  1. If this guy was taking his rifle to have a friend look at it, taking it to a gunsmith or some other natural reason for carrying it I would agree. But this a$$hat was doing it to try and get attention and a potential payday. I feel nothing for this guy, its like the boy who cry's wolf day in and day out then complains when the wolf finally bites him in the backside. I am all for 2A rights, and if he carried that weapon practically everywhere he went that would be one thing, but IMHO this was more for the money than for 2A.
  2. I process my own deer but have offered to harvest a couple for some friends and they want it processed. I seen the list but no contacts for the ones around Palmyra where I hunt. Anyone have a good place and contact info or price list for anyone in or around the Palmyra or Clarksville area? I seen a guy off of Hwy 149 that had ads up but I passed by this year and could not find him, looks like some remodeling was done.
  3. I haven't had that issue on espn, but I use the web on my android tablet to set my preferences and I do need to use the app to actually draft due to it needing flash.
  4. This whole thread gave me a laugh. I went to basic at Ft Jackson, C-5-1, tank hill. I was part of a package platoon of Parachute Riggers so went directly to Ft Benning for Airborne school right after basic. 21 years later retired here from the 1-160th SOAR (A).
  5. Yea, I expect that. I have seen pictures of ones that don't get shot and get stretched none-the-less so have a few replacement pieces that I will keep on hand including the bolts and wrenches (got to love HF for cheap wrenches).
  6. I just reworked my deer hoist and have a length of cable I have no immediate use for so may just test it out on one plate and see what happens, but I already have the chain measured and cut so that will be my primary choice.
  7. Rope is a no-go, the splatter would cut it pretty quick. The cable may work, but chain is better due to the flex when the plate is hit even though the bolt and chain will eventually need replacing even if not hit.
  8. Yea, seen that everywhere, I was thinking of using something like this which gives it a slight tilt:
  9. Sounds good, I want to use chain to hang them on steel frames. The frames I can easily repair/replace but just now got the plates so no track record.
  10. Maybe I just haven't used an "upgraded" setup or something, but I just love my old turret press.  By using multiple turrets I can switch calibers in less than 5 seconds.  The lock rings on a few other Mfg's dies are much better than the Lee rings but honestly I never had a die move on me.  Lately I have been reloading 300Blk and have had to change settings on my seating die often, so one of the seating dies with the scale on it would definitely come in handy if its calibrated properly it should be easy to go from one bullet type to another.  But I guess I am just a cheap bastard because I just cant bring myself to getting one.  And since all my pistol calibers are carbide dies, I would be out of pocket at least twice as much for those other dies than my Lee dies.
  11. Currently I remove my plates from the wood frame I use and store indoors, but I want to make it more of a permanent setup.  How long have any of you guys left your plates out in the weather, and how much rust or maintenance (paint) was needed?  Maybe someone who uses or runs an outdoor range can weigh in on this, I figure if anyone leaves them out they would.  Anyone know Hickok45?  I bet he has had his out for awhile.
  12. That would be a waste IMHO.  The main draw for a Sig Brace is not having to go the SBR route.  And as far as I know (someone correct me if I am wrong) putting a Sig Brace on an SBR does not change its legal status so you could still not cross state line with out permission etc.
  13. I doubt that they will change their stance, that would mean that their whole methodology would have to be examined since they say how a weapon is used does not change what the weapon is.  And they would face criticism (not that that makes much difference) from disabled shooters that may need that kind of device.  Also, there is a high chance that even if they do change their minds the ones out now will be grandfathered in.
  14. Yea, they are actually quite good though slower than a full single stage press but a bit faster IMHO than the set you have to use a hammer on.  But if you are developing a load, its great to have one out at the range to load differing charges right on the spot.  I usually load like 5 of each charge I want to try before I head out but sometimes its nice to be able to load more of the one your gun likes to be REALLY sure.
  15. Well sure, them southerners will get their heads stuck in the darnest places.
  16. +1 but add what ever is cheapest.
  17. As I wasn't there I'll reserve judgment as to whether it was a good shoot or not. It just strikes me as hypocrisy that nobody is covering this nationwide, even with the hook about possibly LEOs out of control lately which may or not be the case. There was another unarmed shooting as well, at a walmart I think. The victim was carrying a pellet rifle (from walmart) and had LEO called on him by "concerned" shoppers. I didn't catch the race in that one so may or not be carried nationwide.
  18. I dont know, the rev might come down on them if they try to prosecute the officer. I think they might find the card then.
  19. Probably would eventually, but in my younger days I was a bit impatient. But it was a win-win, the 303 shoots much better and I learned a new trick. I've only used it twice since then, and both were not mine but I did get to put the info to good use.
  20. Yes that's right, but for a non smith its easier to crown the barrel instead of deburring the rifling properly.  I have a 303 brit which had an almost unperceivable burr in the rifling which made it shoot quite erratically, a friend (gunsmith) showed me the DIY method to re-crown it and now shoots much better.
  21. Only thing I can think of is that they put new ends on the connection or if the 8 wire setup they may of used another pair.  We have had CDE, Comcast and uverse and they all ran a pretty thick cable with the CDE one being fiber optic for sure but don't know what the others used.  But at my house the cable and phone guys kept cutting each others cables so in the end they both had to run new cables.  I no longer have a phone, but the lines in the house are all either coax or computer UTP cable for the uverse boxes.
  22. No, not worried about lube in the case. It dries quick and never had powder issues because of it. Not sure about your local area gun stores, I'd call them. Though nothing is 100%, I never had any security issues from midway or midsouth. Heck, for that matter nothing from any online shopping. Did get notice about Target though and I dont shop there.
  23. Nope, that means you are on the wrong end of the fight.
  24. YES, they make a short barreled weapon legal without the $200 stamp. It allows you to cross state lines(without permission), have a loaded "gun" in your vehicle, and if so inclined open/concealed carried. And, it is decently comfortable.
  25. If they can get all the criminals to stop using guns then they are on the right track, otherwise...
