  1. LOL! I left out one step. Sorry. I do clean my brass first. Next, Lube the brass, insert primer, resize case, load powder, load projectile, crimp projectile. Dump completed rounds in vibrating cleaner in corn cob media. Again, been doing it for years and never once, had to dive behind the couch from exploding rounds. YMMV.
  2. Gonna` try out the one out west of me today and see if they have any. Got nothing else to do this afternoon.
  3. Has anyone seen this deal in their local stores? Just curious if it is an online thing only.
  4. After re-sizing the brass with lube on it, I load up the powder and projectile. The completed round gets put in the tumbler in corn cob for around an hour to pull the lube off of the case. Been doing it for several years and never had a problem.
  5. Made in Venezuela. Clod Stomper is right. The boxes here that I have say 1992 on them. I can`t tell you what the bullet weight is though. Decent ammo. bucnball, What did they cost you?
  6. Sold off the .22 rifle and all of the ammo I had for what I had in them pre Sandy Hook madness. No interest to make money on the deal. Bought a pellet rifle and haven`t been to the range in I don`t know how long. Neighbors haven`t complained & I have had a bunch of fun over the summer in my backyard. Only things complaining are the varmints. They don`t like it.
  7. The dacron idea is new to me. I have heard of folks using rice in a case to fill up the case for even burn characteristics in powder loads where the case wasn`t completely filled. It is neat to see folks with new ideas that work. :)
  8. The market MAY be finally starting to be flooded with ammo of this caliber. It is good to see deals like these showing up.
  9. Optics are a wonderful thing! :) Very nice!
  10. Sometimes we all get kind of carried away on better equipment! LOL! :) I wish that my skills were as good as my gear. I also wish that my eyes were as sharp today as they were in my younger years. I hate getting old.
  11. Red, Is that a KB electronics DC motor controller heatsink that you used for your measurement "stand"?
  12. Mike,I have to say from your photos that you posted, you are not a novice to the shooting world! You have some nice measurement gear! Sinclair makes some good equipment. How do you like the press that you are using? Looks like a twin beam supported press. I`m not familiar with it. What brand? Lee press maybe?
  13. "My goal is to shoot a boolit I cast, powder coat, and load to over 2500 FPS and hold a 1 inch group." Red, At what distance are you wanting to attain that accuracy? Are you using irons or optics? In the real world, will you be shooting from a bench?
  14. "If you're not shooting from a stable rest, I doubt that reasonable runout is going to be a factor." I agree whole heartedly. Everyone wants a perfect round that will do one hole groups at some distance that they expect good results from, no matter what the distance may be. If one is not proficient at all in the other skills necessary to achieve that, the perfect round won`t matter. "Just holding to less than a half moa is something I probably can't even do anymore without a good rest. You can drive yourself crazy with all the ammo tweaks that some of the benchrest guys do." Words of wisdom & very well stated. You get it. Sounds like to me you have been around the block a few times and learned a LOT over the years. I tip my hat to you and smile! :) Now if one is a benchrest shooter, I`m not even going into all of the possibilities of how one can tweak a load & the equipment that they use. It gets WAY too involved. Boiled down and put in a nutshell, if one is shooting a pistol, practice on pistol skills and all that comes with it. If you like using a rifle, practice shooting one and learn to read the wind at the longer distances, breathing techniques, bullet velocities, judging distances.......I am going to stop with this. My head hurts.
  15. "Caster is right, accurate groups start right after the pin hits the primer and ends when the bullet hits the target. If the bullet is not straight going into the lands it will come out of the barrel not straight" My accuracy rounds were always less than 0.003" TIR. That was always my minimum standard. Less was ALWAYS best. Now the benchrest folks will beg to differ I am SURE. From my experience not using a bench, it also boils down to how well I can hold my firearm and breathing techniques. Close range, a non issue. Further out, you better have something that goes down the pipe that is right from the get go. Everything else went into the practice box. Runout does make a difference.
  16. Feel sorry for the folks that like the .22 rounds. Switched over to airgun calibers and haven`t looked back. No neckbeards in front of me at the counter and "ammo" is plentiful. It is what it is. I do hope though, that all of us can enjoy what we were so used to once and the madness will be over. Saw the other day in a post someone else started, about the unavailability of powder. Did some checking online, and they were right. I didn`t realize how bad it had gotten. This has gotten out of hand. Not trying to steer things off of the OP`s post. Just making a general comment. It was good to see a store operation, trying to give folks a chance to buy what many need. I smiled thinking that there was hope for all.
  17. To everyone that attended, all I can say is, Ya` Dawgs you! Been wanting to attend but never have made it. Heard it was a hoot. :)
  18. Do a Gunbot search on 7.62x39. Still PLENTY out there at reasonable prices. Have been watching this scenario play out over the last few days and it is ridiculous.
  19. About .06 per round is what I paid before SH. I no longer care about Walmart .22 availability. Took a road less traveled and have had fun with it. After being low balled by cheapskates looking for .22 fun, I hung on to my small supply. I am letting everything here in .22 go, for what I paid for it pre-SH. Most folks don`t realize how much that they have spent or spend, in travel, effort and gas, looking for the unicorn. In case some of you are thinking that I buy ammo and flip it, you are wrong. I have some and went another direction. Don`t care much at all for .22 now. I can`t shoot it in my backyard. I am happy for you folks that are now able to find it due to a policy change with Walmart. I think that it is a good solution to beating out the scalpers and helping those in need of wanting to plink on the weekends.
  20. Might have been 7 or 8 years ago, Georgia Arms had 9mm 125gr. cast RN bullets for $12/500. They were at a show at the time. About all I can contribute on good deals at the moment. I told a friend that it would be a good time to buy some. Glad we did.
  21. While Wideners is a good source of available items at a fairly cheap price, dlm has more than once, gotten my money because he was there. I haven`t ever seen Wideners show up at a show west of Johnson City. I could understand how "politics" might make it a problem for him. I hope that in this case, it isn`t because of that issue.
  22. After that many, I would be surprised if you didn`t stumble around all weekend wondering what planet that you are on! LOL! That`s a LOT of back blast to deal with!
