  1. I have always thought that if you are threatened and then the bad guy sees you have a gun pointed at them, if they turn to run the threat against you is over and you cannot shoot them in the back. The same I think would be the theft of Property. If you catch someone trying to steal your vehicle or other property and you have a gun and you call out to them to stop or you will shoot or something similar and they break and run again the threat is over and you should not discharge your weapon unless they turn and come towards you which inturn puts you physically in danger and you shoot them anywhere in the front of their body. As far as Officer Delke, I feel he was totally justified in shooting the perp. He gave orders several times for the man to stop and he didn't. He was also running with a gun in his hand which meant had he stopped and turned on the officer with the gun officer Delke's life was in imediate danger. By officer Delke not knowing what the perps plans were he was justified to discharge his weapon. If you don't have anything to hide and an officer tells you to stop the best thing to do is stop and if he tells you to stop and drop you stop and drop.....JMHO
  2. "Teen suspect killed in restaurant robbery attempt is Nashville's third self-defense shooting in ten days" That is the headline of a story right now. All three were attempting to rob people at gun point when they got shot. The good guys have been charged. I hate to break it to you, but the Nashville DA has charged a cop with murder for doing exactly what you described. And if they can do with him; it will be a lot easier to do it with any of us" Well evidently the news was incorrect because they said the DA was not pressing any charges against to good guys and said he was declaring them all as self defense. I was just posting what the news said. I'm sorry if my post was incorrect but was just going by what the new was saying. The DA must have changed his mind after the news reported differently. So evidenly if a punk with a gun attempts to rob you and you are armed you are just suppose to let him rob you and you are not allowed to defend yourself. What good is it to have a carry permit and be armed if you are not allowed to defend yourself against a robber????
  3. Well, I was watching the news tonight and another bad guy with a gun was shot and killed by a good guy with a gun in or around Nashville and all of the cases have been declared self defense and the news medias have named in Vigilante Justice. I'm sorry but when someone confronts you with a gun and threatens you and you shoot him that is not Vigilante Justice. That is self defense and that loks like that is the way the DA is seeing it also and no charges are expected to be filed on any of the good guys. On another note I couldn't believe how many firearms have been stolen from unlocked vehicles just this year. Over 200 guns have been stolen out of unlocked cars in the owners driveway at night. And they wonder how these youg kids are getting their guns? I didn't catch the name of the person that works at the DA's office but he said that they are looking at going to the legislators and getting a law drawn up making the car or truck owners liable for charges if the gun that was taken from their vehicle is used in a crime. I don't know if that will happen but something has to be done about gun owners that are so careless as to leave a loaded gun in an unlocked vehicle over night!!!!!.............JMHO
  4. It was funny to every one but the guy wih the rope. The best laid plans of mice and men does not work everytime..........
  5. I will add one more post to this and then sit back and read. This young man has been put out of the home of his parents because of drug issues and other reasons. That alone should be a flashing light to draw attention to the fact the young man could very well cause problems to the church or worse some of the members. It is better to act before something happens than have to do something after there has been a more serious incident with possible injury or worse. Be Pro-active so you don't have to be re-active..........JMHO
  6. If the young mans parents have given up on him it sounds like he has been a handful before coming to the Church. There is only so much help you can give anyone that does not want to help themselves and it sounds like this is one of those cases. He was living with his parents and would not continue his rehabilitation which is an indication he does not want help, he wants a handout. I don't know if the church leaders have notified the proper authorities such as local police and discussed their problem maybe they should at least make them aware of the issue. The police may already have him on their radar but if they don't they need to..............JMHO
  7. All the weather forcaster I have heard talking about it does sound like middle to west Tennessee is going to get rain from Barry. Most of them are talking 3 to 5 inches in the areas they mentioned and they said some flash flooding may be a chance in some areas. Louisiana may be in some serious trouble with the Mississippi River already at flood stage and the storm ahs not even hit yet. Gonna be a good test on those new levies they built after Katrina.
  8. I am far cry from being trigger happy so chances are I would not just shoot someone for entering my home through an unlocked door as long as they announce they are in the house. Where I now live chances are if anyone comes in my door it will be a realtive of close friend. My Daughter and SIL and other family members that live close by always knock and wait for my reply to come in along with all friends. Now that being said coming thru a locked door which again would require some major noise with the dead bolts on my doors and al my windows also lock and would require breaking. Any entry of that nature may not get you shot but it will put you in a position that when you are inside you will be facing a muzzle of a large bore gun and told to get face down with arms spread while we wait on authorities. Any failure by the perp to follow the orders might be cause for things to follow accordingly. Darby hears everything and alerts me to anything out side the house also.
