I bet the forum requires x number of replies to existing threads before you can post a new one.

I was wondering about the ammo, buddy of mine gave me a bunch of re-loads and he always loads a little light. I bet you have nailed it on the first shot! I'll be on the range Sunday and run some new stuff through it.

I've got a 45 Molina 1911 with an Ed Brown barrel, recoil buffer installed, Main spring and rod replaced as well. Shoots very very accurate but it's ejecting shells all over the place. Some off to the side or straight up, others smack your forehead. Most have a slap mark where they are hitting the slide. There's also a small area of powder residue on the spent casings, always in the same area... It feeds ammo fine, and never a FTE. Any suggestion on what the issue could be or has anyone ever run into this before?

HBO runs the story line fast, much quicker than the book... My favorite character is the 'Dwarf ', I hope he will take it all, but the way the books are written, just when a character gets your attention he gets whacked. So the Dwarf is probably doomed.

He's getting on up there in age and I understand that he also touchy about everybody questioning his ability to finish... Great show though.

Swim, some claim the flash suppressor helps the accuracy on the Mini, barrel harmonics or some such. Who knows, it may just do it. I got a cheapo slip on suppressor that uses a pin, so it looks evil. You can always have it threaded and crown the barrel, that would probably help the accuracy a bit.

I've thought about selling in to this market... but then the 'prepper' in me pops out on the other shoulder and says 'How will you make change for a .308 or 30-06 if ya got no 22's if the SHTF?'

Mine is a 580 series, the BC fits very well, they make good stuff. No slop at all in the folder, my only complaint is that it can be a bit difficult to get it to release and fold. The receiver fit is very tight, I had bedded the old wood stock but the BC is tight enough that I don't think it would be much of an advantage. Edit to add that no, I don't have an original folder, wish I did!

I have a Butler Creek folding stock... Love the look and all, but shooting isn't improved. If you are talking about an original stock finding one shouldn't be a problem, but they are expensive

What do you do when your prepping supplies get old
Poor_Dog replied to a topic in Survival and Preparedness
We threw some 10 year old white beans in the pot tonight... stored in a vaccuum sealed bag all this time, still good. Lots of dried foods will keep much longer than you would think. Wet pack foods start to lose vitamin content but most don't spoil unless the can is damaged. Store what you eat is a good rule, but I typically don't eat out of a can so it's hard to rotate 50 cans of Ravioli . I switched to over 60% of my food storage to dry foods. Just buy quality names, keep it acclimated, in the dark and sealed. -
Another guy prepping for something.... not sure what.

Welcome to TGO... I look at prepping as if it were insurance, may never need it, but man it sure is nice should the situation ever arise. -
You are right about the gas block, but you can glass bed it, can also pillar bed.

I had to take mine down to Okeechobee for a couple years and so registered it here in Tn. Now I got a title and a tag for it, fairly sure there are some numbers on it somewhere.

Evidently these are highly sought after: http://nashville.craigslist.org/mat/3555482330.html

I tried to make a homemade one... got it up to MOP (Minute of Pie Plate). Tried bedding it, torquing the gas block, caressing it in the dark, tri-rail clamp, suppresor... Still no love Try some 62 grain ammo, that really tightened my groups up at a hundred. I can out shoot their groups at 50 yards now with a scope on it. Just the same, I'll never part with it, gotta love the mini!

Batteries can be a large expense unless you do some shopping. A typical deep cycle battery would be sucked dry and ruined in short order. I used recycled UPS batteries from the phone company, over 100 lbs each. 2 year old, 10 year life, for 35-60 bucks. I've also bought them by the pallet at $15-20 per battery. You have to be careful about deep cycling them, usually never go below 12.0vdc, I tried to keep mine at 12.1vdc or above, 13.1 or so is fully charged, 11.0 is dead, below that is real damage to the plates. Operating, mine would generally hold 12.4 to 12.6 until they started to run down, then they dropped rather quickly. Charging is important too, your charger will need to float the batteries at 13.4-5, over charge them at times, shut the system down if need be, so on and so on. There's allot that goes in to it, read and research before anybody takes a shot at it. I couldn't get in to all of it without writing a book, you can get seriously injured by hooking up some batteries to an inverter and plugging in the house...

Personal, I started researching/buying it back in '04. More as a SIP type of thing, trying to prepare. I only used one 180 watt panel at the time. Got divorced in '06 and bought myself a cabin down on the Harpeth river and set the whole system up. I told you wrong earlier, it was 1.4 KW system (8 x 180w). I lived in the cabin and a small camper using the system. The camper could run on it infinitely as it was 12vdc or 120vac, I usually ran on the AC side. That system could very easily run my freezer and all the lights I needed, laptop and satellite internet (Hughes Net). My power requirements were minimal. I kept a generator handy if I needed a boost which was rare. It's important to remember that if you have a 1.5 kilowatt system, at max you are only going to have 65% of that to actually use and that is relying on excellent sunlight. Some of the newer systems may do a little better but not by much. Just to put it in perspective, the average home will use near 40-50kw/day, BUT you can make it work for way less, by arranging your life style around it... Living that way sure makes a fellow appreciate the amount of work a watt can do!
