  1. I am voting you off the island. My apologies to the guy who started this thread. We seem to have highjacked it.
  2. OK, I'll bring the gauge, and the other required components. I plan to bring my son too so he can learn. He's need to stop focusing on his XBOX and learn a valuable skill. If he complains, we can take turns woopin his aZZ.
  3. Captain Obvious reporting for duty!
  4. That would make a great addition for my range guests to place in their target reticles. EDIT-- was the price reduced to $3.00??
  5. I sense a conspiracy. These are not the droids you seek.
  6. SUN night? I'm game. Should I bring any brass or primers? Shoot me a PM with your address.
  7. Gotta love that feeling when you pull that trigger and everything works as advertised. Congrats! Take your time and now the fun begins. It's a full-blow addiction for me. We just need this Obama madness to end so supplies can be replenished.
  8. There is no license for an individual. You pay for a NFA stamp. This allows you to possess an SBR or automatic firearm. I own an SRB. I keep a copy of my stamp with the SBR and the original in my safe. I don't worry about a visit from the boys in black. As I understand, the ATF cannot just walk up and demand you produce your firearm or search your home. They are not permitted entry into your home unless they have a warrant. I would defer this to Joe at Hero Gear. He has a little more knowledge on this topic that I do.
  9. Click on the link at the top of the player. It will work. Great story. This guy is tough!
  10. I suspect the squirrel would be unrecognizable after getting hit with that rifle. I would if the shooters in the video were offered a replacement shoulder joint after shooting that?
  11. Safe? Who me?? I should be around. I plan to go shoot on SUN out in Gallatin, so other than that, I am free. Shoot me an email or PM here on TGO when you are going to be around.
  12. I prefer to be loading mass quanitities of rounds and blasting them down range. That initial part was tough to get through.
  13. The one thing that always drove me crazy during my "learning to reload" stage was the initial batch loading. Load a batch of rounds, then test them. Load another batch of rounds, then test them. You have mentioned that you have already loaded 100 rounds. These rounds may be put together correctly, but you have not done any range testing. When I work up a new load, I load 10 rounds with varying powder charges (typically the charges vary by 0.5 grains). I shoot these rounds before moving forward. I know the bug about wanting to reload alot of rounds. I have gone through this same phase. By testing a few rounds, you will gain the confidence when you pull the trigger on your reloads, rather than being nervous as hell. There was a suggestion to "chill out". I would tend to agree. Be safe rather than fast. I'm not one to lecture, but do not mix "adult beverages" during ANY phase of reloading. That could be a dangerous combo. Be safe!
  14. I would be happy to see a third party emerge from the discontent with the Republicans and Democrats. Its apparent that neither party is representing their base. All the current elected officials have lost their minds.
  15. Sooooooooooo, is there a limit on the number of rounds a person can possess? I have more than 6-7000 rounds of .22 caliber bullets. These .22 caliber bullets are NOT the ERB .223 REM rounds, but rather .22LR. My son shoots the hell out of these when we got to the range, atleast 5-600 at any one time. Any of you who have an AR .22 LR conversion kit know these can go fast. I might add that I bought these legally online in bulk. No laws broken. I guess they are moving forward with the prosecution of right-wing extremists. I'm so glad I don't live in the liberal, communist converting states of the northeast. Next thing you know, they will make hammers and sickles illegal.
  16. Yep, and I'm almost ready for the Zombie invasion.
  17. The key to reloading is patience. (Sometimes I wonder why I reload- I struggle with the whole patience thingy.) There is a ton of information out there and much of it varies. The key is to develop a simple plan to build your loads; loads that work in your weapon(s). I have a method that works great for me. So far its been safe and the rounds have been very accurate. Take you time and work up loads that you feel comfortable with. I am still new to reloading, but I am learning something new everyday. Hell, I just saw something new when I was researching the info on your 9mm rounds. This is very addicting. Enjoy!
  18. We might as well continue to show our discontent with emails and phone calls, as we are stuck with this guy for another 5.5 years. He was just re-elected in NOV 2008. From the way he is voting, he doesn't plan to see his career go beyond this final term.
  19. What grain bullet are you loading? As per the Speer and Hornady reloading manuals, your COL (cartridge overall length will vary depending on the weight of the bullet you are reloading. Looking at my manuals, the COL can range from 1.070" with a 90gr bullet to 1.130" with a 147gr bullet, with a max COL of 1.169". Another check will be once you have found the correct COL. Take a round and using a thin Sharpie, draw a line around the bullet, where it meets the brass case. Take a COL measurement with your calipers. Now chamber this round and see if the bullet is pushed into the brass case. If you see no signs of the bullet moving, verify by remeasuring the calipers. A point of safety - I do not have a primer or powder in the case until I am happy with the COL and seating of the bullet.
  20. GEESH, WTF?!?!? This guy is beginning to piss me off. We need a true conservative to represent us and our values. Email sent
  21. PHOENIX -- The drug war in Mexico shouldn't be used as an excuse to try to restrict American gun rights, Sen. John McCain said Friday at the National Rifle Association's convention. The Arizona Republican and former presidential candidate told thousands of people in Phoenix that the United States needs to do more to crack down on gun smuggling into Mexico, but that such assistance in Mexico's war against drug cartels doesn't require restrictions on the gun rights of law-abiding Americans. "It should be noted that any effort to restrict gun ownership in the U.S. will not stop Mexican cartels from acquiring guns and ammunition from other countries," McCain said. He added that cartels are already getting grenades and other weapons from other countries. McCain said the cartels threaten the security of the United States because America doesn't have a secure southern border and has a big appetite for illegal drugs from Mexico. Kidnappings tied to drug and immigrant smuggling have earned Phoenix the title of America's kidnapping capital. Mexican President Felipe Calderon is waging a war against his country's powerful drug cartels. The drug organizations also are fighting each other for the most lucrative drug and immigrant smuggling routes into the United States. Calderon has sent more than 45,000 soldiers to drug hotspots beginning in December 2006. More than 10,750 people have died in drug violence since then. Federal agents in the United States say many guns recovered at killings in Mexico were smuggled there through the United States. Like other speakers at the NRA convention, McCain said the U.S. government has overstated the prevalence of guns being smuggled from the United States into Mexico. Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele said Democrats are using violence reported in the news to frighten the public and push proposals -- such as a revival of the expired assault weapons ban -- that would restrict the gun rights of law-abiding people. "In February, President Obama's administration concocted a crazy theory that crime in Mexico could and should be prevented by banning guns in America," Steele said. Obama has said he respects Second Amendment rights, but favors "common sense" on gun laws. In February, Attorney General Eric Holder said the administration wanted to bring back the assault weapons ban, but dozens of congressional Democrats oppose such a move. Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, a Republican who has asked the federal government for more National Guard troops to respond to her state's problems from immigrant and drug smuggling, said the answer to violence along America's southwestern border shouldn't be to take away gun rights. "The issue is to secure the border and leave the Second Amendment freedoms alone," Brewer said.
