Boxer Wants to Control Carry Permits
sgjay replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Control is their main objective. They want to tell us what to drive, eat, drink, what to watch on TV and what to listen to on the radio. They tell us what is permissible morally, religiously and politically. They can't help themselves. It's at the core of who they are. If I choose to eat junk food, drink large sugary sodas, smoke tobbaco (pot seems to be ok to them), drive an SUV and listen to talk radio then it's MY business! And I alone will suffer any consequences. Sorry for the rant. -
Great stuff. Ben Swan needs to be working for Fox News at the national level.

"Did you contact your Reps to day" Roll call
sgjay replied to RED333's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Today I received this reply to my email I sent in December from Senator Corker. Dear Mr. J, Thank you for taking the time to contact my office regarding the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary and the issue of gun control. Your input is important to me, and I appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts. Like any parent, I was heartbroken to hear about this tragedy, and like other Tennesseans, I have the victims and families in my thoughts and prayers. Given such an unspeakable act of violence perpetrated on children, it's appropriate to talk about what we're doing to keep our communities safe, recognizing the issues involved are complex, especially when it comes to identifying and acting upon the warning signs that always seem to precede these incidents. While I have always believed that it is critical to ensure that firearms are kept out of the hands of those who have lost their constitutional right to firearm possession, the right to own firearms for shooting, hunting, and self-protection is important to me as a Tennessean and as an American. Should legislation dealing with our Second Amendment rights come before the Senate, I will certainly take your concerns into consideration. I also wanted to share the steps I have taken to protect our Second Amendment rights in the attached "Policy Points" document. Thank you again for your letter. I hope you will continue to share your thoughts with me. Sincerely, Bob Corker United States Senator It had an attachment titled: Bob Corker’s Policy Points Compiled by the Legislative Team of U.S. Senator Bob Corker Protecting Your Right to Bear Arms -
Try Dark Grid and the sequel Dark Road by David C. Waldron. The setting is Nashville and Natchez Trace State Park.

Closing Gunshow Loopholes/Private Sales [Poll Within]
sgjay replied to xRUSTYx's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Absolutely right! The few felons that I know (no I don't hang out with criminals!) are not the violent, armed robbery type guys. Even if a felon bought a gun this way, the fact that he is buying from a non criminal, who would obey such a law, says he won't likely use it in a crime. -
Yeah, more laws are the answer to all of life's problems!

The current admin. would have you believe that the entire constitution is obsolete. Weneed to get back to the way the founders wanted it.

Yes. Without registration the background check would be on the honor system.

Yes. He is not a US citizen. According to his Twitter site he is a US resident and a British citizen. -
Since Ted sits on the board he should be invited to the meeting. He makes a clearer point than Lapierre.

"Did you contact your Reps to day" Roll call

Got this response yesterday from Alexander, nothing from the others yet. Dear Scott, Thank you for sharing your feelings regarding the tragic shootings in Newtown, Connecticut. I was horrified by this attack that left twenty-eight dead. My thoughts and prayers are for the victims and those who now live with their loss. As we learn more about the tragedy in Newtown, I think we must look closely at the behavior of isolated young men who develop an obsession with violence. We should ask the leaders of the entertainment industry whether they would want their children--or those who might harm their children--to watch the increasingly violent video games and movies that they pour into our culture. This is not the only cause of violence in our society but it is one important cause. Connecticut has strong gun laws. The problem is not with the gun but with the person pulling the trigger. This is a terrible event for our nation and we must find appropriate ways to respond. I’m grateful you’ve shared your reactions with me and will keep them in mind as we move forward. Sincerely, Lamar -
If you don't mind me asking, where did you get it? I've been looking around since I flipped across Enemy at the Gates last Saturday.

Very nice! I'm glad you shoot it. Stock up on .22 ammo if you can still find it!

Hi & welcome. I can never find my Kroger card when I need it!

Don't fret Dan, its probably due to them being swamped with requests as of late because of the election and all. Welcome to Tennessee. You'll like it here. -Scott (formerly of Pontiac MI)

By federal law they should be busting people BUT, Obama said that he would not go after marijuana users in Washington and Colorado. (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/12/14/obama-will-not-go-after-states-where-pot-is-legal/) Would it not be hypocritical to send in the ATF to bust gun ban violators in a state that has made owning "assault weapons" leagle and then not send in the DEA to bust pot smokers in states where it is leagle under state law? We would either get to keep our guns or the hippies would lose their weed. But only if life was fair!

I too wrote long emails to Senators Corker & Alexander as well as Rep. Blackburn. I believe that Blackburn will fight the good fight but our senators are probly a lost cause, unless they truely take their job as representing the will of the people seriously. Having written Corker before about the "online ammunition sales ban", the reply his office sent me was less than friendly to our cause. Also, just thinking, could Tennessee pass laws allowing the ownership and use of banned weapons the way that other states have passed laws allowing the possession of marijuana? Same principal right?!
