  1. After reading article, it got me curious into thinking that it maybe a fun/rewarding hobby to work on...   https://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/80-percent-glock-and-the-buy-build-shoot-ar-15-kit-shot-show-2016/?utm_source=email&utm_medium=20160202_SHOT16_7&utm_campaign=/blog/80-percent-glock-and-the-buy-build-shoot-ar-15-kit-shot-show-2016/   $136.00   http://www.polymer80.com/G150-Phoneix2-80-Lower-with-Jig-System_p_1137.html
  2. Oh right... My brain definitely doesn't work any where near it used to as I didn't even think about manipulating the hammer during the safety application.   Thank you all!   I so wanted to go shoot her for the first time today. My day off and still couldn't find time. I could go now(soon), just gotta decide if I want to see if Range USA has a wait or not...
  3. I found this(old) thread looking for this very answer and I figured commenting on it would be ok since chances are I'm sure it will cure someones curiosity by now. I was pretty certain that I couldn't fire anywhere near Memphis but was a bit more curious when I read that people in St. Petersburgh, Fl. can because that is a tight redidential city, as in most the houses are close together. There's actually a story about a man that built a very rude range in his back yard and the neighbors couldn't do anything about it.   I'll try to find said story, kind of an interesting read. I used to live near there and if I didn't hate how congested and the cost of living, I would probably go back.
  4. For those that own or are familiar enough to answer this question safely; when I slide rail to put one in chamber, the hammer is cocked, if I flip safety on it acts as a decocker and the hammer slams down but I wanted to make absolute certain that this would NOT fire the gun when applying the safety?   I read a couple older posts on another forum(eek!) and they say there is no firing pin block but the gun would not shoot unless the trigger was squeezed all the way back.
  5. I've been keeping a Hornady hollow point in my pocket in hopes that one would follow my broke azz home one day but no luck  yet . Maybe I should take a different path...   I did just get my PT111 G2 today and fed her some. I'm glad we can buy descent guns at a comfortable(nice way to say cheap I reckon) price these days. It truly is a nice weapon for $253 out the FFL's door.
  6. If you see a middle aged woman with short hair and glasses, she'll help pretty quick. I've been in only a handful of times and she's always been the one working but this is middle of weekday. I haven't tried on weekends or night as that's pretty much when I work.
  7. This stuff is only $10 a box($10.70 taxes) and shoots well and fairly clean. They also have it in a couple other calibers  like .45 for $15.44 a box. I'll be getting my PT111 G2($200)($253 after shipping and FFL fees) today   and will be feeding some through her tomorrow...
  8. One other thing is some ammo(such as the Federal Champion ammo) has a warning not to use in ported barrel. I'm not sure if this is just on lower priced ammo or some SD ammo would have it also? I also don't know the reasoning but just happen to buy the Federal from Walmart a couple weeks ago...
  9. My Walmart's been carrying Perfecta(brass) 9mm ammo for $10.79(give or take a penny) after taxes for 50 rnd boxes. I shot about 250 with no problems, went back and got the last four boxes they had today. Might be worth checking Wally's in your area? Been good ammo for me so far...
  10. Seems R.K. is hitting Nashville and Memphis on same weekend. My broke ass might head down there(Agri center) just for something to do.
  11. Found this looking at reloading supplies(Midsouth Shooters): This is just your run of the mill social media contest, such as; click this link https://wn.nr/sq9M3, share, like and visit Facebook pages to get extra entries. I've never won but gonna keep trying until I do... :surrender:     I only do this because I don't use my Twitter/Facebook for anything besides this kinda stuff. If you do use your social media, I might not do these because they MIGHT throw some ads on your pages but you can enter once without giving up any of those account names. Good luck!
  12. Finally got my first pistol(Stoeger 8000f) and am now saving for probably a Lee kit. I gotta aim low for now and upgrade as time goes on. I've found quite a bit of helpful info on here and will definitely come back for more.
