  1. No need to apologize to me. I just made an observation. I'm accustomed to you snappiness. :)
  2. I thought that it sounded a bit snippy.
  3. The ta-tas that you save just might be your own. Men can get breast cancer too.
  4. Personally, I cut the guy some slack. I am not sure that he retained enough intellectual capacity to deal with his wife after the shooting - which would be expected after having a devastator, (IIRC), take out some of his forebrain. His wife, on the other hand, doesn't get any slack from me.
  5. Sure, the gun locking mechanism broke.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQfzwFloVqA
  6. Yes, but just what kind of "Action" was going on there?
  7. I don't know if this suit was in California, but it is a community property state. My WAG is that they had to sue her too since they were married and both owned the money from the book.
  8. I wouldn't qualify it as just "building crap" for your kid; he clearly threw-in a lot of love to give them something GREAT! Notice, he said the boys helped.
  9. Think they might have dried up because people lost interest in this schmuck, and jackass blamed a convenient story?
  10. If more people carried VOX recorders used in court during civil cases then you wouldn't have to worry about such things. But, (and coming from a former LEO who was "sued" for something that he did NOT do), departments don't just say "Oh-well" to civil suits. Many bottom-feeding type lawyers look for the easy score because departments know that it's cheaper to settle than to fight. My department's insurance company paid the prick $10,000 to go away even though it was proven that they story he told was completely false.
  11. I hate adults that beat, (not to be construed with spanking), on children. Notice that his father stopped when Gordon got big enough to fight back? What a F'n COWARD!   In contrast, I remember when I was 16 years old, (I was quite larger than my father already), some of my friends were talking smack about if their dad hit them they'd kick his ass. I told them that my dad could double up his fist and punch me right in the mouth and I wouldn't strike back, because if my father did something like that I must have done something to deserve it, and I was quite serious. I had a childhood friend with and abusive, alcoholic father like Gordon's, so I know a little about what he went through.
  12. Damn, Gordon, I want to go kick your father's ass!
  13. I disagree. That fact makes him even more culpable.   EDIT: I also doubt Kyle went on TV with that intention. People say stupid stuff while mic'd just about every day and later regret it in hindsight. The fact remains that dead people cannot assist in their defense. I can see the plaintiff's lawyers being downright giddy when they heard that Kyle was murdered. Imagine your widow getting sued for something that you did.
  14. The difference being suing an estate: hardly a "win" in my book.
  15. Most of us have the good sense to stay out of a bar populated with people of a particular mindset and who's culture is settling such conflicts with violence, or if in said bar NOT contracting diarrhea of the mouth. If I went into a "biker bar" and started running my mouth off in a derogatory manner towards bikers I'd expect to be assaulted. Where's his responsibility in this matter? You cannot engage in inflammatory speech and be innocent of the results.
  16. Dude! That's just WRONG! :)
  17. It was my understanding that it wasn't a fight but that Kyle punched him in the mouth once for running his mouth, and then quickly left the bar while he was still down.   I think it's complete BS to sue the widow of a man who wasn't alive to defend himself in court. The defense relied on a video taped deposition IIRC. Kind of hard to defend yourself after the fact since you can't expound or help your lawyer cross examine witnesses. If they felt the need to reach a judgment then it should have been a dollar.
  18. Geez, I remember a day when I worked 88 to 96 hours a week, (40 at my security job, and 48 to 56 as a "part-time" police officer), at barely over minimum wage in order to support my family and reach my goal to be a full-time police officer. Most people have to work HARD to get where they want to be financially.
  19. To fabricate a story is one thing; to NOT color a perspective is another. I'm not accusing you of telling a lie to garner attention, but none of us know you well enough to get a read on your personality and thus your perspective.   My answer is, (or was), easy: I would follow no order to confiscate a lawful citizen's weapons, or their property in general for that matter.
  20. Sorry, but I don't get this. NOTHING that you have written would lead someone to believe that the owner of the gun store is responsible for what was said: therefore, you have no reason to withhold that information that I see. I know that I ask out of curiosity. If it were a shop that I frequent I would want to know if these officers were regulars that I might recognize. Since you state that the owner heard it and was shocked I would like them to witness to the story. No offense, but your low post count and the fact that there's two sides to every story makes me reluctant to believe that it went down as you state.   To answer you earlier question, I am a former LEO from another state and another decade: however, personality traits of those attracted to LE careers don't tend to change.
  21. Dude, seriously, run! Let the other dude have her. "Fight" for her? It's one thing to compete with another guy for that initial attention from her, but you don't marry someone when there's still that "fight" going on, PERIOD! She either loves you or she doesn't; end of story. This is coming from a man who's been married to my one and only wife for over 35 years. We got married when I was 18 and she 17.   EDIT: And women claim that men have commitment issues!
  22. I have a question, has the dude mentioned that he's bought a box of adult diapers?
  23. Exactly! What shop was this in?
