Isn't it amazing how long, if ever, it takes a rumor to die
Poor_Dog replied to mav's topic in General Chat
I always fact check anything I run across anymore and I'll do it at multiple sites to make sure. Walmart is in business to sell stuff, lots of it. I could imagine a NY City store not carrying firearm accessories, but not any that has any sort of customer demand. -
Good place for DIY's, they have Evergreen factory blemished panels too. Best prices I have found on solar related items and the owner is fantastic to work with. I used their blems, they were very hard to tell from new, matter of fact each box came with a blem and a new panel. http://www.sunelec.com/

I had a system on a cabin/RV that I lived in for two years. Built it myself and when I moved I installed it on my garage and wired a back-feed to the house in case of emergency. Mine was just 1 kw and it was sufficient for what I needed; which was lighting, laptop/internet, television, freezer and such... As far as selling back electricity in Tennessee, the abundance of low cost power makes it close to a 20 year payback or some such, maybe longer. From that aspect I wouldn't recommend it but for a remote location or as an emergency back-up they can't be beat. A 10KW system is going to be expensive, 'specially with the required codes being met...

Well, at least the Brits will get news out.

Zoom in on it, definitely looks like a 'K'... Called out the 30 round mag too. At the risk of stereotyping, I'd say he's a duck. -
Yep, if I did what I'd like to, they would charge me with premeditated abuse of an a$$####...

My wife's feeds hollow points fine from the slide release, but I haven't tried it while it was hot. Does it jamb when it cools down?

Lizard Women... Ahahaha that was great

I got an old 'junk' trailer, I should put it out front and take the lug nuts off, leave the wheels on... Spike the ground in front of it with 16d nails, hide a chain attached to it's frame... Figure a way to attach Mr. Milo's shock collar... Electric Fence...! Sure would be fun to mess with these guys, probably end up liable for supporting them forever and a day.

Got one of those for the wife as well, Rainbow finish. She really likes it

A buddy of mine recommended the site. First gun forum I ever joined, read and researched a few, none as good as here though.

Yep, I got a short laugh out of it, but then realized someone had been prowling around the house... Caught two fellows in my pick-up one night and held one of them until the police showed up. Got all three trailers moved behind the shed and chained several different ways now.

Have a small covered trailer parked at the end of my drive, full of carpentry tools. I had ran a lock through the hitch and got to thinking about it later so I jacked it up and took one of the tires off. I noticed it had fallen off the jack stand (I thought) and investigated it this morning. Someone had knocked the lock off and tried to pull it, evidently they didn't notice the missing wheel. I'd like to have seen them try and get that heavy SOB off their hitch with it on the ground and all. Dumb-asses! Keep an eye on your stuff...

I really like the 1100's, I have two of them, 12 and 28 gauge. Both perform flawlessly.. an 1100 12 gauge used to sell for 400-450, don't have a clue what they are going for now.

That is something I would have never known if I hadn't joined this forum... :pleased:

Suggestions for a nice stock?
Poor_Dog replied to Poor_Dog's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I'm not in Knoxville, been up there quite a bit lately, but that's coming to a close soon. There's several guys on the web that do stock carving but I can't get many hits for Tennessee. Ones that I have found don't have a website. -
I have a 1959 Model 88 Winchester that was given to me by my Father in ’71. He had purchased it used /new in 1960 from the original buyer. The guy had bought the rifle to deer hunt with and on opening day, dropped it from his tree stand, shattering the stock in to three pieces. The old man got a deal on it and took to a body shop in town where they glued, doweled and fiberglass-ed it back together, then coated it with black lacquer. I took my first deer in ’74 with it. By 1982 it was showing a lot of stress on the stock and I found one in a gun magazine from a dealer in Arkansas. It’s figured black walnut ‘tree root’ and back then the blank was 275 dollars. I don’t have a clue as to what it would cost now, easily in excess of a $1000 though. I have worked it by hand and now have it mounted on the rifle, but it needs a professional to finish it properly. All I’ve done is sand it to the point that all the routing marks are gone and finished it with urethane. I’d like to find someone local that has a great reputation at stuff like this as well as get their opinion on what needs to be done. I don’t know if I want to get checkering, a weak side carving or what. Or maybe just get it professionally finished and fit to me. It’s a closet queen now and will remain so… I want a piece of art when it’s done and expect to pay for it. Anybody got a suggestion?

Get one bundle of matching shingles, pry up the bad shingle and the two just above it. (pull the obvious nails of the ones above it). Nails run through them and the one below. Slide new one in and nail it all back down... very easy fix. Bundle of shingles will show nailing pattern on the back. I wouldn't worry at all about the hole in the decking.

I am going through probate now with my father's estate. AFAIK Vaiger is correct in everything he said. In my case, basically everything that wasn't joint or TOD is going through probate, aside from household items. Titled vehicles, property, all are included in probate, even with a valid Will. I've been told to expect to have it settled in six months, with one year after it's opened for any unforeseen debtors popping up. Our attorney is charging 2500 to 3000 for fees, but the Estate is small and totally without encumbrances.

Burglary possibly tied to gun owner map

My bad guys, I can't think much past my keyboard at the best of times anymore. -

This may have been mentioned but if you are selling in this market, you are also putting yourself in a position of buying. It's like trying to catch a falling knife.

I believe if that release lever is on the right, it's a type II, if on the left it's a 1b or 1a, I think that's right. I can't see the picture well enough, but it looks like the lever is on the right. Doesn't change anything as it's a fantastic looking pistol, I'd love to have one.

Right or wrong, I was always taught at an early age avoid dry fireing a rim fire, everything else was fine
