Well damn sorry that our state is so damn sorry about the conversion. Sounds like you'll break even if you use the range a couple of times in the next month. Best going price (outdoors) up here is $50.

I have to admit I'm a bit irritated that some folks are apparently trying to make this a continuing OR/Knoxville area shoot. That's a long way from me just to shoot. I shoot a lot.... I'm really more interested in the social interaction. My feeling is that it would be better to go to a forest service range than change the pattern from alternating sites. Maybe it would be better to just have two monthly shoots in our area - one in the Knoxville area and one in the Kingsport area? That's what I originally thought we would do. Folks who wanted to come to both events could do so. Frankly, I always though the meal before the shoot was as important to me as the shoot itself. I'd have made more of an effort to get to the shoots if there was a friendly meal beforehand, but that's just me. What do you folks think?

Thanks for that info David. Does that mean they get as much spam from NRA as the rest of us???? Never mind...stupid question.

Two points. 1) I carried a knife to school regularly from about second grade on. I never knifed anybody. 2) I have a feeling this girl was trying to make a stupid point, probably because daddy is a jerk. No tolerance laws are s-t-o-o-p-i-d, but I hate bratty kids as much - or more - than idiotic no tolerance policies. We need to run for the school board. In Tennessee, it's pretty much county or city boards who set the policy. If you won't get involved, don't whine about the idiocy.

Oh no!!! Ebonics strikes!!!!!

I like that. I'm not even on the library board these days. But I do drop in and talk to the Director when I get by there. I may have to re-up. Sounds like they may have some new "winners". Another probably-less-than-interesting fact about our Sullivan County system. --- we don't have "fines". You see...fines, by legal definition, have to go into the county treasury. We have "donations" that are the same amount as the fines but that go to the local Friends of the Library group. It's up to the board. (Remember I suggested you might want to get involved?) Kingsport has occasionally taken people to court over fines, but their library is technically controlled by their Board of Mayor and Alderman. But Sullivan County doesn't do that. That kind of anal-retentiveness is reserved for the cities. But we might revoke your library privileges. Be fearful ye citizens!!!!!

Very Pretty!

I really like the idea of alternating sites, but it's up to you guys. Anywhere up in this region is a crap shoot through even April. I remember one 14" snow on April 10th some years ago. I'll try to get to a Kingsport area shoot if we do one in January. I have no idea if Phantom6 even wants to do one then. Mark and Phantom are our hosts. We need to thank them for going through the hassle of hosting us. Nothing says they have to do so at some appointed time. My feeling is that for a couple of potentially really bad months we might plan a luncheon meet somewhere around Morristown with a shoot somewhere if we can find an appropriate location. But you know how many shoots I've made, so I'll go along with the crowd on this.

Yeah, I have a few sites like this too. But video sites keep changing their format and if you can find the file in the cache you can always save it. But...whatever works.
-
There are a bunch of ways to do that. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/mozilla_cache_viewer.html is a freebie cash viewer and saver for Firefox. Just shut down the browser, find a BIG file. Save it somewhere (F4). And rename with a ".flv" extension. He has one for IE too. BTW, the Nirsoft guy has a bunch of free applications worth having.

I'd say that depends on Mark@Sea and his wife.

Glad you explained that. I only watched one Seinfeld. I thought it was funny but not funny enough to watch a second show.

Trying to carry anywhere that doesn't have a metal detector shouldn't be a felony.

What if you walk up and pull an empty holster?

I started to fire up one of my exterior ballistics programs and see how far a .223 would travel if fired at 45 degrees of elevation, but I don't think any of them take into consideration the curvature of the earth.

Not really. Glock, Galco and SigArms all have reputations for strong-arming publishers to not print bad stuff about their products. Here's Dean Speir's story. From http://www.thegunzone.com/credo.html.

East Tn TGO Members DECEMBER 2007 Meet
Marswolf replied to Marswolf's topic in Events and Gatherings
Maybe the upheavals will have calmed down by next month and I can make it out to the shoot. It's on Robert E. Lee's birthday, so maybe I'll bring out the 3-band Enfield and shoot some 640 gr. rounds! A thread is already set up at http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3481 for the event. -
Early on here, some Yeager defender proudly posted the results of his background investigation of me and announced that I was a librarian. This was after I mentioned I was on the Sullivan County library board. While I do visit the library, my only pay from my library affiliation was about $2 a month for mileage to and from board meetings. Oddly enough, I just visited the library yesterday. Checked out The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy. I've never seen any of those Bourne movies. I have a feeling I'll be picking it apart and laughing my ass off, like I did with Sniper. Saw that one in the theater with a couple of military buddies. We picked it apart from wrong insignia to idiotic gun stuff. If you haven't been to the library lately, take some time to do so. Admittedly we have one of the best library systems in the state (much to the chagrin of larger areas) but all the regional systems have a lot to offer. It ain't just books anymore. Videos and audio CDs, and a lot of stuff is available online for free if you have a library card. Stuff like Chilton manuals, Heritage Quest genealogical info, eBook & Audiobook downloads, live homework help for the kids, and MyLibraryDV that provides DVD-quality videos of movies and TV stuff. Get involved! If you are a leader on the library board you get to do cool stuff like prevent no-gun signs from going up on the door!

If you could cook with a Glock, it would fall apart when you did home cooking using non-factory prepared ingredients. "I'm the only one in this kitchen professional enough to use this frying pan." I think Julie needs a carry permit, cookware (non-Stainless), and Wüsthof-Trident cutlery. (I like the Grand Prix handles.). Note that one of Wüsthof's slogans is, "Quality without compromise !", which sounds strangely like one very high quality German gun manufacturer's slogans.

I mostly teach etiquette.

Awwwwwww..... The three I have left are Ranger, Beauregard and Duffy. All well named. I think dogs just find their own name after a while.

You don't have to have quick wits. My wits are certainly slowing. You do have to plan things out about what you will do if X happens and mostly just not panic. This is probably just a matter of slow-wittedness in situations where other sensible people would be running for the border. Note that my X is not the same as some idiot's X that they have to get off of because they are indeed idiots and did not plan contingencies that would let them stay there and win. The only thing that panics me are wasps and yellow jackets.

And we aren't being paid to not say bad things about ugly, black plastic, poorly designed, and dangerous handguns.
