Agreed. The important thing is that you vote. If ya stay home and say "....they all aint worth a damn....[...and many arent!!...]; you get folks like Nobama....). The reason that Nobama is president today is that most republicans simply couldn't stomach McCain. Keep up the good work. leroy

Robert makes an excellent point here. The fact is that there are no "perfect" candidates. You have to take them for what they are, ...."warts and all"... and, just like you and me, there are plenty of "warts". My gripe, like most of yours, are the senatorial seats. There are those here who dont like bob corker, most all here dont like lamar. At least, corker has held a real job and is a capitalist. I dont agree with all of corker's positions; but at least he is a capitalist, and, i think, a "real person". You can bet that lamar aint a capitalist (...he's crony capitalist...) or a "real person". Lamar is a man who actually believes he is the "best and brightest"; just like that famous senator from Carthage, Albert Gore, Sr. (...read his story sometime, he was dethroned over the infamous gun control act of 1968 vote -- he voted for it....). It appears to me that those of you who want someone thrown out of office ought to spend that energy against lamar. He is a dangerous man. Lamar is much more likely to sell you out for political gain than corker (...in my opinion, anyway...). I've been watchin him for a long time, from the governorship on. Lamar brought "scorched earth" politics to Tennessee. He used every tool at his disposal to destroy his opponents. I dont think that corker would ever do that. Havin posted this little tirade; i dont think that lamar can be beaten when he runs. He is simply too slick a polititian with too great a coalition of diverse well-healed suporters. That's how he can take some of the positions that he does (...and be "independent" as he puts it...) and stay in office. He has made the calculation that he can do whatever he chooses to do and no one group has the horsepower to dethrone him. The only way we can get rid of him is retirement (...unless he does something really heinous, like ole Al Sr. did.; which i think he is too smart to do...). We may get some relief from lamar when Bill (...the Snozz...) Haslam finishes up his second term as governor. That's how i see things lookin out the picture window at the little "blue snow" here on the hillside in east tennessee. Just remember this, it can be worse. You could have Harold Ford Jr. as a senator instead of Bob Corker. Everyone with any sense ought to be thankful for that. I say, thank you Bob!!! leroy

Givin this guy the benefit of the doubt, i think that the local constatbulary in NYC let him take the strange "disorderly conduct" plea to keep him from havin the case to start up the federal court chain. There is more to this on both sides than meets the eye (....i think...). As it stands now, there is no basis to bring a federal complaint. The bottom line is that NYC government doesnt want a high profile case denying 2A rights to go to the supreme court(...if it even has to....). They are afraid of another Heller vs DC. There is no way that the NYC gunlaws wont be finally struck down. They are just delayin the inevitable. Thanks for posting this. I saw an abbreviated story on it last nite on the Daily Caller. leroy

I_Like_Pie pretty well hit the nail on the head. The real use of the 327 will be us reloaders. I like the idea of a 32 caliber that can be stoked up or down. The CAS shooters must have all the 327 and 32 HR single actions bought up, i cant find one anywhere at a reasonable price. I think they are a great "woods gun" for plinkin. A 32 is very accurate. I like 'em. leroy

Supa:______________ Remington 1100 if ya can find one. All the 870 goodies will fit them. They are an excellent shotgun, but must be in top top shape to work (...make sure the gas system parts [o rings, piston] are good --- the good news is that parts are cheap, check Brownells...). Shoot it with the load ya intend to use to make sure it will work (...it most likely will...). Havin said that, i like the auto 5's or one of their brothers (...remington model 11, etc....). The Franchi AL 48's (...i think...) fit in this crowd too; they are a great recoil operated shotgun, and are lightweight (...alloy reciever...). We also have the much villified browning a500r, hated by the auto 5 crowd, and deemed not "browning" enough. It works like a charm. I've mixed target loads and high brass buck loads in it. It shoots 'em all, no problem. T he problem with a semi is capacity. Ya cant put too long an extended mag on 'em due to the barrel recoiling on some of them. Maybee a plus one or plus two. By the way, i think all the new "magic" semi-auto defense type shotguns are overpriced; but i'm a cheapskate. You can buy the shotguns i mentioned in the $500 range. I agree. Buy once, cry once. They are as well made as anyone's holster. Mernickle makes a great crossdraw they call the "extreme" (...i think....) it's a bit less expensive and is also a great holster. I like the idea of the pistol layin in your lap or close to your lap. Short hand move to get it. I'm a lefty myself and i regularly practice "wrong handed" for the car window thing. leroy

If we are movin from opinions and story tellin relm to "takin things serious" relm; what's the difference between the governor dispatchin "rights violating" government operatives to get "good results" and the local District Attorney deciding that some place is a "public nuisance" and closing it down? By the way, i know the answer. There are "public nuisance" laws. The DA is using "the law" to do the same thing that the governor did. By the way, drunk driving was against the law then too. I aint tryin to pick a fight with any of you folks, im simply telling you what happened and what results were achieved; and laughing a bit about the results. That appears to be heinous and offensive to some. Maybe im not sufficiently "serious minded" enough for this crowd of defenders of freedoms. For that i'll apologize. Please forgive my indescression and reinstate me into the community of believers. I can understand (...and appreciate...) you not likin what ive said from a purely libertarian and constitutional view. The point is that there are just as many (...if not a hulluva lot more...) far more heinous and unconstitutional acts perpetrated by operatives of government today as there ever were. Take a look at the paper (...and in this forum....) where there are accounts of the possibility of citizens being held without trial by the military, talkin back to the TSA and being jailed, secret tribunals, etc..... Havin thought about that a bit, it seems to me that the "roadblock" and "go home" thing is a minor in the majors; but that's just me. There seems to be a general confusion among many (...lots of them here...) that all intrusions on rights are equally heinous and that the law is in fact the crowning glory of man. I happen to think that "the law" is a manmade construct and can be jilflirted to suit the whim and will of those who write it. Those espousing freedom and the rule of law have been thwarting the basic intent and circumventing it for as long as there have been political operatives and ratty lawyers. All:______________ I have read with wonderment and, frankly, a bit of amusement about both sides of the "roadblock" thing. I've been thru a bunch of them in my time, and didn't feel invonvenienced or violated. I do, in fact, believe that drunk driving checkpoints clean up some problems that we face. I'm ok with what. Havin said all that, it's story time from the "good old days": I live in east tennessee where there used to be plenty of "crackerbox" beer joints on the old US highways (US 441, US 25); and they were plenty tough to hang around in (...there were some nicer ones too, my dad used to take me to one of them to get a coke while he had a budweiser....). When Buford Ellington was governor (...1959-1963, and 1967-1971...), he had a real "Drunk Drivin Taskforce" you could believe in. The taskforce was made up of Tennessee State Troopers who looked to be on average about 6'-4" and about 300 pounds. They travelled over the countryside handling "problem" drunk driving areas. If too many fatalities were reported in an area, the "taskforce" would show up. They operated by simply going into these "problem" joints (...and those near by....) and telling everybody to go home. No warrant, no "probable cause" no nothin; pure intimidation. They also told the patrons "not to drive drunk"; and they meant it. I've got a good friend who's dad was bad to visit these places, who would regularly walk home when they showed up. Sure, these guys violated a bunch of "rights". They also cleared up a bunch of problems. I'm ok with that. leroy
