I want to again recommend that you all download Federal's Interactive Ballistics Catalog. There is a lot of information in this application. It has a permanent place on my desktop for quick and dirty round comparisons. http://www.federalpremium.com/Download/SETUP.EXE

I think that is a very good comment. It's a short range gun and a lot of practice really isn't needed. You do need to practice enough to get in the general area you want to hit and more importantly to learn how to not limp-wrist the little gun. It will stovepipe with limp-wristing. So will larger guns.

It's a Don Hume 002: Hip Pocket Style. http://www.donhume.com/products/ProductsPage.cfm?ProductID=32 The beauty is that the gun fits in the holster that totally fits in the back pocket. I'm using it this weekend at a Christmas show I'm doing with my wife. I used it at Bristol's Rhythm & Roots Reunion too. No-brainer to just throw the little gun into your hip pocket.

East Tn TGO Members NOVEMBER 2007 Meet

Worse thing the ACTs did to me was get me into honors courses in college when I didn't need them. The honors' professors were there for research money and couldn't care less about teaching. -
I have to cast my vote with the cheapskates here. If you save enough money on the foo-foo snobby name bags, you can buy more H&Ks. Until I stumbled into my cheapy Allen bag (that seems to work just fine BTW) I just used several soft mechanics tool bags. Still do use them, as noted above.

Pre-ACT tests? Good grief. They did well to get us to take the ACTs at all when I was growing up. I think youth of today are over tested and under educated. (That's not a personal comment, Cody) The test I always get a chuckle about are Virginia's Standards of Learning exams. Whenever I hear a news story about students taking the SOLs, I always think of something else for that acronym. -
Yeah, I find that flat sided handguns work better for IWB use. I've carried a bunch of guns and they work, but flatter seems better. And I do also want something without a trigger that is too sensitive.

Rabbi, you have got to do something about your underwear. You have your panties in a wad again.

I don't find that I put many rounds through the P3AT. It's just not intended as a plinker or target gun. For it's intended purpose as a self-protection weapon and for the normal 5-12 foot range of use for such incidents, you don't need much practice. I could see shooting the PF-9 more often but I look at it also as an IWB carry gun. The caliber goes up, but the shooting range doesn't for self-protection use. For only about $500 more you could get the P30 I mentioned above and not have to worry about service life. Canynracer, if I was going to carry an M&P it would be in a sidearm holster. I don't like Glock/M&P/XD type pistols for IWB use for a number of reasons. [Gotta find a bunker emoticon ] So I'd go in a 40 S&W caliber for it if I was carrying it for urban protection. I like 9mm for IWB or rural protection or general shooting.

Should Christians Keep and Bear Arms

He's in Southeast Tennessee - not Northeast Tennessee.... Just kidding  -
I got to play with a H&K P30 today. It has most of the advantages of the USP in a variant 3, which is how I have the USP 40 set up. That's a de-cocker but no safety. I really like the de-cocker beside the hammer on the rear of the handgun. It has both exchangeable backstrap inserts and also grip shells. The DA trigger is much better than the USP - quite good in fact and SA is very nice indeed. It would obviously make a good carry weapon. Only disadvantages are that it is 9mm and of course the price. Like most (all?) H&K products, the more you learn about it, the more you understand that price.

Should Christians Keep and Bear Arms

I frequently tell people that I believe God gave us brains so we could use them. -
From what I hear, it wasn't bad in most places. I hear they had a problem around Chattanooga and the Sullivan County (Tri-Cities) Sheriff wasn't thrilled to issue them. That is part of the reason he is no longer sheriff.

Good god, that's even uglier than a Gl...well never mind I've never even held a Sigma. The talk I've heard about them has not been good, but I don't know if the people mentioning it know what they are talking about.
-
I think you are right Dave. Liability is a lot of the problem and the legislature could fix that in the same vote that would permit us to carry everywhere.
-
I never had that problem with my XD-9 sub. I've never heard of that happening before this.

Excellent idea, Phantom!!! How about this?

I do that all the time when I'm not "working". Did it twice in about two hours in two states during Bristol's Rhythm & Roots Reunion. But you will hopefully remember you have it if you see metal detectors....

I carry two H&Ks (not at the same time) and get to play with about all the H&Ks I want to play with using other folk's ammo. Not a bad way to live.

Nope, James O. "Jimmy" Naifeh is Speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives. I wish he would get an easier name to spell. Or better yet, that he'd retire so we wouldn't have to spell it.

Since you apparently don't have inside connections, I'd ask my congressman to "request" that the FBI fill out the form.

Yeah, continued shooting of hot ammo in guns not intended for continuous hot ammo use is really not a good idea. The 357 SIG guns are engineered for the stresses. Molonlabetn, I thought that was an excellent description of the recoil of the 357 SIG. In a related manner, I almost bought a 357 SIG handgun today. Almost.... I spent the early part of the day at an Army ammunition plant at Kingsport. After that, I had to run to Bristol for some business and dropped into a gun shop I had only been in once before. I went over to the pistol case and spotted a label that said something about 357 SIG. A slightly closer look showed it to be a H&K USPc in that caliber. Used gun and the price looked reasonable. I spent quite a bit of time fondling the weapon and it really does feel good. I think most of the people there who own the place or came in to hang out are LE related folks. Mostly a hunting shop, but also very knowledgeable about handguns. We all pretty much agreed on XDs, SIGs and other...handguns. They had some neato rifles too. In the end, I decided to pass for now. If it had been a full size USP in that caliber (that H&K doesn't make) I certainly would have bought it. Damn that gun felt good in my hand. Very natural and with a quality feel. I need to do some checking. If I can change out the hammer on the compact USP for the one on the full size, I'll probably go that way. The ability to easily de-cock and re-cock any of my duty handguns is very important to me. It is central to the carry style that I've developed over time.

I had a gen 1 P3AT and now have a gen 2. The Gen 1 needed a bit more polishing of the feed ramp and/or break in than the current model. I've had no feed problems with the current one or after about 100 rounds and a fluff & buff on the gen 1. In short, if there was a feed problem, they fixed it. As to practice with these...of course you should practice, but these are not target pistols. They are designed for close range self-protection. at 5 to 12 feet, you don't need practice so much as presence of mind to make the shot. But you need to get what you are comfortable with, otherwise you won't carry it. I went through a North American .22 lr revolver, Beretta Tomcat (.32 Auto) and P-32 before settling on the P3AT. Any of them would work fine.

Well we do have squirrels who use the bird bath too. I don't think they take baths, but they do drink from it. Bird size ranges from titmouse (great name for a bird) to chicken. I don't know why the hen took up with us. BTW, today I spent a fair amount of time at the place where they make the explosive that is used in C-4 (that is used in claymores). I tried to get samples, but they said no.
