  1. Agreed with everything he said....until he came up with the bit about the endorphin spike when he sees Kim Kardashian.  YUCK!!!
  2. All the online sources listed in this thread are totally sold out of 9mm ball ammo.  SGAmmo got in 200 cases of Aguila 9mm and it was gone in under four hours.  They later got in another 50 cases and it was gone in about 15 minutes!!  Sportsman's Guide's list of 9mm is practically empty as well and their site shows projected dates to be back in stock.  Earliest dates were mid-Feb and ran all the way up into 2014.  Some sites have just quit taking orders due to the backlog of shipping.  If you shoot a 9 and want anything for practice, times are not good right now.
  3. The H&K MP5 fires from a closed bolt which is one reason they're as accurate as they are.  I've fired the MAC10, along with Thompsons, Reisings, Berettas, et al, and when you pull the trigger on one that fires from an open bolt you've got  that pause while waiting for the bolt to drive home and fire.  Not the most accurate way to shoot, but for "Spraying and praying", it works fine.
  4. I've got the CompTac OWB paddle style and love it.  That thing just does not move a hair on the belt and holds the pistol securely.  I'd buy another in a heartbeat!
  5. Rebuild or not, Garands are superb rifles and very accurate.  Just be cautions when loading.  "M1 Thumb" is not a pleasant thing.....trust me on this. :yuck:  To keep your thumb in one piece put the outside edge of your hand against the charging lever while pushing the clip into the rifle with your thumb.  Easy with practice.
  6. In 9mm, first choice would be Glock with the M&P9c a very close second.  In .45, my first choice would be a Nighthawk Custom Dick Heinie Signature Model, although they are pricey.
  7. When I was loading 9mm and .45acp for max loads I always used Unique.  WW231 for target loads, but it can leave unburned flakes in the action.
  8. I check the WalMart in Paris every week.  They haven't had any 9mm on the shelves for at least a month or two, save some off brand foreign made crap that they wanted $15/50, and they only had 6 boxes of that.  Luckily, I've got a case of Sellier & Belliot currently en route that I got at a pretty decent price.
  9. Maybe this will be of some help.   http://www.shootingtimes.com/2012/11/05/customize-shotgun/
  10. Haven't seen anybody mention this, so I will.  I've never seen a police shotgun that wasn't bored Imp. Cyl., that is to say almost no choke at all.  Buckshot loads in those guns will spread ONE INCH per yard of travel.  To that end, learn to use your sights.  Tighter chokes would be at least the same or even less in spread.
  11. Make sure that you always scrub underneath the ejector star.  Unburned powder flakes can get trapped under there, making the cylinder hard to rotate.  You'll get those flakes lodged there when you eject the empty casings.  Also, if you shoot lead bullets, clean the forcing cone.  There used to be a tool available that was a cleaning rod with a "T" handle.  This had an accessory that was a tapered rubber plug over which a small piece of round copper screen was placed.  The rod was inserted from the muzzle and the rubber plug screwed in.  It was then pulled back into the cone and rotated several times.  I used one religiously when I was shooting a lot of lead WC's in competition.  Don't know if they're still available or not.
  12. Would have been interesting to see a Glock in .357 SIG in that video.
  13. Give "Shooters" a call in Camden and see what they have in stock.  Best prices in this area.
  14.   Way back when, P.O. Ackley actually came up with a 50 BMG necked down to .22.  He named it the .22 Earingeshplittinloudenboomer (no joke).  If I remember, velocities were somewhere in the stratosphere (somewhere around 6000fps).  Bullets were hand turned because nothing available could stand up to the velocity readings without coming apart.
  15. Got 500 rounds of 9mm Blaster before this latest fiasco.  Cost 106 bucks w/shipping.  Should have ordered a case lot but didn't.  Checked every round by dropping it into the chamber of my Glock barrel.  Found one round that wouldn't drop in cleanly.  It had a quarter-inch split at the case mouth.  All other rounds were good to go.  Haven't had the chance to shoot any of them yet.  Like everyone else, their prices have gone up, and they're out of almost everything but 115gr FMJ reloads.  Mine shipped in 10 days....have no idea what their shipping times are now.  I ordered a case of Sellier & Bellot 9mm from Target Sports USA on 12/23 for 263.57 and free shipping.  They are currently working on orders from 12/19 thru 12/21.  It's a rat race out there....
  16. Just checked Bud's, GoG, and Grabagun yesterday just to see about pricing on Glocks.  No G19's were available on those three sites.  GoG's 19's were "allocated".....the other two were "out of stock".
  17. Bought a pair of Peltor electronic muffs from WallyWorld for about $60.  They take four AAA batteries.  Wore them to an IDPA match and had no trouble whatsoever hearing normal conversation, yet the gunshots were blotted the same as if I just had regular muffs.
  18. The first Glock I owned was an early production 17.  I deliberately fired almost 5000 rounds thru it of lead bullet reloads, without so much as a swab thru the barrel, or drop of oil/grease anywhere.  It never hiccuped but once at about round #3500 when a minute ring of lead built up at the chamber mouth which stopped the slide from going completely into battery by a gnat's eyelash.  I flicked it out with a knife and went another 1500 rounds or so before giving up.  Reliable???  You betcha.
  19. My old IPSC load consisted of Unique and a 200gr H&G SWC.  Never had any trouble with it and it wasn't any dirtier than most other powders.  Also used WW231 for a time.  Dirtiest powder I ever used was Bullseye.
  20. Apparently someone had more money than brains on this one... :yuck:
  21. From the performance photos I've seen of the original Black Talons, it appears that the "petals" on the slug did not fold under as much, but rather stayed extended out to the side. For this reason, I've heard them refered to as the "surgeon's nightmare".
  22. There are several ammo sales sites on the web that have ammo in stock, and at good prices. One or two have free shipping if you buy a case.
  23. There are several makes of ammo on the market that duplicate this performance in 9mm. Federal HST, CorBon DPX, to name a couple. Check out the 9mm ammo tests on YT from Tnoutdoors9. He pretty much covers the whole spectrum.
  24. May I suggest you get a Lyman Reloaders Manual? Normally, they had a section that had step by step instructions for reloading brass. Before switching to a progressive press, I had a turret model. I would perform one step at a time on all the brass before moving on to the next stage. I would suggest carbide dies for handguns so you can cut back on the case lube, and if you're loading for an autoloading pistol, add a taper crimp die to the mix.
  25. Through the thousands and thousands of rounds I reloaded, I always used either Federal or WW and never had a single problem with any of them. Don't know if they've changed through the years, but CCI primers were a bit harder than the others, although I had no problems with the ones that I tried.
