Any idea who said that? I hope it wasn't this guy: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=115&f=1839&t=1544657&p=3&sto=pagestart#s=115&f=1839&t=1544657&p=3 Just kidding, I found it on The United States Corps of Chaplains page.

Someone want to spot me gas money? I'd be a lot more likely to come if we were doing Big Ed's Pizza before the shoot.... -
Well, some of these are REALLY naughty.... I think the rule is that if you might see it on TV, it's OK. You definitely wouldn't see some of these on TV unless it was motel pay-per-view.

I did a reply to this before, but must have forgotten to hit "submit". Oh well. I think OC is appropriate in outdoor settings, like hunting or hiking. It provides rapid response to attacks by trailside ax murderers, cougars, bears and Woodsie Owl (who I would love to dispatch to Critter Hell). It's also OK when you are in an urban setting but look like you should be packing that way. In my case, it's normally in a military T-shirt and H&K LE division cap or official letter cap (like FBI, or in my case NSC). I've had people thank me for helping secure the country. Nice feeling.... I personally understand and respect those of you who actually think you are a deterrent to crime by open carrying or are somehow helping the cause, but I'm afraid I have my wife's view on this that you just look like cowboys. The term that comes to mind is "goofy". The problem is that while I see OC as goofy, much of the public sees you as nutso-dangerous. In the long term, I think you will hurt our cause. Enough said.

Well, you have to get a certain score to pass the class. In that sense you are qualifying. But I think your point is well taken.

Here's what I found: Pre-2006 versions of the XD were protected with a metal treatment called Bruniral. Some who own pistols with the Bruniral treatment have reported significant rust problems - especially those who carry the XD against their skin. Fortunately, current versions of the XD are being manufactured the Melonite brand of Carbonitriding, which is the same process as the Tenifer coating used on Glocks.

I almost bought an Osborne "luggable" once. It had a tiny crt screen and ran CP/M. The first serious software I ever bought was VisiCalc. I ran it on my customized Atari 800 long before IBM came out with the PC. Lots of information about VisiCalc at http://www.bricklin.com/visicalc.htm.

Damn Tim, you have redeemed yourself. Lewis hit that one on the head.

Oh hell, you wheel gun newb's don know nothin"! "4 screw, can be discerned by 2 exposed screws on lower right sideplate (one is concealed by the right grip, and one in front of the trigger guard). Mfg. began 1957 after approx. ser. no. S175,000 and was disc. 1961." Personnally, I really like the 44 mag format handguns.

First, my condolences on living anywhere near Memphis. Among my degrees is one in Psychology. Again my condolences. Perhaps you should become mentally healthy, sell the Glocks () and move from Memphis and change professions? Seriously, glad you found us. Except for a few of us, we are a pretty smart group of folks who disagree on a lot of stuff but are really pretty sharp (except for the folks who disagree with me). I bought a Motobecane Grand Record road bike , back in 1984 when that meant something. http://www.motobecane.com/MBUSAroad.html

I think a good anti-corrosion finish is becoming a standard item in professional expectation. In all honesty, if SA makes an equivalent gun, I see no reason to buy a Glock instead of an XD. Why??? They are inherently more accurate and fully reliable. Of course, I can't in good faith recommend any Glock-like handgun for any purpose. The best - best - choice is a DA/SA with de-cockability and re-cockability. Unfortunately, they may cost more.

Ugh, another Mac guy.

I have a Beeman Feinwerkbau 124 with Beeman scope plus a Crossman 22 pump-up (no doubt with leaky valves) that my brother gave to me. Also have a S&W CO2 training pistol in .177 I bought to chase off dogs raiding the garbage can, since it has a half-power setting. I guess it worked, since once I bought the gun, the dogs never came around again. -
So, is there a question in this - apart from a possible model? Probably a 29. The question is whether it is a 4-screw (1957-61) or 3-screw. Value of a 98%, with case, 4-screw is $661. 3-screw is $411. Subtract $40 without case.

All I want for Christmas is my HCP

Yeah, but when you renew by mail, you can just send a check. I didn't have to do the Birth Certificate BS when I got my permit. But I can see why that's done. That way, if you don't have a birth certificate or other paperwork that shows you are legal for a carry permit, you can just carry illegally without any background check. -
I wish we could do naughty pictures.

My first PC computable was a Gateway 386-20. Gigantic 80 Meg (yes Meg) MFM hard drive. The instruction manual that told you what to connect where was on a 5-1/4 floppy disc. As soon as you got everything running, you could read the instructions to find out how to get it running.

I may be able to make it this time - may.... Anyone else have air rifles or pistols they would like to shoot? -
Some of the early M9/92FS weapons had a weak slide problem but that was fixed. While I wouldn't recommend a steady diet of it, I have been known to fire P+++ SMG rounds in my 92SB with no problem.
-
Actually, I never had the rusting problem either. I've never had on any of my firearms, even in the jungle, but not everyone cares for their weapons as well as I do. But the slide rusting problem was one of the few complaints about the XD - so they fixed it.

I always think it's funny how the people who hate the AR series rifles seldom have personal combat experience with it but always know of a serviceman who hates it. I've seen a lot of combat - and I like the AR, largely for the reasons Tower mentioned. One one occasion, I did carry an AK in a serious situation. But I made sure I only did it once. Oh, I do have one friend in Iraq who would gladly exchange his M4 for another rifle. He says that anything less than 50 caliber is worthless.
