  1. Congratulations on the job. Welcome back to TN.
  2. You could also consider a Don Hume Outside Waistband Holster. It is colder weather now; quite easy to conceal a OWB rig with a long shirt or jacket. Then when you get your nice IWB holster, you at least have holsters for two applications.
  3. Thanks to the newspaper over in Memphis, I have a list of everyone that has their permit. I discovered my old doctor and his wife have their permit, and therefore will be visiting them again when I need to. Also noticed a few of the local lawyers on the list if I were ever to need their services. I know a lot of people hate the fact of it being a public list, but am thinking that shopping for firearm friendly places around my local town, it is pretty handy.
  4. Welcome to TGO. I have been up that way many times on my way to Big South Fork.
  5. Cherokee National Forest is fine for carry. This changed back when carry was first allowed in WMA's. It is now on the Forest Service webpage of Cherokee National Forest. http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/cherokee Cherohala Skyway is listed as a National Scenic Byway....so are the rules different? Not sure about NC Nantahala National Forest another area the Skyway traverses......hmm.
  6. Welcome to TGO from Franklin County. Glad you found us.
  7. I have been to the prior two G and L shoots and have met nothing but good people. Not sure I can make this one, but once again I would like to thank Daniel for setting this up. If time/money permits I will attend. I would recommend this to anyone for a relaxed atmosphere of meeting some of your online friends and sending some lead downrange at the same time.
  8. Yes thanks for posting this. I checked the website before camping in Citico Creek Wilderness (Cherokee National Forest) the weekend following New Year's Eve and found this on their website, and was meaning to update it here, but you know what they say about good intentions:)
  9. Same here. Also had no problems with Federal Hydra-shocks either. (only two I have tried)
  10. Welcome to TGO. Glad to have you here. There is definitely more to this forum than meets the eye at first glance. A lot of good information and really good people, but I have also witnessed more compassion and generosity from TGO than from most organizations formed for "charitable" reasons (churches, civic groups, etc.)
  11. I have a Kel-tec P32 that I purchased from Hero-Gear when Joe ran a special Benefactor deal last Feb I think. It has been completely reliable at the range; and quite accurate. I have a Don Hume back-pocket holster, but can't quite access it as quickly as I would like with it; so I use a Desantis Pocket Holster for my front pocket that works really well with khaki's or dress pants. Haven't carried it much since cold weather, but I don't think you could ask for anything better to slip into a pair of dress pants or shorts pocket if you don't have an option of your primary weapon. I admit that sometimes (but not often) during the summer it was the only gun on my person, but usually I still had it in my front pocket while I was carrying my primary IWB as well.
  12. +1 Great gesture David. The generosity on this board over the last few months continues to amaze me.
  13. Welcome from over the mountain in Franklin County.
  14. Welcome back to TN and welcome to TGO.
  15. My 20 degree The North Face Cat's Meow weighs in at 2lbs 12oz. Synthetic so a bit heavier than down, but will keep you warm even if wet. I have used it going on 8 years now and is still holding up well...fluffs up pretty well after a washing. For winter months, I use it with a full length self-inflating ground pad. If you are not using it for backpacking, you can get one with a more inexpensive synthetic fill that weighs a bit more for much cheaper. So I guess it comes down to how you will be using it.
  16. Thanks to David and Joe and everyone else for putting this together. I was happy to help out for the two days of the show, but I know that a lot of time and effort went into this thing well before the show dates. I had a great time hanging out with my TGO friends both old and new. Hope that you guys will invite me back again in March.
  17. btw nice to meet ya at the Expo. Thanks for taking the pictures.
