  1. A very well written letter. Really gets to the point. Too bad anti's are emotional, illogical types who would rather believe that utopia is right around the corner, and that guns will just become irrelevant. Their heads are in the sand.
  2. Hope for your sake it's just a short visit and not a perm move. If the latter, you may want to consider northern Virginia instead.

    Kimber Owners

You may find some more friendly opinions of Kimbers on this 1911 forum. On the Kimber sub-forum anyway. 1911Forum - Powered by vBulletin
  4. Could have sworn they were going to "fish gill" looking serrations. I thought that really helped the look. Not a big fan of two tone "plastics" either. All black for me thanks.
  5. Welcome from the left side of the state.
  6. Well I know where 4 of them are in Memphis right now, if you want to catch the '09 prices. DW is definetly changing it's targeted competition. It's now who you mentioned, no longer Kimber and SA. It may take a couple of years, but I think you'll see them mentioned in the same breath as Baer & Brown.

    Camo 1911

Similar to another thread going here. Time for the flat black Rustoleum. Great gun though.

    My new 1911...

DW is coming out with several new models in 2010, based mainly off their Valor (flagship model). I can't wait to see them.

    S&W Warranty?

I agree with CK1. Have a Glock, M&P, and a 1911. While I'm not quite ready to compare the M&P trigger to the 1911, I sure like it better than the Glock trigger.

    S&W Warranty?

Never fear. I bought my M&P9 used. Sent it in for light striking after a couple of months. They sent it back fixed, no questions asked. Runs fine ever since. I'd highly recommend the M&P, if you're thinking Glock, XD. etc.
  11. Time to break out the flat black Rustoleum!!!

    My new 1911...

She's a real peach! Here's a good 1911 site, with a really good DW subforum. If this is your first DW, I'd read some of the suggested break-in routines posted here. DW's are real tight...but you want that. They just need some special care in the first 500-800 rds. Have fun! 1911Forum - Powered by vBulletin
  13. I agree with CK1 on the preshooting field strip & clean. Lube rails, etc. This is really standard practice on new 1911's. It's not a bad idea on any gun. Gets rid of the packing lube they dunk them in & gums them up. A friend of mine got a Taurus .40 a while back, and had a pretty lousy first time out. That thing failed to go to battery about 5 times in the first 100 rds. As far as Hydra-shoks, if they're out of vouge, it's only been in the last couple years. I still have some boxes, that I'm counting on doing the job.
  14. I'd say that's a real improvement. Not a big fan of rubber grips on 1911's.
  15. I'd give a +1 to the DW CBOB in 10mm, but around Memphis, I don't see any 10mm ammo. Had a chance to get one myself, but blew it off, just for the lack of 10mm ammo around here.
  16. You can't holster a gun slow enough.
  17. I highly suggest some advanced handgun (carry) training. Unless it's the Israeli variety, you'll find most trainers advise carrying chambered. You'll feel a lot more comfortable doing it after some good training. As for at home...I think you know the dangers with kids.
  18. Glad to have ya here. Good site, good people. Here's another forum that's really good for rimfires. Can't belong to too many of these forums. Mark III - RimfireCentral.com Forums
  19. Yeah, this is great. Too bad it won't ever get past the joke stage.
  20. Yep, great place and even better people/instructors there. Good food for sure. You can eat while watching folks shoot.
  21. +1 here. You can't have too much education when it comes to this stuff. If you haven't shot much, it's even better. You will have fewer bad habits to unlearn.
  22. This has to be the TV Elvis shot upon seeing a "soulless" Robert Goulet belting one out in primetime. EAPKING!!!! - Seriously though, I feel so much more laid back while carrying, especially after a range session. I'm much more apt to vent when not carrying.
  23. A NJ Democrat. What a tool.
