  1. Mostly ride bikes when I'm not shooting or hunting.
  2. Interesting point about 1680. I haven't made it to the accuracy stage yet, I have just been testing for function. Unfortunately I dont have a chronograph either. What charge would you recommend with 4198 and the 225gr hornady bullet? I may try that powder next.
  3. I ended up building my 300 with carbine gas on 16" barrel and wish I could have found one with pistol gas in stock. The only powder I have been able to get it to cycle reliably with is 1680 with 225gr hornady bullets. I tried Lil gun and 4227 with no luck using the same bullets. Eventually I want to get a smaller barrel and SBR it but this is mainly my hunting rig.
  4. Very nice looking rifle sir. Well done.
  5. I have a few comments regarding their build kits and customer service as I built a commander size in .45 not too long ago. It took 12 weeks to get just the build kit consisting of slide/frame/barrel. Bob kept giving me the runaround and making excuse after excuse for the delay. When I originally purchased the kit I was quoted 2 weeks but I guess that's how things go. The kit comes with prefit slide and frame and the fit was very tight. So much so that it required lapping of the rails (which is a good thing IMO.) After receiving the kit I discovered that the bushing holes were different sizes on each side of the frame. I then had to order an oversized tap and bushings from Brownells to correct that issue. That is my experience and I was less than impressed but that is just my opinion. Many on 1911forum would echo this but there are lots of happy customers as well.
  6. Very nice! I'm lacking a few parts to complete my 9mm pistol build but Ill share pics once completed. Do you reload? I'm curious how it will perform with 147gr subsonic loads? Edit-where did you get the ASC mags?
  7. Seems simple enough. I found a youtube video on the subject as well. Thanks.
  8. Well I started ordering a few parts so Ill begin my build within the next few months and will update as I go. I asked this question in another thread but how do you modify Uzi mags to work? I figured this might be the way to go since they are much cheaper.
  9. How exactly do you modify an uzi mag to work? Is there a thread or how-to somewhere?
  10. Wanted to post my first NFA item. I now have a SL barrel for the 9mm and the 45 can sounds fantastic on it, which surprised me a bit. My second item, an outback IID, should arrive some time next month.
  11. reviving this thread because Im almost ready to start ordering parts. Here is my list so let me know what you think: CMMG dedicated lower - 175 CMMG enhanced bolt (uses 5.56 hammer) - 210 DPMS upper - 87 lower parts kit - 60 ADCO 6" barrel - 160 pistol buffer tube kit - 70 Freefloat rail - unsure yet Total - $762 + shipping + $20 transfer fee I'm not sure what buffer to use with 9mm? What spring?
  12. I tried PSA recently as well because of the low cost. My experience echoes those of other forum members...SLOW shipping and very poor communication but I did get the product I paid for at a great price. I'll comment about JoeBob's service as well. I called CS (immediately reached someone) and inquired about sending FFL for a lower purchase. I sent a pdf copy of the license, via their convenient FFL page in the morning and they had the lower shipped that afternoon...outstanding.
  13. I'd like to see your build list as well Dolomite...if you don't mind that is.
  14. Type - Form 4 transfer suppressor Forms delivered - March 8 Check cashed - March 12 Pending - March 29 Approved - September 14 Picked up - ? still waiting on stamp delivery Examiner - Jason Bowers 170 days pending to approval
  15. That only applies if you purchase from another dealer and have it transferred to your local dealer (I believe that is called Form 3). My local also charges $100 for that. I would stay away from using nonserviceable cans on .22 as they can get really dirty....best just to get a dedicated can as you already plan to do. What is most important to you with your 9 and 5.56 cans? Weight? Price? Overall dB reduction? Those will all factor into what is "best" for you.
  16. You are right, my comment was based on the fact that I used the competition kit on my IDPA M&P. If it had been a carry gun I would have used the DCAEK.
  17. Yes, single point is definitely out...Ive tried those before and did not like it. Leaning toward the Magpul MS3 in 2-point configuration at this point.
  18. Awesome, thanks all. I'll take a look at all the suggestions. I will likely order from JoeBob...ordered several things from them and was pleased with the service and super fast (usually same day) shipping.
  19. The competition apex kit (2.5 lb pull) is around $90, but like I said with minor filing/stoning you can obtain a much better trigger without it. The high bore axis on the XD made it more difficult for me to reacquire sight picture thus slowing followup shots.
  20. Title says it...Im looking for a sling setup for my carbine. I want something that holds it fairly tight to my body. Maybe a 3 point? Is anything available that I can rotate it around to my back while riding my wheeler and then semi-easily shoulder it in the event I come across a varmint? Thanks for the input
  21. I'm a huge fan of the M&P line. I own a .45 fullsize and a 9mm pro. I shot the XD series and the bore axis just killed it for me. I also prefer the ergonomics of the M&P over the XD. Adding an Apex kit to it will take the trigger to a whole new level for you. You can closely replicate it by doing the Burwell trigger job if you are a DIY type of person. I improved the pull on my .45 a great deal by following the Burwell ppt.
  22. What discount is available right now? Promo code or something? 155 is not bad at all IMO and I would rarely, if ever, use HP's as this would be a range plinkster.
  23. Bummer. The mags looked proprietary but I wasn't sure. The one I found was the complete gun but I may just look for an alternative. Ive seen the CMMG in stock also. Is it safe to say you would prefer the CMMG over Oly Arms then?
  24. Anyone have experience with this brand? I found a few at a local dealer and have always been intrigued by 9mm in AR platform. I decided that a dedicated 9mm lower is the way to go and I would eventually like to convert this to an SBR. Any info/opinions much appreciated
  25. Wow. Those are impressive readings. Well done sir.
