I did the same thing. I had a Ruger SR1911, but after firing BigK's 97 I was sold. I love Rugers but I had it sold off and bought a 97BD just a few months later. The felt recoil is much less and I was a lot more accurate with it. I am also a huge fan of the deckocker. All of my CZ's are decockers with the exceptions of my 82 and Shadow which unfortunately is only available with a safety. I REALLY want a stainless CZ but they don't come in a decocker model so I'll have to wait. I asked them about that at the NRA convention and their reply was that they had too many models already.

After 60 days would they be going to go to everyone's house that bought a .45 handgun recently to confiscate them? There may not be official registration, but it's basically the same thing when the ATF form requires model and serial number. And would they look at Wal-Mart receipts to go after the evil ammo people just bought but haven't shot yet? None of that would surprise me in that commy state.
-
Then you'll need another CZ so that you'll have a dedicated lower for the Kadet. I've got mine on a 40P lower (same as P-01) and its shoots like a dream. All the goodness of a CZ with even less recoil.

Congrats and welcome to the club! They are addictive- I'm sure you'll end up with more.

Taurus PT-145. Man I wanted to like that gun. Grip felt really good, the trigger was nice and crisp and it was about as accurate as a drunk, blind man with tourettes I had one and traded it and just had to get another one and it jammed constantly. Kinda like that girl that you really want to be attractive, but you realize no matter how many times you look you can't wish it into being so.

It may be because I'm used to shooting mine but I don't notice any difference either in accuracy or felt recoil between my SP-01 and my PCR. Other than a slightly shorter grip they feel the same in my hand. Maybe the trigger is not quite as nice as a 1911, but there's a heckuva lot you can do to make them better. The most fun is the excuse to shoot it more. Speaking of 1911, I sold mine to get the 97BD and will probably never go back. There's a LOT less muzzle flip and it's more accurate than I can shoot.

At what point is it safe to correctly call conspiracy on .22? The manufacturers can obviously produce it in quantities. 9mm has been in plentiful stock for a year now. And anyone dumb enough to pay gouger prices should be stocked up by now. I know the demand is high, but I don't hear of anyone finding any. Obviously it's not a round used in mass shootings, or for military type purposes, so there's no reason for the government to care other than it's usually the gateway caliber for most people new to shooting. I have some stashed away but neither I nor my son have shot any in well over a year because I don't know if I can replace it.

Comcast wifi free for the masses on your dime
netmindr replied to Dustbuster's topic in General Chat
On my modem it seems to be a public IP on the xfinitywifi connection. However, I agree with Dustbuster, that even though they may have partitioned the networks, if they are both being served by the same physical router, there's a way that someone could access one network from the other. And if they have bandwidth a'plenty for this, surely they can increase everyone's paid pipeline. I've tried going to their web site to disable it like it states in Dustbuster's quote from their FAQ. Guess what, an unexpected error occurs. I will be calling them soon to have this turned off on my modem. If I want a guest network in my house I can configure that myself. If they won't, I'm going back to my personal modem. I only use theirs because it was cheaper for me to get a deal on their triple play bundle with voice and my modem did not support voice. I figured if it was free I may as well have it. Otherwise, I have no use for a land line. Maybe when Google Fiber starts rolling out that will create some competition. That is unless Google decides to do the same thing. Even though this is obviously a business decision to increase Comcasts' footprint, I'm wondering if this has anything to do with Obummer's idea to give free wifi to the masses - on our dime. -
39-17-1311. Carrying weapons on public parks, playgrounds, civic centers and other public recreational buildings and grounds. (d) Notwithstanding subdivision (b)(1)(H), any municipality or county may prohibit, by resolution adopted by a majority vote of its legislative body, persons authorized to carry a handgun pursuant to § 39-17-1351, from possessing the handgun while within or on a public park that is owned or operated by a county, a municipality or instrumentality thereof. If a legislative body elects to prohibit the possession of handguns within a park, the prohibition shall apply to the entire park, notwithstanding subdivision (b)(1)(H). If the area is jointly owned or operated by municipalities or counties, then a resolution adopted by a majority vote of all affected legislative bodies, voting individually, is necessary for the municipalities or counties to prohibit persons authorized to carry a handgun pursuant to § 39-17-1351 from possessing the handgun while within the park. (e) (1) Because signage prohibiting the possessing of firearms while within or on a public park, natural area, historic park, nature trail, campground, forest, greenway, waterway or other similar public place that is owned or operated by the state or instrumentality of the state, and posted pursuant to this section prior to July 1, 2009, remains necessary for visitors who are not authorized to carry a firearm pursuant to subsection (b), the department shall not replace or change any existing signs that prohibit firearms or erect any new signs at existing state areas relative to firearms; however, the department may replace or repair signs that have been damaged or are scheduled for replacement in accordance with the park's regular replacement schedule. (2) If a municipality or county elects to prohibit persons authorized to carry a handgun pursuant to § 39-17-1351 from possessing the handgun while within or on a public park, it shall display in prominent locations the sign authorized by subdivision (c)(1), to give notice that handguns are not permitted in the park. This is the specific legislation. In section (e)(2) it does read that the signage is necessary, however, in (e)(1)(b) it at least infers that existing signage does not need to be replaced just to include verbiage or other indication that carrying is illegal there.

Since the bill died, I read the current law to say that if the city prohibits carry in their parks, even though there is no signage at a particular park or greenway trailhead, it is still illegal to do so. Does anyone see this any differently?

I wonder if buying up all of the gun buster signs so that no one can buy one to post on their business wouldn't be a better idea. Only negative I can see is that their inventory system would simply keep ordering more.

