  1.      Where is this little slice of paradise that you call work?
  2.    I can't stand the liberal "high cap mag" or "high cap ammunition clip" BS. Next time he brings it up ask him what is a "high cap mag"? How many rounds must a mag hold for it to fall under the "high cap mag" blanket? My only store bought (did not build myself) AR came STANDARD with a 30rd mag. Now I would assume that if I replaced my standard capacity (30rd) mag with a SureFire 60 or 100 round mag or a 100rd Beta mag then one could say that I've added a "high cap mag" but that's not their point. The liberals are to ignorant to speak intelligibly on the subject on firearms and their accessories so they picked a phrase that they could repeat over and over again until ugh... even firearms enthusiast, retailers and manufacturers refer to them as high cap mags. Maybe we don't acknowledge the term "high cap mag"  as an evil thing like the liberals do but when we use the term and other more neutral folks hear us use it, they assume that we are talking about the same evil items that they hear getting blamed for everything from a kid falling  of a skateboard and scraping his knee to actual shootings that may and may not have had a "high capacity mag" in play.   Whitewolf001 i'm not talking about you repeating what your coworker said but it got me thinking about all the different people and companies that i hear use the term. One of the most notorious offenders that I have personally seen is www.CDNNinvestments.com .I am signed up to receive their internet specials email every other day and pretty much any mag they sell that is for a gun bigger than a single stack pocket pistol is boasted as being a "HIGH CAP MAG". Even the pistols and rifles that they sell with only the factory mag included will have 1 HIGH CAP MAG inc, in big bold print somewhere on the ad. It's almost like they are calling them that to appeal to the rebellious sector that thinks they are really living on the edge when they purchase a mag that is touted as being one of those evil high cap mags but the way I look at it is that they are only fueling the libs fire by not just stating the number of rounds the mag is capable of holding. I guess i'll get off my soapbox now.     Whitewolf keep working on the guy you mentioned, it sure sounds like you've got at least a fighting chance with this one!
  3. I bring it up whenever I can when talking to a known liberal. I don't usually blatantly bring it up but rather slip it into an unrelated conversation. For an example, say you're exchanging a typical greeting such as " me: how are you? them: find how have you been? how was your weekend? me: oh it was great, my wife and I had a great day at the gun range" etc... You can just watch the discomfort take them over because by now they know that I can usually make them feel less than good about themselves when they try to spew the baseless verbal diarrhea that is liberal illogic. I save those kind of exchanges for the truly hopeless such as Rugerla's coworker but on the flip side if I know someone is just repeating what they've heard on TV and I feel like there's a chance that a tactful conversation full of facts and points to disprove what they've heard could sway their beliefs, I'll go that route. I consider it a win/win deal. I either have fun watching them squirm as their talking points get ripped to shreds or I get some satisfaction knowing that I may have changed someone's view or at least planted a seed that hopefully someone else will fertilize.
  4. I just realized what you were meaning by "if I can set that up" I guess I thought you meant if I could set a trigger up. My water pipes froze solid Monday night or the wee hours of Tuesday morning and I have been fighting it every since so my mind is a bit fuzzy. Here it is 2:24am and I can't go to bed because I've got a propane Ready Heater running in the crawl space and surely want to be awake and keeping an eye on it in case something went wrong. Anywho, there should be zero problem setting it up to use the property and the shop and there's at least a decent chance that the lady of the house there will cook us whatever meal is going on while we're there :) if not I'll see if I can't talk my wife into takin care of that end of it. When I get the last few parts for my upper I'd like to bring it all up your way and use your receiver lapping tool if you wouldn't mind. If timing works out you could bring it down here with you and we could kill two birds with one stone. I'm gonna quit typing because I'm starting to get a bit dilearious and I'm sure I'm rambling.
  5. Sounds good.
  6. Sounds good. Just let me know when you get to that point and I'll shoot you some directions and an address to the place. We payed tires around on New Year's Day and had a grass track day on the dirt bikes and one turn went around the shooting bench and another by the berm/backstop so that's when I remembered that option. My house is only 5 miles from there so if something serious came up we could head there. As far as the trigger goes, I just need to squeeze on a few of the Geissele offerings to get my head wrapped around them. I'll study up on the josh speed match tonight.
  7. My biggest issue is getting to light a pull weight on each stage. I have run a couple 2 stage that were down in the ounces rather than pounds and I absolutely hated it. It went against anything in this brain of mine. Even in a single stage I don't really care for anything under 3#. It's a lot of money for me to spend on something that I might or might not learn to like. I wish I had someone close by that had a couple that I could try out. Hey btw, you know when you asked if I had someplace to load develope and shoot? I completely forgot about a buddies farm and he's got a back stop and 2 4x8 ply wood target stand. Also got a decent shooting bench and the shop with all the electricity you could want with benches are right there as well. I'd say there's at least 300yds of perfectly clear and flat range area and it could be as much as 400+yds. Just let me know if you still wanna do that and we can figure out when.