  9. Sorry Dave but thanks for reloading it so folks can see it. I thought it was pretty funny when I saw it and figured folks here might get a kick out of it. I thought it was pretty smart for the moose and I also could not believe it was 96 in Anchorage the other day but then the weather seems to be messed up everywhere and all creatures including humans are having to adjust to it.....
  10. I posted this yesterday without realizing I was out of space and had to go and delete a bunch of really old attachments to open up some space. I think folks will enjoy this was reason for posting it. https://nypost.com/video/moose beats the heat with homeowners sprinkler/
  11. I know several folks that have gardens doing about what yours is doing and these guys normally have great gardens. They say that the weather is so screwed up that you don't know whether to water or not water. The weather people will call for rain and it does not rain and when they don't call for rain and they water, it wil rain a flood on their gardens. A couple of them are looking at investing in large round type green houses for next year to put their gardens in and that way they will be more in control of what the weather does on their gardens. They said it is either feast or famon with them this year. Oh yea, I heard it was 96 degrees in Alaska yesterday and news media here showed a moose that figured out how to stay cool. It was laying under a shade tree in someones front yard and the people had sprinkler type hoses spraying their yard and the moose was laying right where the sprinklers would spray water on it. Hope this works: https://nypost.com/video/moose-beats-the-heat-with-homeowners-sprinkler/
  12. I am using an AT&T Hot Spot for my internet but mine is not wireless. It plugs into a USB port on the computer and I get 10 gb's for $50.00 a month and I never get even close to using that much. When it began I was getting 3 Gb's and then after about 2 years it went up to 5GB and I didn't ask for it. They just raised it and the cost remained the same. Last year it went up to 10GB and again the price remained the same. I can unplug it from desk top and plug it into laptop and it works just as good.
  13. I don't actually own much property I would shoot someone over if they were trying to steal it. Now Darby on the other hand is a family member and messing with her you can possibly figure on getting shot. If you are in my house and not suppose to be you can also plan on getting shot. I did go out it the back yard for a few minutes to pop off a few caps at targets SIL has set out against a berm and I learned one thing. Darby was almost impossible to find and I finally found her in the house under the bed in her safe spot where she goes when it thunders. I left the door cracked and she opened it when she went in the house. Have not got her Doggie door in yet but I taught her how to nose open the door and I leave it cracked about 3 inches and she opens it with her nose and comes in. Now if I could just teach her to close it back things would be great..............
  14. As far as computer security I have Bitdefender on both of them so I don't worry to much about security any longer. I am going to pick up my rebuilt refirbished computer this weekend but won't be putting it online till it gets closer to January.
  15. Gosh!!! was not expecting to open up a can of worms but glad to see so many folks willing to help. I use to have a friend that owned a small computer repair shop and he would take trade ins on new sales and was located in Hendersonville TN. About 2 years ago he moved into a small strip mall near Rivergate Mall and He is where I purchased this desk top I am using now. It is an E-Machine per say but he actually took and E machine and built a bascially complete new computer and he had it for sale out in the sales are and was asking $299.00 but I got it for 200.00 cash and I have been using it for 10 years trouble free. I think I might call him and se if he is still in business and see if he has another rebuilt one like this one with windows 10 on it and see what I can buy it for if he has one. Ok problem is solved. I just spoke with Shawn and he has 4 desktop computers he has built or rebuilt and all have 7 at present and he is asking $339.00 for them. He said he would boost the ram for me on the best one he has and put 10 on it and I can have it $250.00 and he will have it ready in a week. I want to thank everyone here for your response and like I said in opening post. When I need to find help I know I can count on folks here. Bersaguy aka Doug
  16. It is my understanding that in January Windows 7 will no longer be supported and folks will be forced to update to Windows 10. My questions are can I have windows 10 installed on this old desk top I am using or do I need to get a new one? Also if I can get it installed on this old machine how much of a change can I expect between 7 and 10. Is it a big change or does it operate pretty much like windows 7? I am sure there are folks here probably using windows 10 already that were windows 7 users before updating. I am not a computer Guru so I have to ask. If anyone can offer up some information a dummy can understand it would be greatly appreciated. I come here to ask these questions because I trust folks on this site to be upfront and honest. Any help will be greatly appreciated Bersaguy aka Doug
  17. I have no clue what Roku is. I don't keep up with all the new stuff being offered. I'm not really an electrnoic guru about all the stuff offer these days. I have two indoor antennas I was using in the last place and on a good clear day I can get a few channels really clear. Channel 2, MeTv, Justice channels come in well on Living room Tv and Bedroom Tv gets ION really good as long as there is no rain between here and Franklin and I am happy with ION to watch at night before bed. Tommy said we can look at an out door antenna being moved from his house to mine and me trying it out. He said he didn't get but a few channels when they used it but he also lives in a house surrounded by huge trees and my back yard which is also the direction of most broadcasting towers are in is all open and has no trees. He said they don't watch TV anyway so he will try and get it moved this weekend to back of my house. I guess we will see if that works. It is suppose to pick up stations 150 miles away with a clear view and no trees.
