  1. Good luck with the move. If you ever get back through Franklin Co., look us up. As a TN fan and as much as I dislike AL in the Fall, it has to be worlds better than Memphis on quite a few levels.
  2. OS, you just saved me a lot of time...I always thought I had to read everything on here:) On a side note...how many psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb? ... Only one but the bulb has to want to change. )
  3. In interest of not waiting:) somebody can come kayaking or canoeing with me while we wait for hiking weather. That being said, I'm down for a hiking trip when cooler temperatures arrive pretty much anywhere in the state or W. NC. Also am going to try a fall paddling trip to Eagle Creek in the Smokies...would be a hike in or paddle in trip.
  4. Still interested myself. Have been on the river most every weekend at least once but haven't done any camping mostly due to the recent heat and before that my schedule. Closer to the fall, I would definitely be up for some camping or backpacking.
  5. Made it. Will have to check out the mobile version next. <<<<< uh oh. What's up with the warn status? Honestly I didn't do it:) lol.
  6. My favorite part of the river is from the dam to Farris Creek Bridge, and for a second day Farris Creek to the outfitter is a pretty good trip. But at least a few times a year (especially if we have a group) we will start at the outfitter and float down to Chenault Ford and they shuttle us back to their campground. We will definitely get a group together this year if there is enough interest.
  7. Been enjoying canoeing/kayaking for prob about 6 years now, but mostly as a mode of wilderness transportation; none of that whitewater stuff, but it does sure look fun. I have one canoe and one kayak so far, so would have a couple of spots to share if needed. Also have a pretty good kayak/canoe rental place on the Elk River down this way. They also have a campground or you can camp along the way.
  8. I have been working 6 days the last few weeks, but hopefully that will calm down as this draws closer. Also as spring/summer gets here, I may start a canoe/kayak/camp thread companion to this one. I know of at least one other forum member close to my location that would probably attend. As to the ultra light crowd, I am sure that does make the hiking itself more comfortable, but after about 11 years of buying the latest/greatest/lightest gear possible, I just find the weight savings as an excuse to put more stuff in my pack:)
  9. I am definitely up for a trip. I am in southern Middle TN but have backpacking friends in East TN as well, so anywhere pretty much would be ok for me. Personally I would rather hike/backpack/camp in the colder months. Would also be up for an overnight kayak/canoe trip as well but that might be better saved for Spring/Summer for most.
  10. Backpacker magazine shuttled cars and did a one way trip from the TN side to the AL trailhead. Keeps the elevation gain to a minimum. Should still be on their website if anyone wants to refer to it.
  11. I have a 460, but I don't hunt...go figure.
  12. Closed my Regions account of 8 years last week. After explaining the reason why, she said that her husband will be glad to hear that others felt the same way as he did. Apparently he has to disarm each morning to help her into work. I assured her that there were many others that feel the same way. And I do have to say it is nice to not have to disarm at my new bank.
  13. I use a Don Hume inside waist band. Works fine, built pretty well. Wish I could adjust the cant but for the price, works great.
  14. I am thinking this comes from the old posting according to the ABC rules and might not be an intentional bar area posting? Very common for the firearms/where drinks are served posting to be located at the bar area. Never seen a chili's posted other than the ABC warning. I will look at the local Chili's next chance I get.
  15. Good News dralarms. Joe (at Hero Gear) had some really nice window decals made up with "Handgun Carry Permit Welcome" on them. Think there is a thread somewhere around here with the details/ exact wording. It definitely was nice to have no doubt that you were welcome as an HCP holder.
  16. That kind of reminds me of a John Prine song.
  17. Yeah the whole charging to cash a check that is written on their institution caught me by surprise a few years ago. I had written a check to a college friend to split some UT season tickets and they wanted to charge him 5 $ to cash it. Funny thing is....the lady tried to get him to open an account there so that he would not be charged the 5$. Of course he stated why would he want to have an account somewhere they didn't even honor their own checks. At the time, I had a loan tied up there, but after the posting, I will be moving my account in the near future.
  18. Unfortunately I was unable to carry. I am spending time in the great Commonwealth of Massachusetts where the revolution started but their idea of freedom is a little different these days from what I believe our forefathers intended. But later this evening I will be carrying my PF-9 for my ride from the Huntsville Airport back into Tennessee.
  19. Looks pretty good to me Joe. Am liking the new price. I remember I was in the store one day, and thought to myself, "Cool, they've got a Battle Mug on the counter for display." But after picking it up I realized it was someone's coffee.
  20. Chris Reed, the winner of this season's Top Shot was at the Outpost Armory today. Just as expected he was a great, down to earth guy. Think he would have fit in well around here, but is apparently leaving TN for MS soon.
  21. The Elk River over this direction always has its fair share of fly fisherman (less than 25 mi or so from you). I have tried a fly rod at one time; doesn't look pretty enough for me to break my cast out in public though. Always a lot of people below the dam, but quite a few holes further down too. And I will try not to float my kayak through your favorite fishing hole while you are fishing it...been on both sides of that coin up at Tellico
  22. Sounds like great idea David. Post the date and I will do my best to make it.
