  1. I was coming through Knoxville about 5:45 this morning on my way back from New York and there was what looked like a large 4 story building consumed wire fire. They were putting water to it from all sides but looked to have their work cut out for them. Hope it was empty.
  2. Man, he sounds just like a friend of my wife's. Was supposed to be a bridesmaid and all the others had already been measured for their dresses. She wouldn't answer the phone for a week and a half then said she just didn't have the money for the dress so we paid for it. She went and had the dress custom made for her (not cheap) and 4 days before the wedding she called saying her mom was sick and that she was stuck in Kentucky. Ended up putting a cousin that was about the same size in her place. Found out 2 days later that she never left Nashville. I kinda wanted that girl to lose something on a camping trip ;) How long are y'all camping for? Sorry if you've already mentioned it and I missed it. Haven't opened my computer in over a week and it's easy to miss things on the phone. What do you guys usually get into while camping?
  3. Gotta live a flake.. especially when they wait until the last minute and you know that they never planned to go in the first place. I'm at my sisters place in NYC and she is set to wed an Irishman in April. Yesterday his "best mate" text letting him know that he wouldn't be making the trip but it gets better.. His daughter was supposed to be the flower girl so I'm guessing the 4yr old won't be making the flight on her own. See what happens when you get me going on flakey folks :) . Anyways, I hope y'all's camping trip goes great and everyone leaves with all the body parts that they arrived with!
  4. I love the Apalachicola area. It's not so packed ful of idiots as most other good fishing areas. I love going after Redfish and speckled trout. My dad's got a place on around in Suwannee and I enjoy it down there. Anywhere around there should be eaten up with hogs too. Wish I was to a point in life that I could head down that way.
  5. I had forgotten about the "free sterile needle" program. What you wanna bet the woman spear heading this deal does NOT vote conservative. http://www.ijreview.com/2014/01/110945-okay-now-san-francisco-exploring-handing-free-crack-pipes/
  6. Seems to me that they are thicker towards the Appalachicola side but that's because there aren't all that many near my grandparents area. Plus it's be hard to beat the fishing in Apalachicola bay :)
  7. Brother I'm about 4hrs outside of what I'm sure will be hell on earth (New York City). Was gonna run straight through but was getting tired and at least every other overpass was ice so I wheeled in to the Holiday Inn Express and an gonna call it a night. I'm about 110% I'll be wishing I were at OK Corral after about 5 minutes of being in NYC but my sister needed help moving and a load of stuff hauled up from home so I figured I'd put my dislike of large crowds of idiots aside to help take care of family.
  8. I asked myself the same thing but don't waste your time trying to guess because you won't even get close. It is sure to reduce your faith in humanity.
  9. Ruger it was good to meet ya this morning. Now there's 3 of us that know my secret to killin two hogs with one bullet without the bullet ever leavin the first hog ;)
  10. Well I sure hope it works out for you and mrs. DaveS to make the move. Seems like something you guys (or at least you ;) ) have been looking forward to! I'm always down for a trip to Florida especially in the panhandle down to central Florida area.
  11. That's a nice one there! It was definitely a rush getting out there and stalking them at night. I learned several things about them while I was there so next time around I should be able to get on them better. That particular area's hog population has exploded over the last few years and kinda made me want to own a couple hundred acres around there!
  12.  We were also able to recover one of the 120gr Nosler ballistic tip bullets from barely under the skin on the exit side of the pig. I kept it but keep forgetting to take a pic and post it. it almost fell out the other side, when the hair was held back you could actually see the copper color of the bullet through the outside under then skin. I read or watched somewhere one time that Ideally you want enough penetration that the bullet passes through everything important that gets in its way but have as much expansion as you can get slowing it down enough to just barely fall out the other side. Now I don't know that this is the best information ever but if it is accurate, it was the perfect load/bulllet/caliber combo! I'll try to remember to through it in my pocket in the morning to show you and post pictures of it.
  13.    I emailed them about buying only the projectiles because as you said, you'd want to see some serious independent testing. I'm as independent as it gets and I trust myself more than anyone else on this earth. It being a new product i'm not seeing them selling just the component.
  14.    I just Googled "bronies" but made 2 mental guesses as to what it was going to be before I searched it...... Not only was I way off on both guesses but I've come away feeling a little worse about the future of our planet.
  15.    Hopefully there will still be some of the Subs when I come through in the morning. Thanks for posting.
  16.  I picked up some a few months after Sandy Hook by using the notification feature on the Midway site and being very quick to place the order but I've got enough and haven't set notifications in some time so i'm not sure if they've been getting it since then or not.
  17.  I wonder if they would sell just the projectile... Might be fun to work up loads for.
  18. I may just go ahead an order some for my carry. My M&P is 17+1 so at almost $3 per round this could get pricey ;)
  19.        Anytime I experience exemplary service, whether it's because the company screwed up but then went to great lengths to make it right, sends repair and replacement parts for free (RCBS) or just did one heck of a job on the initial sale and got it right, I like to let others know and I like hearing those same stories from others so that we can do business with those that want it. Anyways, thanks for sharing that.
  20.   ^ We have a winner! ^
  21. Thanks man, yea we had a lot of fun. Just getting away for a week with no real plans other than hunting. We got a bunch of meat and that was our goal. I'm looking forward to the coyote time! I'm turning around and heading to NYC early Saturday morning and come back on Thursday but after that I should be back to normal schedule.
  22. Here's a shot of all the meat (minus the 25# that we gave Tim's dad) we got off of my 3 deer.
  23. Here's a shot of Tim and I with the hog that we both gave a bit of lead poisoning. This was my first hog and Tim's 2nd so it was an exciting night.
  24. I agree that is really nasty! What's kinda funny is I had made a head shot on one of them. I've got a pic but wasn't sure if I should post that one.
  25. Made it back to decent cell service so here comes a few pics. This guy was in major rut mode with a very swelled up neck and walking quite stiff legged.
