  1.   This.
  2. Not a drop of rain yet east of I-24.  I've been watching the weather all day and have my 2-meter radio sitting next to me scanning the local ARES nets.
  3. One thread is enough.
  4.   To be honest, a CB with a linear amp isn't really long range at all.  It may be in your definition, but a legal 2-meter radio has longer legs than that setup likely does.
  5. "He added that, as Democrats, we believe in the dignity of all human beings and..."   Unless it's an unborn child.   Jerkwad politicans.
  6.   Non-licensed individuals may already use any available comm frequencies in case of emergency, per the FCC.  The catch is you must be able to prove you were in an emergency situation if you are challenged by the FCC later.
  7. Technician class is fine for anyone who wants to talk "locally" on 2-meter repeaters.  Depending on the repeater network you're accessing, local can mean multiple counties and states.  We routinely hear folks from Kentucky and Alabama on the middle Tennessee ARES repeaters.  Without a repeater you're looking at multiple tens of miles of distance of commo, terrain and atmospherics dependent, when operating in simplex mode with another station.   The General class license can certainly get you across the country and into foreign countries with the right equipment and right conditions.  Extra class is the top of the heap and is geared up for much greater distance commo, again with the right equipment and conditions.
  8.     Just so we're clear, this is the text of the automated announcement that you received...       If you think that's "very nasty", you should probably take your computer outside and set it on fire now because I'm not sure you're ready for what the rest of the Internet is like.
  9. Sometimes I really think about buying stock in the company that manufacturers Vagisil.
  10.   I've been working with my tattoo artist for several years now, so I just gave him a bunch of imagery to use as creative fuel, and a theme, and let him run wild with his own imagination.  I've found that if you trust your artist, you get the best results if you give them creative control.  My guy has never let me down.  We may tweak a few things on paper before putting needle to skin, but he's always been well within the 10-ring every time he's come back to me with concept art.
  11. Not terribly far from my part of town.  Interesting.
  12. The software sends those out automatically.  Didn't realize it sends them as me.  Interesting.
  13.   I'll post some pics when it's finished.  We got all of the lining done, and there was a lot of lining.  3 hrs worth of lining and another 1.5 hrs of shading this past Friday.  Got half of it shaded, and have two more sessions scheduled to finish shading and add color, and lastly do any needed touch-up and highlights.   But yeah, it's pretty bad ass right now even though it's grayscale and some bruising.  :)
  14. This does not belong in the newsworthy reports forum.    Moving it.
  15.   Kim is actually the family name, like our last names.  Jong Un would be analogous to our first name.
  16. No one should be editing your threads like that.  Send me more info please.
  17. I just got back from my first sitting for a half sleeve tattoo based on the Crusades.  Several large Templar knights covered in blood, with a lot of knights and fighting in the background and some conspicuously middle eastern architecture in the background.   I've got two more sittings to go and it'll be complete and then sometime in the next year or two we're going to complete the sleeve with a lower arm piece that incorporates modern warfighters.   Basically the theme is "Same shit, different day".   So... yeah... I'm completely in tune with my cultural diversity and sensitivity toward the goat-screwing cave dwellers.  :D
  18. I'm filing your info away for future reference as we're hoping to be in Williamson County within the year.  :)
  19. Congrats on the 40.  I've bragged on mine here countless times in the past!  I hope yours proves to be even half as reliable as mine has.  :)
  20. Threads like this make me happy.  Not because of anything I do, but because it reflects directly on the quality of people we've got participating here.  :)
  21. I wouldn't own a gun that I didn't think was safe to carry with one in the pipe.
  22. Unfortunately there's nothing I can do about that other than report it to the Tapatalk developers, who are some of the worst about responding to issues.
  23. I normally have a bad-ass immune system.  I mean, I never get sick.  Ever.  This year I opted not to take the flu shot and OMG what a mistake that was.   This past Sunday I started feeling kind of achy and tired.  Monday morning I left work about an hour after I got there because I started feeling really bad.  It went downhill from there really fast with Monday being mostly stomach related problems and then Monday night it completely went south with fever, chills and my sinuses felt like they were on fire.  I spent Monday through Thursday laid up in bed.  I really don't remember much about Tuesday or Wednesday as I slept most of those days away.  And by slept I mean I was in bed around the clock, alternating between shivering so bad my back hurt and burning up so hot I couldn't get cool.   Late Wednesday my fever finally broke and Thursday was mostly sleeping to recover.  Last night was the first real sleep I've had in four days.  Thankfully I'm pretty much past the bad stuff now and just recovering.   So... anyone else had this crap lately?  I think this is seriously the worst flu I can remember ever having.  I won't make the mistake of skipping the flu shot ever again.  Granted it's no silver bullet but the years I've taken the shot if I caught anything it didn't last near this long and wasn't near this severe.   Oh, the doc says this was the Type-B flu.  Apparently Type-A is even worse.  I guess it comes with demons that torment you over open pits of fire or something.
