!!! Now does it make some sense to you?

I disagree with this. To actually get a nuke to go off requires tolerances way beyond the norm. Unless of course that is government propaganda, but I think homemade nukes are Hollywood nonsense.

Yea would need to be sealed or you will get crappy results. I've heard that soaking will help resurrect it, but never tried it.

Private McDonalds: A Call to the Manager
Makiaveli replied to Paladin132's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I could be mistaken, but grew up there when Dad wasn't stationed overseas. The prevailing opinion back in the day before CC permits were available to the public (ie not counting "special deputy" etc badges) was that residents could carry etc. I will try to remember to ask my Dad to check with some of his buddies and find out what local LE say. -

Good point. But being a paranoid former-Boy Scout and a 2nd cousin to Murphy, I believe in redundant backups for the redundant backups. -

To clarify, I was referring to OCing without a permit is a resident only thing. So if you are a resident, you need a permit to CC. Non-residents need a permit period. -

@Caster and camp: I agree and a solar recharger is on my list. Also, the stove would come in handy if you needed to charge something at night as well. One final point is that why buy a single tasker if the multi-tasker works just as well? -
Unless my mind is failing, it stores well and is a good source of fiber. If you mean calorie to weight/size ratios and all that, then I am less than useful on that scale

This page says that the $5 permit is for 1-6 people. **edit** That is for BSF, LBL might be different.

Isn't that only for residents? At least that is the way it was when I was there. Not born (Army brat) but raised there. **edit** Doh! Got sidetracked. Meant to say way to go Paladin!! Got the word out to at least 2 people who now know for a fact that not all "gun people" are the crazy people that get interviewed by the media at NRA shows. -
Hold up there slick. Apples and oranges. You CHOOSE to allow that legal gun in your store. After the accident, you CHOOSE to ban guns. So WTF are you saying? You made the rules both before and after the accident. And guess what? You have to live with the consequences of both decisions. Don't try to make out like I am giving you grief. I stood up for your right to post, but apparently you don't have the "lead in the barrel" to return the favor. So either respond appropriately, or I will have to stop responding so as to not violate the forum rules as if I called it like I see it, I would violate a couple.

Look closer and you will see that I said that very thing. Then why not simply post that you reserve the right to refuse service to anyone? Then when some moron walks in, you tell them to either stop doing what you consider moronic or leave. You have chosen to ban everyone for the actions of a few. Fine. Your shop, your rules. But don't act all offended when someone comes along and says I won't shop there because you posted. You want people to accept your decision, then accept theirs. That's whole different discussion. Also, last I checked the Constitution didn't say anything about it. Personally I think you just let your liberalism slip through. So since you can't carry, we can't either? I thought it was because of the accidents? Also, it's your shop, your rules remember? You can choose to carry. The financial ramifications of that choice are on you and could potentially threaten your business's sustainability, but it's still a choice.

Let's clear something up here. I fully support your right to post. I get that sometimes it's a decision motivated by finances, insurance rates say. However, we all here know that it won't stop a criminal. The people MOST likely to cause a situation by accident are generally the ones who will carry right past your sign anyway. I do grant that anyone can have an accident, and that if no legal guns walk in your door, you will not have an accidental shooting involving a legal gun. The thing is you seem to be defensive about your decision. Some people here have been a bit overboard I think in jumping your case. But lets be honest here. You are asking your customers to give up the majority of their ability to defend themselves and trust you to cover that slack. Not likely to fly with this crowd.

First off I posted what I consider to be a simple and polite post. Please either post the same or just ignore me. If you took it as me being a smart-ass then just simply say so and I will clarify by either apologizing or explaining that you took it correctly. We straight now? Secondly, if I don't quote the law then anything I say would just be my opinion and that's damn near worthless, right? So I asked for clarification. OS and TMF cleared things up. Your sign is legal because it has a gunbuster. Now I just have one more question, what is the name of your business so I know the next time I am in C-ville?
-
Doesn't the posting have to include either the actual law or a "gun buster"? If so, then given that a flying fork is neither, what's your question?
-
I would like to know this as well...

Makiaveli replied to klamb5's topic in Survival and Preparedness
My interest in it lies more in the recharging aspect. A lot of people scoff at the idea of electronic devices after a SHTF event, but being able to turn on my Kindle/Nook and re-read a survival manual will be a big help. -
Wouldn't this assume that the person assaulting you was overreacting? IE shooting you simply because you were holding a gun? Same as before, if he came upon you shooting at a man on the ground, who wasn't trying to get up or was wounded then wouldn't be it logical, as well as correct to shoot you?
-
Didn't the question state you see a women being stabbed? By definition then you don't have to get closer etc to have an idea of what is happening. As to aggressor, if the woman is obviously being overpowered, is not presenting a defense, then regardless of who started it, the man is now committing a crime by continuing to assault some one who is no longer a threat. At that point, would it really matter who he is, why he is doing it etc?
