  1. I am getting closer to completing my next build project. I have put together my new AR chambered in 6.5 Grendel. All I have left is to find a scope. In the mean time, I have started loading my Grendel rounds. Tonight I got the final reloading parts for my Dillon 550B. It took a little time to set everything up and to fine tune my powder charge. Built from Alexander Arms brass, 28.5 grains of Hodgdon BL-C(2) powder, CCI #450 primers, and Berger 130gr VLDs. Put it all together and I had some mean looking rounds. I threw in a 55gr .223 round for comparison.
  2. It's like we awoke one morning to a bizzaro world, where up is down, white is black, and you ultimately have no choices in your future.
  3. Upon further pondering...... Class III holders with HCP should be able to move their SBRs, suppressors, FA guns, AOW, and SBS across state lines without a permission slip. Why do I need a permission slip?
  4. Veterans would be afforded a free lifetime permit with the completion of the background check.
  5. I saw this tonight. Not that is surprised me. Health bill 'outlaws private insurance'
  6. I have been watching this legislation and wondered how far it would go. I thought I heard last week Harry Reid said he would kill any Senate bill like this. I guess he is part of the "under the table mischief" going on inside the FED. Even with all the support in the House, would bill get out of committe? Would nazi Pelosi allow the bill to come to a floor vote? I smell a rat or many rats. I say let's open the books. Let the people see where are trillions are going. These guys have no right to keep secrets from us.
  7. I have an barrel that is currently threaded at 3/4x28. I want to have it machined down to 5/8x24 to accommidate a suppressor adapter. Are there any shops in the Nashville or immediate area that can make this happen?
  8. Sure why not... Let's take your example of using a tank for instance: You can first put down a credit card to cover your extreme thinking. You will probably need an American Express here. The costs will span the tank maintenance, the fuel, the cost of every round you want to shoot, and a deposit on any potential damages you might cause. But wait, you have your security clearance right? No? Then you must pay for the background check. And before you can get in the tank, you need to go to tank school at Fort Knox KY. That might cost a few more bucks and take several weeks. You might need 2 AMEX's. This bill is not "a waste of time". Extreme thinking like this is out of step with the intent of the bill.
  9. According to the police cheif of Hendersonville, NOTHING has happened in his parks that justifies the need for citizens to carry. So don't worry, Barney Fife and his band of merry men will protect you. [/frustration complete]
  10. Thanks Fallguy. I wasn't familiar with all the details of this law.
  11. How do Wolf primers measure up with use in an AR style rifle? Are they considered to be "hard"? Any risk of slam fires, like Federal primer?
  12. Interesting. That was the interpretation of a Hendersonville lawyer. I wish I had got his name.
  13. I would love to take my son to one of these shoots. He would have a blast! Shooting paper targets, steel spinners, and clay pigeons are boring to him, but moving/reactive targets really get him excited. I cant imagine what he would do if he vaporized a prarie-dog.
  14. Sounds like a progressive press will be in your near future.
  15. I was ready to scream last night when I attended the Hendersonville Safety council meeting. They were discussing whether or not to recommend opting out. One member on the board stated he was a baseball or football (dont recall the sport) coach. Then he said , "I support the 2A, but I see how mad these parents get at games. I would hate to have them packing heat." I wanted to ask why he only partially supports the 2A. I also wanted to ask him what part of "Shall not be infringed" does he not understand? This was not the forum for open conversation and questions. This time will come later when the city council will vote to opt out of carry in parks. One thing that was brought up had me wondering. Some lawyer mentioned that we can drive through parks with our firearms if we (permit holders) are picking up/dropping off our kids for an event, similar to school zones. He then stated we can leave our firearms in our vehicles while within the park. Is the "leave in the car" portion of his statement correct? In any event, it was obvious they had made up their minds prior to the meeting.
  16. Congrats! The addiction will only grow from here.
  17. I attended the safety council meeting tonight in Hendersonville. I was very disappointed. In typical politician fashion, they voted unamimously to OPT OUT of the carry in parks law. Prior to the vote, I heard a [sarcasm] robust [/sarcasm] discussion on the resolution. Here are some of the highlights" 1- the gentleman running the meeting asked the Hendersonville Police chief if he was able to secure the statistics in crimes in our parks. His response- "no". He did offer statistics off the top of his head- "no, homicides, no forcible rape, kidknappings, no vehicle theft, but we have had some vehicle breakins, etc, etc." No real threat. He did offer that he once arrested a guy for shooting at geese. 2-The discussion moved to potential liability for the city. They talked briefly about a case pending with Walmart, where they knew of a threat, and failed to adequately provide safety to their customers. This case was referenced at $80mil. Some lawyer then spoke up and said the maximum liability to the city would fall between $355-500k. 3- It moved to talking about parks currently being posted, so nothing would really change for permit holders. "Parks have been safe since Hendersonville became a city back in 1969ish (not sure if that was the exact year he referenced)", stated by the police chief and backed up by some older gentleman. I believe he was a city lawyer. 4- Another councilman stated he was a baseball or football (dont recall the sport) coach. He said , "I support the 2A, but I see how mad these parents get at games. I would hate to have them packing heat." 5- The last theme that came up basically justified their desicions based on all the surrounding city's posting in their parks. "Murfreesburo, Clarksville, etc, so should we. There was other chatter in the room over this topic, but it was clear these people cared more about costs to the city, and continuing the staus quo. There was another council meeting related to carry in parks tonight, but it was concluded before the safety council finished. They voted unanimously to OPT OUT. This will now come up at the next council meeting with the recommendation to OPT OUT.
  18. What, you must be mistaken. An alcohol fueled, bloody shootout must have taken place. No SWAT team? No screaming resturaunt goers? The newspaper can't be wrong, I have a subscription.
  19. Not sure how Alexander will vote after seeing his vote on guns in federal parks. He's such weasel. Emails sent.
  20. Well I just got the word, I am departing overseas on MON (13th). Guess this project is on a temporary hold. DavidCBaker- I would love to talk to someone with a knowledgeable on solar. I have lingering questions about the size of systems, installations, system "toughness" (against weather conditions), and adding an off-grid battery backup.
  21. Yes- Hendersonville. The first challenge I ran into was finding a local installer. I found this site/company which is Nashville: Residential Solar Power Systems - Nashville Tennessee I got several PDF files explaning the process and details the rebates. I will probably get the survey done in the near future to fully understand all the costs involved. I am preparing to head overseas so I'm not sure when the system would get installed, if I decide to green light this project.
  22. I don't know. My next step is to get a survey of my house and determine what size system I would like to purchase.
  23. I'm not sure about tornados. When there are clouds in the sky, the panels will still produce power, just not at a level when exposed to direct sunlight.
