  1. Mike- I'm getting ready to go overseas for 4-6 months. I will be ordering my upper from Alexander Arms just before I depart. I hope to have it when I get home. It's looking more like I will go with the 24" barrel and use the cost savings to invest in my optics. The Berger bullets are very cool. I would hate to be on the receiving end of that beauty. More info to follow when I make my purchase...
  2. If I went with the 6.5 Creedmoor, I would not be able to use my standard AR lower. I would have to purchase an AR-10 lower. I want to have an interchangeable upper/lower combo. The Grendel appears to be more "commericialized" at this point, making it easy to purchase and get customer service via Alexander Arms or Sabre Defense. I'm set on purchasing a Grendel. I have purchased my brass and bullets for reloading. Here is a picture comparing .223 55gr vs 6.5mm 130gr (.264) bullets.
  3. Well, it took me awhile to get back to this thread. The funding is almost "approved" so I thought I would document my build. I purchased a Spikes Tactical lower and a Magpul PRS stock from Joe down at Hero-Gear. I installed a DPMS parts kits. I plan to swap out the trigger group later, but this kit will do for now. Last weekend I received the buffer tube, buffer and buffer spring. After about 30 minutes I had a complete lower. I plan to order a complete upper from AlexanderArms.com in the coming weeks. I'm still deciding between the overwatch upper (24") and the GSR Grendel Sniper Rifle upper (28"). For optics, I plan to install a Nightforce scope (50mm or 56mm). I have not decided on the magnification at this point. This will get a Harris bipod to give it legs. Once its all together, I'll pass it on to Joe for a custom paint job. More pictures to follow as parts come in.
  4. Man, that mini is looking rough! I see the mount is outside the crew window. Is that an Air Force Hawk? EDIT- Just saw your Avatar name. I'm assuming that a Army hawk in Korea.
  5. That rocks. It reminds me of the days when I used to hang out the side of a Blackhawk with my minigun doing 120 knots. Did you hit anything?
  6. Wonder how much traction would be lost with all the links and brass being tossed under the back wheel? It would be train wreck waiting to happen. Fill those tanks on the back with some gas and it might be YouTube-worthy. :stunned:
  7. Clearing jams would be a B#tch.
  8. I got me an '07 Tahoe LTZ with the optional urban assault (UA) package. It works well in East Nashville and Memphis, but the poor guy takes a beatin when I'm cruising on the highway.
  9. I just told him to do his best. I didnt care if he won or lost. In all honesty, he is a great shot, when he wants to be. Next time I hope to get him shooting a shotgun and pistol. He is still too scared to try them.
  10. I just had to share the events of today. I dragged my son out to Gallatin Gun Club. They had a family shoot. He didn't want to go because he was scared to compete with other kids, for fear that he would shoot poorly. Well, after the rounds were shot and the smoke cleared, he was the winner of the sub-junior class for rifle. He scored 90 out of 100. In addition, they held a raffle for five Red Ryder BB guns. He won again! My little guy was ALL SMILES on the ride home. Well, needless to say, I was very proud of him. All my firearms training (and yelling) with him finally paid off.
  11. I got a response from Senator Diane Black- "Dear Mike, Thank you very much for your email. I plan to support the override on the Governor's veto of this legislation. Senator Black"
  12. Watch out for the Chinese knockoffs. This site show some of the fakes: How to recognize a fake Aimpoint. - AR15.COM
  13. Just got back from the Hendersonville/Indian Lakes Walmart. Guy there said a truck load of 9mm had arrived (+150boxes). SHould be available after 11pm tonight or early tomorrow morning. Also, there was several boxes of WWB 50rnd .40S&W and 2-3 boxes of 100rnd.
  14. Let us know when you get the press. I can walk you through the .223 setup. I'm loading .223 and .40S&W.
  15. Very good press. I had a little trouble setting it up, but once I understood all the moving parts, it was a breeze! Highly recommend. Be sure to have plenty of reloading supplies. You will go through them quite fast. A couple things you might want in addition to the press: - extra primer tubes - primer flip tray - bullet holding tray What caliber(s) will you be loading?
  16. New poll at the bottom Nashville News, Tennessee News and Local Weather from WSMV 4 News
  17. 40k primers? What vendor has them instock or is allowing you to put that many on backorder?
  18. Crap, I was too slow on this one....
  19. Yep, they updated it. I too was not on the first list; now I'm on it.
  20. It was quite a long day for me...