Meant to send you my resume but never did. I'll have to get that to you now.

Couldn't tell you how many times I've put something somewhere and said to myself "I won't forget where I put this if I put it here" .........

In the few boxes I've put through mine, I've never had an issue. I did notice at Walmart the other day they had a hand written note behind the register in the sporting goods dept that said they were not currently selling Remington 700s. I did see on the Remington website http://xmprecall.remington.com the following blurb: Contact the RARC nearest you to schedule a time when you can take your rifle to the repair center for installation of the new trigger mechanism. You will not be charged for the new trigger mechanism or its installation. So it looks like they aren't just cleaning it, but replacing the entire trigger assembly.

Seems like I've always got some nagging joint, tendon, ligament or muscle problems anymore. Could be from playing hockey for 10 years and/or the fact that I've never been one to otherwise exercise or workout, I'm not sure. I can't really complain cause I know overall I've got it better than some, but, it's no fun having pain or muscle weakness making it 10 times more difficult to do daily tasks. I'm trying to fix some of that now by going to the gym, but it takes a while for the benefits to kick in in your mid 40's. However, I know what you mean about the nausea thing. A few years ago I had a 2-3 day bout with vertigo and with the world spinning non-stop, the only way I could handle it and the nausea was to try and stay asleep. If I could have been able to walk straight enough to find my gun it would have been considered. Although I'm sure I would have missed. At least with orthopedic stuff you can usually rest it and get some relief.

A thought I had on increasing .22 LR availability
netmindr replied to JAB's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I had that thought when I posted that too, JAB. However, I don't think the manufacturers have a dog in that fight. As long as they're selling all they can produce, that's what they care about. However, I can see the retailers changing the way they order it and ordering more of the 50 count boxes. But then again, as long as they sell all they have in stock it doesn't really matter to them how it's packaged unless there is a better margin in one than the other. Other than the consumer, the only other winner I can see would be the state as they get 11x the taxes for 50 round boxes vs the bulk boxes since the tax is $.10 per box regardless of the quantity. But they don't have any business telling manufacturers or retailers how to package or sell their products. I was definitely glad to see such it available and so little interest by the resellers to grab it up. But, all in all, sure it would be much better for the shooter, but I don't think there's enough motivation up the chain for it to happen. :yuck: -
Wanting Suggestions on a Good Safe
netmindr replied to luvmyberetta's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Are safes typically not waterproof? I too was a victim of the 2010 floods but my collection was much smaller then with no safe, just in cases. So I just brought them upstairs. I only have a cabinet currently but I do see a need for a safe (or 2). However, I would definitely want them to be waterproof in case of another flood, or God forbid, a fire. -
A lot of 'charities' take subsidies from the government. Guess where the government gets the money for those subsidies? That's right, us! The problem I have with that is that I don't have a choice as to how much I give or where it goes. In my perfect world, the government would hand out zero subsidies and I could keep my money to give as I see fit. That's how it should be. Taking taxpayer money just to redistribute it, in my mind, leaves less money in the hands of citizens who could and would otherwise use it for good things, like stimulating the economy or giving to charities. Plus, if the charities knew they had to work harder to get citizen's money instead of from the government, maybe they would use it more efficiently.

I stopped in the Murfreesboro Walmart on Old Fort tonight and stopped by sporting goods to renew my son's fishing license and there sat about 40-50 50 round boxes of Federal .22. Normal price of $2.47. The surprising thing was that there was only 1 other guy there interested in it. He got his limit of 3, I bought 3 and no one else seemed interested in 50 round boxes, although 1 guy did ask if he had any of the bulk boxes but passed on the 50 rounders. Guess they're harder to turn a profit on.

My 16 yo son was driving the car with me in it one night about 2-3 weeks ago and we pulled into a well lit gas station. I saw a guy with baggy pants walking toward the building like he was going in to pay or grab cigarettes as we pull up to the pump. As soon as we stopped, my son turned slightly to start opening the door and the guy was close enough to the car on his side that he could have grabbed the door handle. Now, my son and I do go to IDPA matches occasionally so he is familiar with having a gun on his hip and drawing. So his first instinct upon seeing the guy was to reach around to his hip like he was going to draw a pistol. The guy immediately put his hands up, said sorry and backed off. He went about his business with no other suspicious moves, but he did hang out at the pump with a women in the passenger seat for longer than is normal. I was in the passenger seat with my shirt tail up JIC. Obviously I was proud of my son for reacting so quickly. He obviously wasn't armed, but the guy didn't know that, and that movement was all it took to get him to abort whatever he was going to do. Could have been just ask for gas money, but he definitely got the idea.

The alien gear IWB holsters look like a heckuva deal. I've made a couple for myself and their pricing makes it hard to justify the expense and effort of doing it yourself. I just like tinkering - when I have time. I go single stack subcompact if I need deep concealment, with a spare mag in a pocket on the opposite side. Otherwise, when I need concealment but can cover it, I carry double stack compacts IWB. If you find the right spot you can forget you have it on. Of course it depends some on the gun too. I prefer the double stack because 10-14 rounds in the mag is a lot quicker than reloading in the rare instance you may need to with less capacity. If, like most wheel gun guys, you feel that 5 or 6 are enough, then there's no reason to go double stack and you can wear it even more comfortably IWB. The hybrid holsters are awesome because they are wide and spread the weight distribution. They don't tend to drag my pants down as much and they won't rotate like the ones with just a single clip. Also, the leather backing on them comes up behind the back of the slide and beavertail so that it won't dig into your side and protects it from sweat .