  13. Maybe it is, I thought she told me three on these 9's but definitely could be mistaken. They also had .40 and .45acp(just got back from Wally world again) in stock for same brand. I didn't catch price but am guessing that they are lower than most...
  14. oop, distributed by Tula, my bad...
  15. Walmart on Austin Peay on Memphis has some Perfecta 9mm 50 rnd for 9.88 and it's brass. I believe I read it was made by Tula but all the reviews I've read were good. This one only had about 7-8 left but worth the trip for 3 limit anyways, They also had Brassmaxx 100 rnd tub for $24.?? but I've read bad reviews on these.       I finally got me a pistol(Cougar 8000f 9mm)  and picked up some Federal Champion from dsme Walmart a few dayz ago and it fed well. The Federal was gone when I looked for it today but hope this ammo is as good and if so, hope they keep getting for that price, being brass and all...
  16. So I went sunday and rented a Glock 17 and a Springfield XD. I think I enjoyed the Springfield a bit more. There were times when I could actually see the hit exactly where I was aiming with the XD. I realized I do need to fire a bunch more before I can become comfortable in making a decision in which gun is right for me. I think I might just get an inexpensive gun that I can take to fire every now and again just to get a good stance, grip and overall comfort of firing.      I noticed that I was making minor errors so to speak after some shots. I did want to try more of a variety but 100 rounds went pretty quick and again the whole getting comfortable came into play and I don't think it would have been a fair assessment for each gun anyway. I did have fun and had some really tight groups at times. I was going to try to go today since I had one more day of discounts from the student appreciation card they give us for class but I smashed my thumb and think I'm going to lose the nail...
  17. I forgot about HP not having .22's. Gotta luv the brain cells I have left...    Thanks for all the input, very helpful!
  18. {Comms}This is good, I like the recoil thought and if I started with a 9, I would have a HD weapon on the ready. Even though you hate .40's it's still a help for your reasoning, thank you.
  19. I thought the .40 ammo was more expensive(for some reason?) than what it actually is as I just looked at some prices a little bit ago, so I might be able to check out both when I go to rent. I figure 50 rounds of each should be a descent first range visit. Thank you
  20. So I finally took my first step into my gun hobby by taking intro to handguns at Range USA. I learned some stuff, knew most of it, was a fun class and a fun but short shoot. They let us shoot three guns, a .22, .38 special and my favorite of the three M&P 9mm.       They started us off with a single shot for about three rounds and then let us fire at will for another 5 or so rounds per gun, I didn't like the .38(too small for comfort) but it was still fun. I forgot to look at the .22 name of gun but has definitely seen better days. This was exactly how I wanted and expected it to go as in I wanted to find a place to shoot where I would feel comfortable and also break the ice and learn exactly what I needed to know so I could go in and safely shoot alone when I wanted. Very friendly experience at Range USA      They seem to have an good rental system there depending on their ammo costs, which I'm sure isn't going to be cheap but hopefully shouldn't be too overpriced. You pay $10 for a rental, buy their ammo and can switch out guns at no extra cost. I'm probably going to go for just the 9mm my first visit. I am curious at how the .40 feels but am going to have to save up some before I try that one also.      I'm a bit on the poor(DMV license snafu) side at the moment so I was thinking about getting a Phoenix or Hi point .22, but wanted some opinions about going this route. I won't buy a gun until I shoot a few rentals but I was thinking for a .22 just as a range gun only, that one of these cheapies might be ok until I can get my feet back under me?  This is just an idea I've been pondering and may just wait and buy a home defense weapon as my first. CC is still a ways off.
  21. Kentucky gun co. has it for $252.  http://www.kygunco.com/ruger-lc9-conversion-kit-for-the-ruger-lc380-pistol-98108   Just thought I'd throw it out thar...
  22. It'll be a little while yet. I have some things to take care of and was gonna read some while I'm stuck in wait mode for the next couple weeks or so,