  18. Yea, Tommy said they told him the end of August they will have it this far or farther. I went out to run a few errands and there was a crew working on the side of the road and I stopped and ask them if they were working on Fiber Optics Lines and the forman talked with me and said that by September 30th depending on weather they will have Fiber-Optics in this entire area. I asked him if he knew what servers would be offering service and he said he didn't. They were just contracted to install it. He said the servers will be contacting folks as they get closer to completing the installation of the lines.
  19. She is adjusting well and so far has got to chase 1 rabbit, 1 Squirrel, 4 turkeys and 3 deer. A doe and 2 fawns. the Turkeys have been back twice. Tommy said there are about 3 different small flocks of them and he has seen 2 different ones at the same time in different parts of the yard.
  20. I will be back posting more soon..............
  21. Want to thank all of you for the replies. I will try and asnwer them but if i miss one don't be upset. As far as living in the country. I have lived in the country most of my life when I was younger and loved it. Then I moved to Gallatin, in town and lived there 20 years and would still be there if it was not for the land lord and his idea to renovate all 3 of the units so he can jack up the rent when he rents them next time. I would not mind living in the country again if I was 20 years younger but got use to having stores 10 minutes from my house and use to city noise at night. I did finally get a good nights sleep last night and feel a lot more rested this morning. As far as the Fiber-Optics, I am not holding me breath on it. As long as my AT&T hot spot keeps working here I will have internet. I have been shopping outdoor antenna's so I can get better TV service. I am looking for something with at least 150 mile range. I think I do have satelite options also since both houses here have dish's on them from previous owners so evidently it works. Just need to find out which network was here last time and see if they still offer service in this area. Just about every house on this road has a dish on their houses. I am a long ways from being settled as far as boxes still packed. I have the essentials out and put up and now will take my time on the rest. There is still a few things that Tommy needs to do to the house but I guess those getting done will depend alot on his work schedule. I am going back to Gallatin a couple times this coming week to wrap up some loose ends. Last bills paid, Change of address at post office, going to insurance company and giving them new address, Going to Social Security office and giving them new address, then going by Department of Safety office there and giving them new address and getting new license and new carry permit. I don't think that can be done online but will be easier to just go there and do it. Well, thats about it for now. will update this when I have got things done. Again thanks for the replies. Bersaguy aka Doug
  22. Well it's finally done. I finally got moved to my new home. I now live in Gordonsville Tennessee and back in the country again after 20 years of city life. I forgot what it was like to need something from the store living in the country. It's not a 10 minute trip to grab a few things anymore. The nearest stores are about 12 to 15 miles away. So now I need to get back in the habit of when I go to the store I need to stock up instead of just grabbing a few things. I also am now living in a house I could have put my last house in the living room of. It's a journey just to make it to the coffee pot first thing in the morning!! The kitchen is also huge. Master bedroom is as big as both of the bedrooms in the old house. I have put all of my furniture in the rooms and they still look empty. Getting TV reception is an adventure also. I'm shopping a new antenna this coming week. Need something with more than a 50 mile range on it. Tommy said they are bringing Fiber-Optics lines down this road in about 2 months and I am sure hoping Spectrum is one of the servers on it. If it is I will be getting TV and Internet as son as they can hook me up. Tommy (SIL) says he just wants internet cause they don't watch enough TV to get it. Another thing is I have not got a good nights sleep since I have been here. Not use to it being so quiet at night. Oh well just wanted to bring folks up to date on whats going on in my life..................
  23. +1 !! Wishing everyone here a Happy Independence Day!!!
  24. Well, I don't know about all that stuff but do want to wish all of you Dads a very nice and Happy Daddy's day and hope you are surrounded by family on this day...............
