    MBR?

Been really wanting an MBR to keep around. Been thinking about selling/trading my Sig220 45 in order to get one. Shows a little holster wear, but mechanically great, 8 mags (2 sig, 1 mecgar, 7 promag), about 500 rounds of 45acp, 2 sets of Hugue grips. I'll do a little research on what I should expect to get for all that. I've been looking at the AR's, but the brands I like are so over-inflated price-wise I could just about buy a new house and truck for the price of one:screwy:. Also been looking at the AK's. I do trust the action on those more, but I'd take either one. I'm pretty familiar with what's good and not so good in the AR arena, but not so much the AK. Any suggestions on a good one? I'd love to have a Vepr, Vector, or Arsenal. Or a Bulgarian, but I don't know if I can afford one. Buddy of mine has a Mak-90 that's a possibility, but I'm not sure I want to trade my Sig for a Mak-90 even if he comes up with a good boot of mags and ammo. Just not as familiar with them I guess. I'd like to be able to make a deal where I could trade to someone for a good quality rifle and both of us could go home with a good pile of mags and ammo, whether it be an AR or AK. Any suggestions?
  2. I forgot, my wife will have to come too.
  3. Astra, if you and your wife are looking to adopt, I won't eat much (big lie!), I won't make much noise, and you won't have to keep me entertained, I'll just sit around and play with the guns.
  4. I'd love to try the HST. I just don't want to mortgage the house to do it for 357. I'd like to have a boat load of each for the 45 and 357.
  5. That was informative. Thanks man. I've got about two boxes of these left and I've got a gooooood idea for them. Looking like I've got about two boxes of once-fired brass coming up!
  6. Thanks, fellers. Sometimes you never know, so ya gotta ask. I'll go ahead and order some soon as I can.
  7. Anyone know anything about the quality of ammo from Georgia Arms. I was looking at some of the 45 and 357. The 357 seems to be loaded pretty decent, 1400 fps with a 125 Gold Dot, according to the site. Just not familiar with their product, so I'm wondering about the quality control and reliability.
  8. Hey, don't feel bad about that. I don't even know how to post pictures on here, much less links.
  9. That's interesting. I picked it up and saved it out of normal habit when I was finished. I still consider myself to be a beginner on the reloading stuff (couple of years). What do I need to know about the PMC brass? Thanks for the info.
  10. You're right, there is that philosophy. Philosophy is not always right though. 2 or 3 on average may be true, buuuuuuut--- you never know. Glad to see you don't adhere to that same philosophy. By the way, maybe the next time my wife and I are through Knoxville, you'll be tired of the XD and the Kahr by then. I'll bring a box for you to drop the unwanted pieces in.
  11. Yeah, we do too. Clarksville and Dickson are close to me. Well known gang problems in both areas. Puttin' em where I mean for em to go wasn't a slam, hope ya didn't think so. Just means I'm comfortable with my revolvers. Just so ya know, aside from carrying several speed strips, I also carry a New York reload (an extra gun!). Can't blame you for the point though, sort of been thinking about that myself. May go back to packing my P220 some day. Kind of makes you want to pack around a 12 gauge, doesn't it?
  12. That's what I'm thinkin' too. Yes the 158 soft points were jacketed. Sorry, should have specified that. They were PMC. First of that brand I've really done any shooting with. Side note here: I noticed the PMC was hard to eject from the cylinder - brass swelled up more than the Federal. Had to pop the ejector rod fairly briskly to eject. Not something I want to contend with while fending off coyotes or rabid squirrels.
  13. Shooting my Smith 586 6" 357 yesterday. I had bought some of the Federal C357B 125 JHP a few weeks ago. From what I've read this is still one of the top rated defense rounds. Also got some of the Hornady XTP 125 and one of my personal favorites - Speer Gold Dot 125. Now, first I ran some 158 grain soft points. The 586 seemed to really like those. Then I ran the Federal 125JHP. I couldn't pay 'em enough to fly straight. My Ruger SP101 likes the 125's just fine. I'm not sure what the twist rate is on the Smith 586, but I'm wondering now. I need to get back out when I have some more time and try the XTP's and Gold Dots. Anyone else had this experience? It's just got me curious.

    ruger 22/45 MKIII

Just check your local gun shops for that. You can find lots of them on line, but then you have to pay shipping. Uncle Mikes, Blackhawk, and several others make suitable field holsters with a generic type fit (i.e.: "4", 6" .22 cal semi-auto") for example. Usually about 10 - 15 bucks.
  15. What an amazing gift of pure talent!
  16. Thanks Glockster. Sounds like some good loads with the velocity and performance area I needed. I'll give them a try.
  17. Haven't studied CZ's in a while (cuz it makes me want one), but what's the difference in the two models?
  18. That just ain't right:dirty: Great score man. Not being nosey but, well yeah I guess I am, but good price?
  19. It's absolutely applicable for today. Seems fewer people want to listen now though! Seems to be too inconvenient for them to think about their souls. But we are not to grow weary in well doing. Thanks for the link.
  20. Great choice kingtone! Congrats. Mine's just the same as astra900's pic. I carry Gold Dot 125's in mine and carry it in a Don Hume JIT holster. Conceals very well. Never been worried about the capacity issue since I know I can put em where I mean for em to go. Problem is I'm afraid I'm gonna get arrested cause I can't quit fondling it, the 101 that is. What's that ammo there Astra? Can't make it out.
  21. Thanks for the reply musicman. I should have been more clear on that point. I have been looking at Buffalo Bore 180 hard cast for hunting. I was asking about reloading though. I may just cast my own, but I've thought about some good boollits from Cast Performance or Magnus or others. Bullet style is fairly easy to decide on, but what about weight. As I've said before, I do prefer the 125 JHP's for defense, but a heavier bullet would be needed for hunting. Question is, would a 158 do, whether hollow point, soft point, or hard cast solid, or should I go on up to a 180? Thanks
  22. What would be your choice in a .357mag bullet and load for general hunting and woods use in a 6" Smith 586. That would have to cover general hunting as far as deer and hogs and of course defense applications. I know one bullet can't be the be-all-end-all, but I don't want to have to load a bunch of different loads and have to carry them all with me. Any info appreciated.
  23. Me too. I wish I had a .22 conversion for my P220.
