I put nearly 10K rounds of hard-cast through my Gen 1 model 17 without issue.  Bayou Bullets sells a coated bullet that they advertise as being good to go in poly-rifled barrels.  There's a new company that also may be of interest.   http://thebluebullets.com/

The 2 1/2" Model 19 is the one I'd go for, or the 66 if SS finish is what you want.  You can find them fairly often on gunbroker.com .  

Check out Freedom Munitions.  Currently $123.80 + shipping for reman ammo. (Shipping to TN runs around $20)  I've used quite a bit of their product in  9mm and never had a problem.  It's fairly clean and accurate.

If you check the website that allows you to check on WalMart ammo, the Antioch store has had ammo practically all along, every day.  I couldn't figure out how they do it.  Their pricing on the Fed 9mm is $3/box cheaper than it goes for at my local WM.  I thought all WM pricing was the same.

Interesting reading about these little boogers.  They never return to the same nest in the following year, and the idiot who wrote the article thought to add in "if caught in a nest, don't run because they will follow you as far as 50 yards or more".  I suggest that whoever wrote that one has never been in the middle of a yellow jacket nest in his entire life.  Anyway, as for getting rid of them, just wait until after dark...they should be in their nest by then.  Walk up to the entrance and let 'er rip with at least a half can of wasp killer.  Doesn't matter what brand, the cheapest will do, but I recommend the foaming kind.  

Way back when, famed gunsmith P.O.Ackley came up with the ".22 Earengeshplittenloudenboomer" (no lie, that's what he named it) which was a .50BMG necked down to .22 caliber.  Bullets were hand turned...can't recall what he used...because normal bullets couldn't take the velocities.  Velocity was, if I recall, somewhere in the 6000fps range from a test barrel, and no, it was never offered commercially.

  That's funny, cuz when I tried to buy some 9mm from them that popped up on GunBot, I got all the way through the ordering process only to find that when it came time to enter the state, TENNESSEE was nowhere to be found.  Retried several times and it still wasn't anywhere in the listing of states.  I finally called them and was told that they don't ship to Tennessee and several other states (I think Alabama and Georgia were two of them), because they had distributors in those states and they only sold through them.  I have no idea where these distributors might be.

In my mind, the finest 1911 'smith out there is Richard Heinie.  I had two of his custom .45's that fired thousands of rounds each without one single malfunction....ever.  That was with all types of bullets using all kinds of magazines, including $2 military surplus ones.  Accuracy was outstanding.  Sadly, he no longer takes orders for new guns, but if those Richard Heinie Signature guns sold by Nighthawk are only half as good as the ones I had, then the Nighthawk would be my choice.

The cylinder stop has to drop out of the way so it can rotate the next round into firing position.  There's nothing wrong.

Bullets are the easiest to find.  Powder/primers are out there, but you gotta look.  There's 7000 grains in a pound of powder.  Divide by the charge you're using to find the # of rounds you'll get from a pound.  Cheaper to buy the powder/primers from a shop.  Buy online and you'll get hit with a HAZMAT fee on top of the shipping cost.  As said before, it's not cheaper to reload cuz you'll just shoot twice as much. :pleased:

JMO, but there are a LOT of stupid rules in IDPA.  Our MD is afraid that he'll lose a lot of his RO's if that entire rule book is implemented.  I joined this year so I could get a classification.  I won't be renewing next year and I'll just shoot Unclassified for fun.

The Warren-Sevigny sights I installed on my G19 required a substantial bit of work with a dovetail file to get them to fit.  Well worth the time and effort though.

I have GunBot set on .36 per round for 9mm and it comes up for sale at that price or below regularly.

  That's the way it is at our club matches.  Everyone shoots, then the brass picking begins.  Every man/woman for themselves, of course :)  

I bought my 19 last November (Gen 4).  Started out with Fed Champion ammo and had a few hit the brim of my hat (not a deal killer).  I consider the Champion, UMC, and even the White box to be on the anemic side.  After about 350 rounds things smoothed out and I haven't had a problem since, even with the low-powered stuff.  I bought a case of Sellier & Belliot 115gr and there is a definite change.  Empties come zinging out far to the right.  (advertised at 1280fps)  I suggest at least giving some higher powered ammo a try first.

Midway had White Box 9mm, 100 rnd listed the other day at just about what I pay WM for one.  Jumped to their website and.........ONE BOX LIMIT!!  Cost to ship.....$18.95!!!  I may have been born yesterday, but it wasn't at night.......... :down:

Haven't owned either, but just from a "handled one in the LGS standpoint" I say keep the M&P.

This is a little late to be getting into this conversation, but as to the original question of "Why are you still buying ammo?", I'll tell you why.   I gave up shooting sports some 25 years ago....my reasoning for that is not important.  Last fall, I decided to begin again.  I bought a new Glock and accessories to begin competing in IDPA.  At the time, ammo was plentiful and reasonable.  I had no reason to stockpile anything.  I'm sorry I didn't see the host of school shootings by a handful of retards coming.  Did anyone?  If I were that good, I'd have picked the winning numbers in the last PowerBall and bought my own ammo factory.     Reload my own?  Nice try, but have you tried to find components lately?  Small pistol primers going for as high as $10/100!!  Bullets are out there but slow in coming.  Powder is also in short supply, and has anyone tried to find 9mm dies lately?  It's easier to find ammo than components.  Even presses are hard to come by.     Luckily, I have almost two cases of 9mm setting in my closet that I managed to snag just before the crap really hit the fan, and as I shoot it, I manage to find enough at WM to replace what I shoot in practice and at matches.  I don't get to shoot as much as I want, but I DO get to shoot.

I wasn't going to post here, being a relative newcomer to IDPA, although certainly not to handgun competition (shot IPSC for years). What I read in these rules is a bunch of total BS.  The way I see it is that if you can conceal your pistol of choice, then it's legal.  I personally don't care whether I'm competing against someone with an RMR or open sights.  My opinion has always been that it's not the arrow, it's the archer.  In SSP, I can add aftermarket sights, but I can't stipple my grip or add something as innocuous as a Grip Force Adaptor to my G19?  IMO this is total crap!  I'm not asking to slap on a scope or a laser, and neither of the above has anything to do with concealability.  I certainly don't have a problem shooting against someone with a 1911 in any caliber, so why all these different classes.  A Marksman with a custom 1911 is still a Marksman.  Rant over... :popcorn:

I agree with you on pricing.  I bought 500 rounds back in late November for $106 including shipping.  However, considering the prices from other suppliers, they're still not all that bad in today's market.  Just wanted to pass it along is all.
