Boston Police want warrantless searches for guns
Marswolf replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Best way I know to get rid of your weakness is to work to get strong. No one can do that for you. Well...steroids might help.... I can't feel sorry for parents who lack parenting skills. They needed to make the commitment to develop those skills before becoming parents. I certainly do have sympathy for grandparents or other people who have to take over parenting because the real parents won't or can't do their job. But I can't see anyone suggesting unwarranted searches here. I'm not using the legal sense of "unwarranted", but the common sense. They are wanting to do voluntary searches in the rooms of kids where there is sufficient suspicion that the kid is doing something illegal, but may not have enough evidence to issue a warrant. Would I allow them to come in voluntarily? No. But then again I'd be searching the kid's room myself. And he wouldn't be running with the wrong people. If I had to ship him to Devil's Island to prevent that, I would. And group hugs are not my style. -
I have a Colt AR. That's it.

The point is just as Phantom said. The problem is that the parents are not taking responsibility for their kids. There oughta be a law. I'm afraid I just don't have a lot of sympathy for the weak and stupid, especially if their weakness and stupidity affect me. Rabbi, I think all citizens would do well to attend a lecture on their civil liberties. If you can organize it, I'll give you a big attaboy! People need to know what their rights are, how others (LE for example) try to get you to give up your rights, and how to politely say "no" to such attempts. -
That's not good.

I was going to suggest the dog.

I can't agree. Nothing unethical about it. The cops are just trying to cut down on gang and other thug violence since the parents won't be good parents and sit down on their kids. If people are weak and won't say "no" to a request to search their property, that's not the fault of the police or me either. -
Very nice. Thanks c.a.s. I'll have to check out more of their music.

Man...sorry to hear that. So many great artists that the public doesn't know the name of, but have heard their playing in concerts or on recorded songs. My wife knows a lot of the older players from the days when she and a friend used to sit in on informal sessions in the Nashville area.

Basically, if you pass the NICs check and do the class and other stuff, you will get the permit. The class is very easy. Since you are new to handguns, you might want to take one of the better ones that gives you a couple of extra hours of gun orientation. Phantom6, here on the board, has an excellent class in Oak Ridge.

If you don't have a questionable history, the permit will show up in time. Go ahead and get the handgun and holster and practice with it. Then you'll be ready to go armed to Wally-World when it comes in.

You'll have to ask the gang from the first ET shoot or Julie. I recently went back from operations staff to advisory staff. And that picture is on my front porch about four years ago. Had the skull face surgery since then, And Im Neero, maybe it's a DA/SA WWII 1911.... Here's one from about 20 years ago. Just goofin' off with some buddies in training, but note the finger on the trigger.

No, this is not what they are saying at all. This is all perfectly legal. But if the parents are actually afraid of their kids, I doubt they would agree to a search. And you are right Boom. Once you voluntarily agree to a search of your property, whether home or car, any promises the police make about what happens if they find something mean nothing. Never allow a search if there even might be something you don't want LE to know about. Make them get a warrant. -
Some vets just prefer the homeless lifestyle. I know some who prefer a tent-camp or live in a "hooch" to living at the VA in the domiciliary. Mostly, you can't drink in the dom.

Or this one: 1943 Remington-Rand Mean looking dude handling it. Notice he has his finger on the trigger - where God intended it to be.

I don't recall that just being fratboys. But maybe things have changed. BTW, this is how a 1911 should look: Wilson Tactical Supergrade. Less than $3900. (No, this is not what I have.) I love the mag well.

That is generally my experience too. But I've never shot an MP. That LEM trigger seems to be a problem with a lot of people, including me. I suck on the DA USP trigger too. Glad the V3 worked for you.

Wow, Boom!!! Your wife told you to play rather than replace the water heater? I think I'd do what needs doing to make sure she keeps you. Really wish I could have been there - even if it wasn't in Acapulco and warm. Sounds like a whole lot of fun. I might have given Donna someone to beat in the shoot. I didn't do a conference call.... I did three conference calls. Uggg. And installed an electrical outlet in between calls two and three. And you guys thought you were having fun.... -
I didn't say a thing....

Welcome to the forums. We're having a get-together and shoot in Kingsport today, if you're anywhere close.

I see a surprising number of people referring to a beavertail as a bobtail. Personally, I don't think the bobtail makes the grip feel better, but maybe that's because I'm an old fart and is used to the military style grip.

That surprises me, Jackdog. I would have thought the extra width and weight on the Seecamp would have made it more comfortable.

Well, plans change around here by the minute. Trip was canceled, but we are still doing a conference call. If we get through in time, I may try to come out for a while. Boom, I've had the water heater thing happen to me about a year ago. We went out to supper and planned a nice quiet night of TV watching when we got home. Water heater had other ideas. Water everywhere! Since I had no hot water turnoff in the house, I had to shut off all the water until I fixed the heater the next day. I added the hot water turnoff valve when I replaced the heater. -
I'm with you. I've threatened to move to Acapulco for the winter for years.

As long as you shoot at me with a Glock. About the time y'all get warmed up enough to shoot (brrrrr), I'll be getting started on a meeting up in Virginia. -
You can do that with the Thunder Five too.
