  1. Link doesn't work, but I went and read the story from the website. Good outcome to me. I'm a HUGE advocate of always having your gun ON YOU, and don't like the whole carry gun being in the car somewhere - but this time it worked for the armed civilian, good on him/her.
  2.   I might get ragged for saying this, but - SO glad I'm not in Chattanooga with that being the only place to go shoot matches anymore - good club, but my GOODNESS too many people.   I always kinda had the feeling that I (and the other "new" folks) weren't exactly welcomed guest - but now going to matches with FAR less people, I don't blame them! Shooting 12-15+ people squads is rough.   Chattanooga needs another club hosting matches.
  3.   I thought that too, but then realized -  1 in chamber, 2 in mag (in the gun) is how you start the drill - shoot 3 rounds (1 chambered, 2 in mag) then reload (fresh mag)
  4. Getting close to 30+ glock mags - haven't found a bad one yet. Bought about 10 used, still haven't found a problem with any yet.   That said, probably not even 10 get used 90% of the time. Few other just stay loaded.
  5. Thought I'd update this thread.   Went to royal range yesterday and shot on the pistol range - quite nice and had the place to myself at 11:30 for almost the whole hour until another couple came in when I was finishing up. Place is nice and shiny new, people were quite friendly, and the ranges were VERY well lit (hate the dim indoor range lighting). Ammo prices seemed quite good, especially for a range. Did not go to the gun counter - lest I be tempted with money I don't need to spend.   The only thing I didn't like was the target computer/control thing. It worked fine and was easy to use but they had preset distances for the carry class - set to 8, 14, 20, 30, 36 and 45 feet. The RO showed me how to use it, and just to use the preset distances - I didn't ask IF/HOW to set to my own distances but I will next time. I would much rather shoot in yard increments, and be able to set for each distances I prefer. Hopefully you CAN set your own distances, and will find out soon - hopefully they wouldn't have everything preset - especially the other ranges.   They do have annual memberships   -Base Membership- (Non Peak Hours) Monday-Friday 279.00 Unlimited shooting Monday-Friday. 4:00 pm every day is the check-in cut off time.   Gold Membership 449.00 Couple Membership 749.00 Add a child for 199.00 Gold and Family Memberships include the following: Unlimited shooting 1/2 Price Range Rental Guns 15% Off Training Classes Member only special sales 25.00 FFL Transfers (includes TBI fee) Free Lane Reservations (with 24hr Notice) *Members may book a lane 24-72 hours in advance.   The base membership works perfect for me, as I can get in on slow days, rain days, when we finish early etc.. I don't have the availability on week nights, and don't prefer to fight the crowds on weekends and try to keep my weekends for getting out to shoot matches anyways.   So I'm looking forward to getting my membership (what I believe is a good deal, for what I need) this week and having a new range close by to go shoot at.
  6. I agree - the hourly rates are steep.   But I'm interested in the annual membership rates, Nashville Armory is 500/yr - if Royal Range could be closer to 400/yr - I can justify that. When I had an indoor range membership before, I'd just about work a range trip into almost every week - could easily do that how close I am to RR.
  7. Sweet, about time.   Not a huge fan a indoor ranges with all the rules and making it the most boring shooting possible, but that said  :surrender: - please Royal range, take my money - it's getting cold outside, and I want to get more efficient at my long distance (25yd+)  shooting with my pistol(s).
  8. If my memory serves me right, I believe it was sellier & bellot - had 2 boxes of 180 gr 40s&w, took it to the range on 2 different trips and was almost shocked when I picked the brass up. It was unbelievably clean - even very little residue inside the casings.    I've shot thousands of pistol rounds for the last few years and haven't seen anything that clean before or since. Think I still have some in the safe, in 9mm too - might have to break it out and see if I get similar results again. Anybody else shoot this stuff?
  9. Another vote for SGammo.
  10. No gun, but did get some cash that will go towards a scope and mount for my new-ish rifle.
  11. Yep, couldn't get on it all morning. Then, after I tried twice in a row, my computer wouldn't load any website. Did a re-start and other pages loaded fine again. Was getting ready to put my tinfoil hat on and start yelling about some conspiracy theory.     Was able to get on it later this afternoon. I've noticed it's been really glitchy and on my phone it redirects me to other sites all the time. Kinda sucks too cause I'm always skimming it.
  12. While work is really good, it can suck sometimes - I will be missing once again  .
  13. Buying another G19 just for dry fire was one of the best thing's I ever did. It's also my usual gun for IDPA/USPSA and such, but 90% of the time its used for dry practice (almost nightly) - no more loading/unloading my carry gun all the time - not cheap, but well, well worth it .    As for switching from 40 to 9, I made the switch about 2 years ago. Everything seemed better/easier with the 9, not to mention cheaper. I've never looked back, but do have a few 40 cal's in the stable that aren't going anywhere.
  14. Sweet, gonna have to make this one.  I missed too many this year.   Really look forward to running some of the qualification tests again.
  15. Yep, got the same packet. Been thinking about becoming a lifer too -  Just wish I could get them to promise to quit sending me so much CRAP if I do!   I do like the paypal and 11/11 idea.
  16. Woohoo - get some! :panic:
  17. /\ That sucks! /\   A UGA fan here -  who used to enjoy watching TN find ways to loose, but that ended about a season ago. Its just gotten so bad, I've found myself pulling for them to get decent wins.     Yep, this EXACTLY - no other way to describe it.
  18. Yep, the internet is your friend when looking for mags. I've also scored lots of used mags looking on armslist and on gun forums in the "for sale" listings.   Just scored 9 older  Glock 17 mags  for 105 shipped earlier this week  Got some used LEO M&P 40 mags a few weeks ago for $15 each.   I haven't paid more than $20/each + shipping  for glock mags yet.
  19. Of these two choices, they both should be for rent at any decent gun range/store. Rent them both and see which you like best. I've seen more than one person prefer the M&P while holding one, but then give the preference to the glock after shooting them.   You will be well served by either.   The full size m&p is a tad on the large size for carry - but odds are, you'll have more than one by the time you get to carrying anyways
  20. Nice write up Randy. I have heard and read a little bit about the Rogers shooting course, thanks for the detailed descriptions of the tests .   Some pretty stout time limits!! Congrats on your score and top place finish in your class (Although not surprising at all).   I'm pretty sure I'm not ready for something like that yet, but will put it on my bucket list for training.
  21. Pretty great read here for someone looking into AIWB carry (nws)   https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?120-AIWB-%28Appendix-Carry%29    Been carrying this way for about 3 years. It does demand absolute commitment to safety and awareness, IMO.
  22. Wow, pretty impressive stuff.   And I thought my range sessions were a little expensive.
  23. "Shooter are you ready?" :squint: (me) - "front sight"  "front sight"  "front sight"   "Stand by"  BEEP!! :squint:   "Oooo targets!!!!" :dirty:   POW, POW, POW, POW, POW, POW, POW, POW, POW, POW . . . . . . . :ugh:   :ugh:    :censored:  "front sight"  "front sight"  :wall:
