  1. I quit feeding in April and have not fed until a couple weeks ago. Just wanted to see what we would get at our 2 feeders. I will say I was pleasantly surprised at the numbers of birds feeding lately. We have gone through 20 lbs of sunflower seeds in the past 2 to 3 weeks.
  2. Started feeding birds 2 weeks ago. Been having problems with Black Birds eating all the feed and the songbirds not getting any. I was feeding a mixture of Classic Pennington Wild Bird Feed, Black Oil Sunflower Seeds, and Suet. I just put out the Sunflower Seed and the Black Birds and starlings don't like them, so they are leaving the feeders alone. You would not believe how many songbirds we have. My wife and I are loving it. Purple Finches, Titmouse, Black Capped Chickadees, Woodpeckers, Blue Jays, Cardinals, and a few more, are visiting regularly.

    New range toy

That would be an exotic for me. I have nothing to even compare except a Mini 14, second generation. Congratulations and enjoy your new toy.
  4. Well, we had it for lunch. My wife said it was wonderful. I has just enough ham taste, I approved also. It is sitting on the stove and cooling. Bet it is better tomorrow!
  5. Sitting around this morning and decided to prepare a big pot of Soup (2 Gallon). We had guest over last Saturday, and had some Baked Ham, and the bone, left over from that dinner. I chunked a good portion along with 2 Sirloin Steaks chunked and added fresh veggies and tomato sauce and diced tomatoes with Chili Beans. My sweetie's 2 sisters are coming in tomorrow for this weekend. Guess What? They will eat some also. I don't know what it is, but it seems soup and chili get better with time. Going to feast tonight. What we don't eat in the next couple days, we will put in individual containers and freeze it. That way I can take it out as I have the need.
  6. We got several birds this morning and they are fighting big time. Seen 4 in a tizzy at the same time on one of my feeders this morning. Changed out my feed in both feeders this morning. In the past they have been picky just after replacing fresh nectar but not this day. They never missed a feeding. They put on a show at breakfast this morning. One feeder is hanging in the bay window, just outside our breakfast table, so we can get a close-up view of the birds. We got some real small ones which I presume are this year hatchlings. Really enjoy watching them feed.

CanyRiver, could be thermidor. Had hard time reading his scribbling. Whatever the chemical was it wiped out 3 ant colony's overnight. Hope it does the same to termites.

    New Tool/Toy

I just took my TX 22 Competition out for another test drive. I used the provided mag loader to stock the 3 mags. I put 16 rounds in each magazine. I was shooting from a standing "semi supported" (Mag plate seated on a stool) hand hold at 12 yards with the open sights that came on the pistol. No FTF/Cycle, somewhat slow fired all 48 rounds, and put every round, but 2, in a 1 1/2" groups on steel. That pistol shot to the sights, and it is very accurate. Really like the pistol.

    Termites

Our house has been treated 3 times since we built it in 1984.
  10. They chewed my gas line off my truck, chewed a hole in one of my tanks on our RV, chewed the wires off a sensor on my Trail Blazer parked in my drive, were attacking our house trying to get into the attic, and coming in my garage chewing on everything. Yes, a lot of damage.

    New Tool/Toy

I really, really like the one I purchased also. Don't plan to put a red dot sight on it, but plan to take the mounting plate off the one I purchased. The plate is too wide and I don't like that about the pistol. I hope the loss of weight will not cause problems with cycling. I have not had any failures with it as of now. Had it out 4 trips to the range, and put 4 boxes through it. WELL worth the money IMO. Edited; Spelling
  12. I purchased some Fiocchi 22 LR HP Subsonic for my squirrel rifle and it changed my aim point. Wanted the ammo because it is quiter, out of respect for my neighbors. Was shooting regular Winchester 22 LR HP out of the Marlin Mdl 60 and it would shoot 1/2" moa consistently off sandbags. However, when I stocked her with the Subsonic, I could tell it was shooting a little low. Turned out it was about 1" low and 1 1/2" right also. Wondered why I was missing some squirrels. Got her back on now. I have had a squirrel problem for 2 years now and I cannot let them get overpopulated again. They cost me over 3,500.00 the year I started thinning them out. I don't eat them because TWRA said I couldn't. Only during Hunting Season and with a Hunting License. I got some fat critters around. Battled them suckers for a year and finally started winning. You got a problem, you take care of it, if one is forced too!

    Termites

They just finished treating our home for Termites. House is 100' X 34' with a 18'X 20' front porch. They also treated for two colonies of regular ants, and one of fire ants. Cost me 1227.00 total. He said the chemicals they used (Kermidor) were better than they have been in the past. Said they been using this for about 8 years now and have had no reinfestations at all. For several years they could not get good chemicals however that has improved. They checked every inch of my foundation and support piers, and said they seen no signs of termites. we were satisfied.
  14. Sorry, didn't read the heading fully. My previous post is out of place(not 357 thread). I do carry a Ruger Max 9 sometimes and it hits hard with the Winchester Ranger 147 gr + P ammo I just purchased for it. That pistol will qualify for a Pocket Rocket, IMO. By the way I intend to shoot some water jugs when it cools down and I have time. Monday would have been a good day, but we were off RVing at Cumberland Mountain State Park for the past weekend. We found it cooler up there on the plateau in Crossville TN.
  15. We have a few more feeding at our 2 feeders. I guess we have some new hatchlings flying now.
  16. Prayers with you guys KahrMan. Glad she made it. We just lost a 29 YO great nephew who was a victim from a senseless road rage incident. Totally sad outcome for him. Wasn't wearing a seat belt and got ejected. other 2 guys minor injuries. You guys better wear them.
  17. A Taurus 7 shot 38/357 Mag Mdl 617 2" brl revolver in an altered DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. Will rock your socks with Cor Bon DPX in 357 caliber. Been carrying this for 6 years now.

