  1. This is not a tax on trees so much as a tax on Christians.
  2. I believe it would be well within the LEOs right to ask to see your permit if he noticed you CC or OC in TN as neither are allowed without the permit. I would feel better having been asked since I did go to the trouble to get it and know that him asking could at some point deter or even prevent a crime by someone who does not have a permit and has ill intentions. As for states where CC and/or OC is legal without a permit, I would think that they really don't have a right to ask about it unless they have pretty good evidence that you are either up to no good, making a show of force or do not have the right to own or carry a firearm.
  3. Why would you not show him regardless of the law?
  4. I'm just getting into reloading for .44 myself. How much more trouble is casting and what would the investment be? I've read some talk about different alloys but haven't a clue about the benefits/pitfalls of them. One of my biggest concerns about cast bullets was fouling and having to clean that out. Is that a valid concern? I would love to be able to shoot that much more with cheap bullets.
  5. I've run the numbers for reloading and assuming you recycle the brass every time, you can reload 9mm for about $.10 - $.14 per round (up to $.17 buying once fired brass every time). That depends on the type of bullets you use, with jacketed obviously being more expensive than lead. With that being said, reloading is a lot of work - call it sweat equity. Therefore it may be worth the $.17 per round from USAAmmo or $.20 Federal from Walmart to not bother.
  6. Some people think that freedom means freedom to be stupid. He should have found out where the guy lived and drove his truck through his backyard. We used to get people in the creek behind our house all the time and they usually didn't like me asking them if I could go hang out in their backyard.

  8. What kind of dies are you selling? I may be interested in some of those if you don't mind me interjecting.
  9. I have the Lee Breech Lock hand press kit and have used it for depriming and priming 9mm brass. It's wonderful for these tasks as you can do it on your couch watching tv and it is extremely effortless. In fact, at first you are tempted to muscle the primer into the brass even after its fully seated because it is such a subtle feel. I can't speak for the rest of the process, but for depriming and priming its great and cheap.

    Beware of hot ammo

+1 Sweat equity plus full control over the power of the loads. Just remember that with all the rewards you also get all the responsibility.
  11. Just got mine about a month ago - took right at 4 weeks, then another 2 for the 2 inch thick reading materials.
  12. I completely agree, but somehow can't help but hope that those unfamiliar with guns and HCPs would not immediately assume that a MWAG = mass shooting. It's a pipe dream I know. Personally, I never OC unless I'm in a 100% gun friendly zone for that sole purpose of not drawing that kind of attention from either the guy I would defend myself or family against or those that are happier not knowing. However, I completely support the guy's right to OC, but I think it was poor judgement to do it right next to school property right in the middle of everyone arriving.
  13. That was at my son's school. I saw several cop cars rushing in that direction with their lights going, then several more staked out around the school. When we got there, a teacher was rushing the kids into the school. I totally understand the concept of concealed carry to not "spook the horses", but I wonder if more people did open carry (on the street, not at the mall) if the sheeple would become more accustomed to it and not react so abruptly and cause such a scene.
  14. What types of items do they discount for the C&R and what is the typical discount?
  15. I've only had my Mosin out once and I just dragged a bore snake with Hoppes through it twice at the range, then cleaned it again at home with no obvious ill affects. Probly put around 40 rounds through it. The Hoppes advertises that it works with corrosive primers so I would think it should work just fine. Maybe not as cheap as Windex, but I should have zero concern for rust.
  16. Otherwise it didn't happen, right?
  17. I'm in Catalogs this week for a conference. Were are some of the usual ones as well?
  18. Just received my C&R yesterday - 4 1/2 weeks after sending in the application.
  19. Music City Tactical Shooters has a 3 Gun match next weekend in Dickson. I've been out there as a visitor twice and was welcomed with open arms. Go to Music City Tactical Shooters or look in the competition forum here for info.
  20. Everyone is assuming that the boys are telling the truth about him brandishing the loaded gun at them. Maybe that's the way it happened but maybe not. I'm not saying he's innocent because obviously he overreacted or there probably wouldn't be charges, but as a father walking in on this, who wouldn't. I think the fact that the reporter even mentioned that investigators reported he was a HCP holder speaks volumes about the media and law enforcement's thoughts about those who carry. As far as the guy not raising his daughter right, how many of us would have done the same thing as teenagers if given the chance even tho most of us had caring parents. You can't blame him for kids experimenting unless you expect him to keep her locked in a cage 24/7. I know I did plenty of crap that my parents would have flown off the handle over.
  21. From the vid that looks pretty awesome - shooting the undead around walls and thru windows.I'm sure my son will love it too. He just shot his first match this past weekend and he hasn't stopped talking about it. Not sure what the kids at school will say when he tells them he's goin to shoot zombies.
  22. he facility in Smyrna was great til they sold it. Being 5 min from my house helped too. :-)
  23. The RK shows are always better - twice as many vendors = better variety, no parking fee and $1 off coupon on their web site.Just know that either there is no AC in the building or it just doesn't work so it gets warm rather quickly. Also, be prepared for a long line to get in especially since they haven't had one in Murfreesboro since June.RK admission is also good for both days. Goodman is $8 a day!
  24. What bothers me is the fact that you still must undergo the background check with a HCP as well. Seems like the state would recognize that if you've passed the background check to get the license or permit that that should be enough - some states do allow you to forgo it with a HCP. It can't be a money maker for them even at $10 a pop but seems like it could surely be a way for them to cut expenses.
