Looking for a military surplus store, suggestions?
Luke E. replied to Luke E.'s topic in General Chat
thanks for the food suggestion, it's looking like we may should leave a bit earlier than planned so that he can get his fill. I'd be glad to pick whatever you need up for you, i'll pm you with regards to that. -
I've still not had the opportunity to take one but another member here has taken me a few times but things got busy leading up to Christmas so i'm hoping to get back at it after deer season.

I haven't gotten in on the post Christmas side of this thread but I got two things Christmas morning that were notable to me. First thing is, enough gift certificates for The Outpost Armory to outfit my Dillon press almost as much as I wanted and I received a rather cliche gift that usually people smile on the outside but smirk within when they receive but not this time. The gift was a tie.. My wife doesn't share my extreme enthusiasm for U.S. politics but she understnds the importance of the Constitution and also how much it means to me so this was special gift for me.

Well i've never gone out purposely hunting crow but i'd say it would be just fine for coyotes.

I just found the pictures inside of Freidman's and noticed mostly brightly colored stuff that sure goes along with your "chinese junk'. I wondered if there wouldn't be some places in Clarksville but i'm just not familiar with the town. Sounds like that's where i'll head to. Does Fort Campbell Blvd. cover a long stretch or will I be able to find the shops if I follow the GPS there and just cruise down the stretch? -
Well if I were buying a rifle for hunting, especially around here, I definitely wouldn't be scared of the American. Another member and I have actually talked about picking a couple up to tinker with and see who can squeeze the most out of them just for fun. You don't need a rifle that shoots 1/2 moa to hunt with at ranges common around here but I had a magazine article that tested one out and I remember it being somewhere right around moa with whatever factory ammo they had on hand and that's more than enough to take a deer IMO. For a hunting rifle I don't think you can beat them for the money.

I have heard nothing but good things as long as long as you're not expecting an F class rifle out of it. I've don't own one but have talked to multiple folks who do and all have felt they got far more than they payed for. You planning to use it for a hunting rifle?

I took a look at their website but there wasn't much to it. I assume that there is more to the actual brick and mortar but have you ever been there? -

Thanks for the suggestions guys! -
I'm inclined to agree with you about this being a tuff game and honestly I would be disappointed if it weren't. I will say that those guys that play things out on paper are correct far more than they are incorrect. They are in the business of having a VERY good idea as to who is the best team and how much better they are and I think sometimes that the games they are off on are in fact games that are won or lost at the hands of those big plays that cannot be counted on. I am in no way an "Auburn Hater" and have been known to pull for them on certain occasions (such as when they play Alabama) so that is one reason I don't want to see a blow out the next is that I would like to see Auburn play a good game to see how FSU handles it and if they win there will be no reason for excuses. Bottom line is I am looking forward to a great game of football.

First off I am NOT starting this thread as a part 2 of the "Auburn beat Alabama" thread and would really prefer that everyone be respectful of each other. In the spirit of full disclosure I am a lifelong FSU fan but not so much so as to belittle someone else if their team is beaten by FSU. I ran across this article discussing "Vegas'" opinion on the game, the two teams playing in it and how they come up with their numbers. I would have found this very interesting regardless of the teams playing. It may start off sounding like it is one sided but they eventually get around to talking about the other team as well. I'm not 100% sure that I agree with some of it but they are in the business of making money off of their opinions and do quite well at it. Anyhow, it's not the shortest article but worth the read if you're interested in the game. http://msn.foxsports.com/college-football/story/why-vegas-doesn-t-believe-auburn-is-nearly-as-good-as-fsu-121213

You can definitely tell when you were behind it. How are you liking the scope? Burris wasn't it -
My soon to be brother in law is in town and mentioned wanting to find a mil-surp store to go poke around at. We are planning to head up to Freidman's Army Navy tomorrow but I've been told that their prices are fairly high but we plan to go anyways. I'm in Murfreesboro and i'm wondering if anyone knows of any other mil-surp stores around? I'm fine driving up to 1-1 1/2 hrs if anyone knows of one that is a really good one. It's more about spending the time than it is buying surplus goods but it'd be nice if both could happen  Oh yea, I'm good going North, South, East or West aaaaand go...

Sorry i'm just now seeing this. I got behind on my emails on Christmas eve and by Christmas afternoon I had almost 300 in my inbox to weed through and was kind of overwhelmed so I kept putting it off until now. I've got everything set up and ready to go tomorrow and it looks like i'll have 6 shooting my stuff so it should be interesting, Outing like this give me a bases to justify new gun and reloading supply purchases on though... doesn't usually pass the boss in the end. It's a shame it won't work out for you guys to join in but keep me in mind next time you head out. -
Lookin' great!

Yea just let me know. I am pretty sure I will be there Friday because I've got family wanting to go that never get the chance unless I take them. My youngest sister lives in New York and he fiance in Toronto so shooting is out unless they are here my other sister and her husband don't have the money to blow on ammo for the few guns they do have and my brother and sister in law don't have any guns and i'd like to get them going with it so i'm going to be kissing a lot of ammo good bye i'd say. If Friday works for you guys just let me know so that we can meet up. I'll PM my cell # so that you could text or call if you get no response here on the day of. -

HAHA well it sounds like she is enjoying it to or at least enjoying that he is enjoying it. It's good to have someone to kinda help guide you through the process whether it's figuring out what to buy, buying selling shooting etc.. it can get expensive whether it's buying the wrong thing and having to buy twice or just wasting ammo only to find out that you were going about it the wrong way. I've noticed that new shooters can get frustrated easily about these things and that's a good way for them to lose interest. Let me know next time y'all head out to the OK Corral and i'll try to meet y'all out there. -

A great friend you are. I agree, taking part big or small in introducing decent folks to firearms is not only a great feeling but also a great service. -
Awesome looking rifle! I'd like to have one myself.

Check out the Syrac. That's what I am going to use on the rifle i'm building now. I read A LOT of reviews (on Midway and a few other popular sites) on different adjustable blocks that claim to be very low profile and there were many reviews stating that they were pissed because their handguard wouldn't fit and that they should have just spent the money on a Syrac to start with. I'm guessing I saw 20-30 reviews that were very similar to that. I can't say for sure that there is nothing smaller but it sure seemed to me that there was a lot pointing towards them being smaller than most of the usual suspects. There adjustment system is also top notch IMO