  8.    I suspect you can tell a man that's dropped one of these barrels on his toe by the limp :)    I'm kinda curious whether or not this is still an AA bolt... That link you sent me a while back showed that company was in the process of having bolts made and as hard to get as they are one might think that there are more than one mfg. looking into building them. At any rate, i'm proud that mine is now on the way so all I lack for the upper is a gas block and a handguard. I've got to put new tires on the wife's SUV this week and that will eat into money that was loosely earmarked for the handguard, gas block and whatever trigger kit I decide on.. I'm still not 100% what group I want to get for it. I have always liked single stage triggers and mostly disliked the two stage triggers that I've run BUUUT.... I've never run a Geissele trigger group so i'm pondering the thought of giving it a shot. They make damn 2,000,000 different models so it's taking me a while to figure on which I want. I'll have it figured out by the time I have the money to blow on it though.
  9.  My barrel HAS been shipped!
  10.    That's the kind of gambling luck I would have so I steer way wide of it
  11. Nice buck man! That one is nothing to turn your nose up to anywhere I've ever hunted.
  12.  Dang I know I said that I wanted a close game but I figured out that what I really wanted was a close game with FSU ahead and Auburn trying but not succeeding to claw back!      Congrats to Auburn for showing up strong and I was afraid FSU had forgotten how to play football some time in the last 30 days. I'm happy the Noles finally showed up and started playing like they have the rest of the season. I spent some time looking over all the bowl game scores Sunday night and they really don't show much of a strength of schedule difference. Yes they won 7 out of 10 bowl games but they weren't convincing wins like one would expect if there were such a GREAT difference in strength of schedule. I'm an FSU fan first and a Georgia fan second so i'm not hating the SEC but I come away from this season feeling like there's not such a great difference. Again, congrats to Auburn for showing up and doing their part in making it a tight game all the way to the end!
  13.    I'm sure they appreciate you not making them wait on you
  14.    Have you noticed how other SEC games have been doing in bowl games? SEC admittedly is a really tough conference but i'm thinking that gap is closing.. That is unless all SEC losses are a fluke. I'm hoping the game stays close through the very end!
  15. I'm usually what I would consider overly cautious about dead or rotting trees and large limbs. I guess it became habit from back when I cleared land because when you bump a dozer blade or excavator bucket up against an unhealthy tree quite often the top will come out of it. For some reason I just got into a rush and spotted a good vantage point and forgot to even glance around. It wasn't so bad windy when I was setting up so I just didn't think about.
  16. Well I saw one doe right after I put the blind out and sat down around 2. She crossed the end of the clearing where it came to a point so she was only in the open for about 5 seconds. I think they moved earlier out there because of some sign they left as well as 4 active scrapes with one of them being very fresh, I'd say no longer than 12hrs but if I had to bet I would say it was done in late morning - noon. I ended up hunting a spot I haven't been all year and found a line of scrapes that I followed a bit and counted 11 in no more than 100' and seemed to keep going. I guess I know where I should have been earlier in the season. I was also reminded today, the importance of checking for dead trees. I always check really close when using my climbing stand but today I was using a pop up blind and got careless and forgot to look around me. I set them blind up next to a cedar tree which happened to put a dead tree on the other side. I heard wood start cracking above me as the wind blew 3'-4' of the top of the trunk down and it hit the ground no more than 12" from my right side. It was about 10" in diameter so I'm pretty sure it would have been bad if it had been a few inches closer because that would have put it on my head. I'm just mentioning this in hopes that everyone will pay a bit closer attention to things like that because it wouldn't have taken much for it to have severely injured or killed me today. And that was the end to my TN deer season.
  17. Congrats! Nothing like squeezing one more in at the last minute. I'm hoping to catch the stirring before this front. If I put one down early enough I'll probably stay put and try to get another. I may be asking for trouble but I think I'm headed back into that devilish area that I took the last one in.
  18.    I have had some bullets that slid into the case enough smoother that they didn't reach the same "hard stop"ping point. Once I found the threaded rod under the backside of the turret it allowed me to make sure that they all hit the same hard stop and that ended the inconsistencies.
  19.  Weak end of the gene pool for sure.
  20.  I too wish we had one more week since the weather is getting so that one can anticipate what they'll be doing by watching it. I'm not out of the game yet though since I still have tomorrow and then i'll make a trip or two down to FL and see if I can do any good down there.
  21.    The slop i'm talking about is the turret flexing upward under the pressure of the case being pushed up into it. It's actually more flex than it is slop but it does seem to cause some inconsistencies because a a case being raised into the die with a bullet sitting perfectly on top of it will tend to flex the head less than a case with a bullet that is somewhat misaligned. This ends up turning out ammo with somewhat different OAL since the ones where the turret didn't flex much end up being seated a bit deeper than the ones that the turret did flex more on. I apologize if I have misunderstood what you are saying.
  22.      That's a really good deal for factory ammo when compared to anything i've seen in a long time. Cheapest thing I can remember seeing at Outpost was still north of 50 cents even when buying bulk (unless there is something new that I haven't seen yet).
  23. Yep it's supposed to get awful cold. I'd stand out in it to help you clean the deer but I sure can't offer an indoor place to do it. JWC it sounds like you have the perfect setup!