    Termites

I spray the inside of our home 3 times per year. My sweetie hates spiders, and this spraying keeps them at bay.

    Termites

I contacted the local Murfreesboro guy (Keith's Pest Control) that sprayed the house 15 years ago. He did an inspection and said he seen no evidence of termites anywhere under the house. He just left and said he would treat the house and spray for ants for 1,230.00. I showed him where ants were eating my hummingbird nectar. Our house is 100 ft by 34 ft with a large 1 car garage and large front porch. I feel that is a great price for the work rendered. He will treat it within the nest 2 weeks and spray again for ants. No carpenter ants this time.
  20. Very good advice, crc4. I have done a lot of study on this aspect of S D. Read several books and viewed CD's on S D subjects. I agree with most, if not all of what you posted. I am a member of Armed Citizens Legal Defense Net. (360-978-5200) for legal financial help should I be "forced" into a S D action to protect my family or me. I say forced because there is no cowboy in me, and I just have the great desire to avoid any situation where we may be in danger. ACLDN has a great training library, and many good benefits should you need their assistance. IMO, belonging to this group of likeminded members could be totally beneficial.

    Termites

Got a pest control guy coming this morning. Been 15 years since we treated our home. When he treated it last time, he told me the chemicals last about 15 years and then we need to get it retreated again. On that gravel road this morning. Think he charged me about 1,100.00 last time and 300. to install a vapor barrier. Guess it will be more today. My sister-in-law lost her husband 12 years ago and has neglected her house. Her son found her house is full of termites and going to cost a bunch to repair the damage they have done on her property. They are talking 40,000. to replace her damage. Her house is in Alabama and on a concrete slab.
  22. Outpost Armory, in Murfreesboro TN, has PMC 9 MM RN Brass 115 gr practice ammo on sale this weekend for 12.99 per bx of 50, if anyone is interested.
  23. I am some better this morning, although sore in different places. What gets me is, when sitting and thinking about what happened, I realize, like most old men, my abilities are really waning. That is hard guys, as many know. I will survive, with Gods help and time, and need to think before I act from now on. Thanks for all the comments and well wishes, guys. Takes time, at this stage in life, to recover from our mistakes, don't it!
  24. I had a bad day yesterday. I face planted on a rough piece of ground. I was helping put out a round bale of hay on my daughter's horse farm. As I went through the gate, afterwards, one of the horses (Tootsie) was getting past me. I quickly rose off the seat and went off my daughter's John Deer. I usually back off and use the hand holds to get down, however decided to jump down. Well, my knees gave way, and as I went to step off, I face planted on a rough rutted driveway. Paying a price for that today. I ach all over. I hit face down and drove my for-head into the dirt. It almost knocked me out. I have a sore neck, a large cherry across my forehead, and both cheeks, my right hand really hurts, I cut up my left arm and am bruised badly. To top it off, I have a Dr (Physical) visit on Thursday. My Dr always asked if I am falling. Well, can't get out of that one this time. They always ask "old people" that question I have discovered. I am laid up today and doing a little hunting (Outdoor Channel) from "Big Read" (my electric Lazy-Boy) whom I am in love with. My wife purchased it for me when I had bypass, because I couldn't raise up from a lying position for a few weeks. I guess you win some, and loose some. I could have jumped on that tractor 40 years ago. Thats long gone, guys. Hope you guys have a good day. Sorry and Sore IN Lascassas.
  25. Any of you see the body camera footage of the K 9 Officer turning the dog loose on a truck driver who was stopped for not having a mud flap on a back wheel on his semi trailer. Didn't catch what state this was in. The driver ran from them 2 times, but finally was stopped "with his hands in the air". First time he stopped an Officer got out of his Black and White and pointed a rifle or shotgun at him. When he seen that he took off the second time. He finally stopped and looked like he was talking to a State Trooper, from a distance, who yelled to the K 9 Officer to NOT turn the dog loose on the driver. The K 9 Officer ran at the guy and turned the dog loose instead. The State trooper walked up to the K 9 Officer and said didn't I yell loud enough? That K 9 Officer needs to be relieved of duty. This looks like to me one of those, "If You Have A Hammer, Everything Looks Like A Nail" situations IMO. Don't be that way with your concealed carry piece. They reported the K 9 Officer had been put on leave pending an investigation. IMO he's toast or should be! Edited to add; That county or state is going to pay that guy a lot of money.
